Saad was very helpful recommending shopping and dining. The felt smaller than the posting online, but it was comfortable and clean.
We met Saad in the main restaurant square which is very near to the apartment. Communication was very spotty and it was not until I called Saad when we arrived at Avignon Central that we knew for certain that we had a place to stay. I had sent two prior message texts that went unanswered.
First the good: As described this apartment is right in the middle of Avignon and is close to everything. Second the price charged was very good for such a centrally located apartment. There was a French press coffee maker that worked very well. The clothes washer also worked well, and there is a towel dryer (a set of heated tubes in the bathroom) that worked well in drying towels and various clothing articles. Since the only window that opens overlooks the entry walkway (see below), it was a very quiet stay since there was no street noise. The WIFI and the television both worked well during our stay and the TV had a cable connection so there was a wide selection of channels available.
Now the bad: This room barely qualifies as an apartment. The only window in the unit opens into the walkway from which entry is gained from the street. This meant that there was NO air circulation in the apartment. There is a fan, but at its lowest setting it made far too much noise to sleep. Since it was hot during our stay our choices were to roast with the fan off, or try to sleep with the fan on. The closet shown in one of the photos (next to the window) was closed with a sign posted that we were not to enter. Therefore, there was no closet in which to hang up clothes. The unit is listed for four persons, but the table only had three chairs. The kitchen had a bare minimum of utensils, and it would have been a challenge to try and prepare any meals there. The ceiling had large water marks as well as peeling paint and the garish wallpaper does nothing except assault the eyes. The overhead light was missing bulbs, as well as one of the table lamps and only one of the bathroom lights worked.
In all, this was one of worst AirBnB stays we have experienced and I would not recommend this unit to other travelers due to its many deficiencies.
We booked the place right before we arrived in Avignon and Kathy and Saad gladly welcomed us despite our late arrival. The apartment was very well designed and in the city center which allowed us to walk around town quite easily, but it was very quiet. we enjoyed our stay there.
J'espere a bientôt!
