We loved this place simple, stylish, comfortable, the sound of the birds and the sea. The house is well equipped and the beach is beautiful and quiet. Marie Claude was a charming and attentive host. Bea was lovely she would clean everyday and if we supplied the ingredients, would cook delicious local food while we were out. Anil would deliver fresh fish and lobster if we called him. We loved walking on the beach on calm nights as the beach is very different with hundreds of star fish and a few rays hiding in the sand.
We throughly enjoyed our stay at Fouilly Cottage. Every day you woke up to the singing birds, to be followed by a stroll in the lovely beach. It is probably less than 100m from the beach, and you almost always have the white sand, calm, turquoise water beach all to yourself.
The house has everything needed to make a comfortable stay.
We arrive early at night, nevertheless Marie-Claude, the mother of Dennis, asked Patricia to prepare us some home-cooked creole dinner, which is absolutely delicious.
As there are only a couple of restaurant near-by, you might one to consider having Patricia prepare your daily dinner.
We have a car (necessity) and enjoyed exploring the island everyday.
One note for dog lovers (as my self), there are way too many strays in the island. They are beautiful dogs, it is heartbreaking to see them hungry. We ended up carrying dog food in the car (very cheap in supermarket) and make various stops to feed them during our exploration.
Will we come back? Yes, and without a doubt will stay in Fouilly Cottage.
Very Nice place to stay! Really that holiday feeling at the moment you arrive. Note: when it's raining all over Mauritius, sun is shining in Pointe D'Esny. We will come back!!
We were greeted by our host and even though our arrival was a little later than planned, and caused some inconvenience to the host, made to feel very welcome. We were given a tour of the house and all the information we needed and were particularly touched by the host's generous provision of a delicious home cooked meal and fresh fruit.
Wee loved the house which was very clean, comfortable and homely, and provided everything needed for our stay. It is positioned in a quiet area with direct access to a beautiful, uncrowded beach, whilst shops and restaurants are nearby.
It was an absolute pleasure staying here and for a holiday somewhere charmingly authentic we thoroughly recommend Fouilly Plage.
My wife, son and I spent 5 weeks at Denis' place in Pointe d'Esny. It is a truely beautiful place, just off one of the most pretty beaches in Mauritius. The beach is public but as access points are few and far, it feels like a private beach. The cottage is very nice too, with a great decor. The windows literally open on the sea - amazing when you wake up in the morning. The breeze from the sea is great too - it ensures that the place is cool all the time. You really do not need any aircon. Denis' mum, Marie-Claude, was there to welcome us when we came with some lunch. And then there is Pascaline, a lovely women from Mahebourg who came to clean and, most importantly, cooked for us everyday. She is a truely amazing cook and we ate her great food almost every evening - creole dishes, fresh fish, curries, etc, etc. We would just buy vegetables, meat, etc and she would, very creatively, cook something for us. Highly recommended.
