Come stay at my historic Charleston bungalow. Built to support the housing boom in the wake of the opening of Charleston's historic port, this home is within walking distance or short bike ride of Moe's Crosstown Tavern, Santi's, The Tattooed Moose, and beautiful Hampton Park. It's a scant one and a half mile jaunt to all of the eating, drinking, and shopping that King St. has to offer and is 3 miles from The Battery. The neighborhood is now one of Charleston's up and coming historic downtown areas with many homes being renovated and restored. It's possible to walk downtown but using the bikes to get there is much easier.
More than just proximity to the local haunts, I can offer you the following hospitality:

Please note that this home may NOT be the place for you ONLY if:
You are not a dog person, you prefer an extremely quiet environment, or you are uncomfortable with friends and family coming and going occasionally, especially over the weekends.
Matt's place is great! Very clean and comfy in a fantastic location quite close to tasty food and drinks. We only saw him briefly when we arrived, but he was very warm and hospitable. Sadly, we couldn't use the sweet cruiser bikes he has available because it was raining. He also has two cute dogs. Would definitely stay here again!
Nice bedroom in a great neighborhood. We were mostly out of the house exploring (and eating) but everything was a smooth process.
We had a great stay at Matt's funky restored bungalow. The quiet neighborhood location worked well for walking or biking to downtown Charleston, or to access some of the great local bars and restaurants that are within a half-mile or so. The room and home were just as pictured and described by Matt and his dogs are great greeters every time you come in the door. We would be happy to stay with Matt again when we return to Charleston.
Matt was very easy going and his house was great. The neighborhood is quiet and close to the downtown area. I was never worried about my safety or the safety of my car.
Cute bungalow with very comfy bed! Location makes access to downtown very easy by car, bike, even walking. Felt perfectly safe in this neighborhood, and Matt was a great host. Would def stay again.
We did not feel safe in this neighborhood as when we arrived we witnessed multiple car burglary attempts one block away. We left and stayed in a hotel. Matt apologized and said he would work out a refund. Two weeks have passed and we have not seen a refund. We never saw the host although he seemed friendly over text message.
Matt was a great host with a great home! Everything was very centrally located and we enjoyed making use of the bikes. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking to be centrally located to downtown Charleston while also being a short drive to the beach. Perfect house for our vacation!
I'm a native of Raleigh, NC now living in Charleston. I'm fairly active and go out to explore frequently; I know the city well and I'm happy to provide recommendations for anything you'd want to do here.
In addition to living in Charleston and Raleigh, I've also lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Melbourne, Australia. I enjoy traveling and adventures off the beaten path.
If I'm not in the house, you'll find me either in the back yard playing with the dogs, restoring old cars in the garage, surfing, fishing, or hanging out with friends.
You can expect a laid back, casual, and homey atmosphere in my house - it's not a museum, there aren't labels on things, it's just your home away from home while traveling. Come and go as you please, put your beer in the fridge, and come join me and my friends grilling on the front porch!
