Am willing to share my small one bedroom apartment unit for a day or for a weekend - location is gay-friendly Hollywood Beach on the safe and accessible north side neighborhood of Edgewater in Chicago. The beach is behind the building, no need to even cross the street.
You would be easily connected with the entire city: Bus 147 can be taken right across the street and takes you to downtown Chicago within 40 minutes; the CTA Red Line takes you everywhere and is within five blocks. Andersonville is a ten minute walk away, Boystown is a 15 minute train ride away.
Our building has 24 hour doorman service and it's located right where the bike path ends. There's basic cable and internet, parking would cost extra and animals are not allowed. The roof is also an excellent getaway on its own right: one may see fireworks, use its wireless connection, view the air show where the planes fly low and close to the buildings, one may read, cook or drink with friends.
My unit is cozy, has huge windows and is bright, has a partial lake view. If it gets noisy at night due to traffic, I'm happy to provide earplugs.
I'm also happy to be a resource if you'd like to get acquainted with the city, and if time allows am even happy to cook affordable homemade food.
Hiram is a great company and good cook, he cooked us a two really great dishes and even bought some drink for us. He gave us a private room tp make sure we have our own freedom, that's so considerate. His apartment still wonderful that just bear lake beach. Maybe our english are not so good, so we didn't chat a lot, but you still can felt his hospitable. The only pity thing was that the roof's wifi was dead, so it was hard to connect.
Hiram was very helpful and made sure my stay was comfortable. He planned his work around my check in and check out time. There is a great view of Lake Michigan from the roof of the apartment.
The apartment is very spacious and nice, Hiram really made you fell welcome. I had a privet bed room, a completely freedom to go in and out with the tranquility of a 24 hours doorman. I felt I was in a hotel. The apt has a lateral lake view and a terrace in the building that gives you a total view of Lake Michigan. Definitely If I any day I will go back to Chicago I will try to stay here again. Hiram is a great host and made me feel like home. 5 stars
Hiram's place was my first experience with AirBnb...I have to say overall it was a pretty okay one. For the most part I was gone, but it felt welcoming to come back to.
I had the bedroom to myself, and Hiram was great company.
The only cons I would have is the shower was a little dirty for me, and upon my departure I felt as though I was being thrown out of the place. He didn't ask me to go outright, but kept asking me; at what time I was leaving...even in the midst of me packing up my things that morning.
Hiram is a very nice guy with a great location for transportation, those 2 listed were my own problems with the space.
