On Marigny / Bywater bus route- Frankin and Royal bus stop is across the street
No smoking in the house; courtyard ok
Avoid cleaning fee by leaving house neat.
I had taken my house off Air B and B for a while because some Air B and B guests over Jazz Fest caused a ruckus ( loud partying until the wee hours- police were called) and the neighborhood association came down on short term rentals. I've straightened that out but am being VERY selective now for rentals after that. My neighbors are wonderful people, and to think I had unruly guests was quite mortifying. I also decreased occupancy to 4 people to avoid large groups.
Thank you Lorelei- we loved the neighborhood and the house! What a beautiful home, wonderful artifacts all about... This was such a nice location for us. For potential visitors, the overall feel of the place is calm, but it is not guaranteed quiet overnight - I was expecting that though and didn't mind at all. Very "bohemian" area, from the grocery to the cafes and bars, the people. We LOVED this but if you are used to sound proof hotels and going to places that offer the usual fair, go and stay in an area that caters to you as a tourist. Wonderful neighborhood and we enjoyed all the people and pets we met. There is a nice notebook at the house full of useful info - we rented bikes from a neighborhood spot and really got our money's worth. What fun!

We were very surprised when we arrived to discover that the house has only two private bedrooms. There is a third room with a double bed, but that room is the only way to access the front bedroom on the 2nd floor. This walk-thru also has no curtains to block light or provide privacy from both the front bedroom or the stairs to the 1st floor and attic space where the master bedroom is.The second floor bathroom can only be accessed thru the walk thru or the front bedroom, and only has 3/4 height louvred doors between the bathroom and the walk thru, reducing the privacy of this bathroom if there's anyone in the walk-thru room (for both the bathroom user and the walk-thru occupant!). The downstairs 'washroom' is a toilet behind a screen under the stair case, so you can wave hello to anyone going up or down the stairs.
This set up didn't allow the level of privacy we wanted for our group of 5 adults, and we wouldn't have booked it if the set up had been made clear to us. We ended up having to find alternative accommodation for 2 of our party at extra expense.
There were clothes in the dryer and dishes in the dishwasher when we arrived. Not sure how effective the dishwasher is - we didn't use it because it was full, but we did need to wash everything we used as nothing was very clean. We also had to request additional keys, as there was only one set left out - Lorelei did find us another and offered to cut an extra when we asked.
On the upside, the house is really well located and would work really well as a two bedroom place or for a group who aren't that fussed about privacy, and the courtyard is lovely.
