The house was a perfect fit for my needs! The house gave my children and I plenty of space to eat and relax during our stay in Haiti. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. The house staff were incredible! They were kind, respectful and responsive to our needs. It was the first time my children had been to Haiti and I'm so glad we chose to stay at the house!
What a wonderful place to stay in Port Au Prince! From my initial communication with Rita through my arrival and departure everything about my stay was perfect. Rita was extremely responsive to any communications and went out of her way to help me set up transportation and arrange some volunteer time at a local orphanage. The property manager Maxo and his assistant Wilhem were there to help me with anything I needed, not to mention provided great conversation. The accommodations were just like the photos - the place was very clean and comfortable. I was also able to easily connect with other travelers staying at the guesthouse. I will defiantly stay here again when I return to Port au Prince.
A big THANK YOU to Rita and her staff (Maxo and Walem) for their Haitian hospitality. If you don't know what "Haitian hospitality" means, you will after your stay here.
Haiti can be challenging to navigate, so it's nice to come "home" to a secure, clean, comfortable place where you can relax, recharge and get ready to face the next day.
If you don't have a car, it's fairly easy to find your way to nearby markets and even up to Petion-Ville. If you'd prefer not to venture out, the staff is happy to get whatever you need.
If you're looking for a place to stay, long-term or short-term, I highly recommend this guesthouse. You'll be glad you decided to stay here.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Rita's house, and I highly recommend it. Rita was out of town while I was there, but she helped to make my stay pleasant even from afar. Rita was quick to respond to my emails, and she was able to accommodate vegan meals at my request. Maxo was a gracious host. He provided delicious meals as well as pleasant conversation.
Meals were tasty and plentiful. The room was air conditioned, clean, and had a cabinet that locked. Wifi connection was worked consistently. The neighborhood was safe and friendly.
I'd highly recommend staying in Rita's if you ever go to Port au Prince. It's comfortable and quiet, but it's not shut off from the city as a resort or luxury hotel would be. And it's great value! Maxo, the house manager, is very sweet and helped us find our bearings . Logistics can be tricky in the city, and we would never have gotten to see and do so many unforgettable things without Maxo's help. Not only did he advise us on how to get around PAP, he helped us get a good driver for a trip to Jacmel. Most of all, he made us feel like one of the family. The food is excellent -- every meal freshly cooked, and served with fresh coffee and freshly squeezed juices you'll never forget. Walin and the rest of the staff are also very friendly. My wife and I have fond memories of Rita's, and hope to come back to visit one day.
Great place to stay. Safe, clean, tidy. Tasty food from Titi if you arrange it with them in the morning to eat in the evening. Totally recommended as an excellent base in PAP. Maxo v helpful. He will guide you through the complications of Tap Taps/Motos, and will come with you if he thinks you need assistance! Recommended without hesitation!
