About this listing
Cozy one bedroom apartment unit - location is gay-friendly Hollywood Beach on the safe and accessible north side neighborhood of Edgewater in Chicago. The beach is behind the building, no need to even cross the street.
You would be easily connected with the entire city: Bus 147 can be taken right across the street and takes you to downtown Chicago within 40 minutes; the CTA Red Line takes you everywhere and is within five blocks. Andersonville is a ten minute walk away, Boystown is a 15 minute train ride away.
Our building has 24 hour doorman service and it's located right where the bike path ends. There's basic cable and internet, parking would cost extra and animals are not allowed. The roof is also an excellent getaway on its own right: one may see fireworks, use its wireless connection, view the air show where the planes fly low and close to the buildings, one may read, cook or drink with friends.
My unit is cozy, has huge windows and is bright, has a partial lake view. If it gets noisy at night due to traffic, I'm happy to provide earplugs.
I'm also happy to be a resource if you'd like to get acquainted with the city, and if time allows am even happy to cook affordable homemade food.
Animals are not allowed in the building.
Hiram was a very lovely host and was full of great conversation! He was present for most of my stay and was helpful when I needed questions answered.
The space was cozy and clean and had a nice minimalistic touch with lots of natural light. The location couldn't have been more perfect as the beach was our backyard. There was also a rooftop access with a beautiful/quiet view. I would definitely recommend this listing.
This was my first experience using AirBnB and it turned out great. My girlfriend and I were in town for the weekend and needed a room with basic amenities to come back to at night as we were busy exploring the city and meeting friends during the day. The place is located in a convenient location with many awesome ethnic restaurants within walking distance and is very accessible to public transportation (5-10 minute walk to the red CTA line). As advertised, the beach is literally right behind the condo complex and the view from the building's rooftop is really amazing. Hiram was a welcoming host who gave us great tips throughout our stay and let us stay in the private room even though we were expecting to stay on the futon in the living room. We only had a couple qualms with our stay: (1) we didn't realize the unit did not have air conditioning (we happened to be in town during one of the hottest weekends in Chicago) but we managed to stay cool with a fan and open window (2) overnight parking was extremely difficult to find on the street so we ended having to park in the condo garage, which costed us an extra $24 a night. Other than that, the room is a great deal for a weekend stay and Hiram is a wonderful host.
Hiram was a wonderful host. He gave my boyfriend and I our own private room. He was very friendly and even gave recommendations for places to eat. My boyfriend also needed an iron for one of his shirts and Hiram was able to provided him with one. We both had plans for going downtown and visiting the loop so he gave us a key to get back in later and told us to use the bus that stops just out in front of his building. The bus got us downtown in less than 30 min.
Overall it was a great experience!
Hiram was a good host, he welcomed us, suggested us places to visit . The apartment was clean and cosy, good enough for two people to crash at night. The beach is right behind the apartment, you can get an amazing view of the lake from the roof of the building too. Thanks Hiram!
Hiram was a great host in providing us all the info we needed and things to do around the area. He also made us simple breakfast which was very nice.
Hiram was a great host; really friendly and fun to talk to. The room was very clean and the location convenient too with public transportation.
Hiram is a very friendly guy, he was helpful in explaining everything to us that we needed to know (local supermarkets, how to get downtown etc.) Although the flat is rather small, he let us have our own space.
