Interaction with Guests
Under the Tiki Hut is where everyone meets if they want to be sociable.
We love being able to sit in our back garden and watch the boats go by and the wildlife on an around the water. We also love walking across the road to the beach, or walking around the corner to Johns Pass to watch the fishermen landing a catch or go to one of the many bars or restaurants available there. It is a very friendly and convenient place to live.
There are buses and trolleys at the end of the street which run up and down Gulf Blvd, and to Tyrone Square shopping mall.
Parking is available at the front of the house.
Guests can take a taxi, or super shuttle, or rent a car to get from the airport. It is approximately a 45 minute drive.

Gail and her husband, Roger, were great hosts. They met me upon arrival and even helped me to get my bags into the house. The book of information that they provided was very helpful, and they were very respectful of my privacy. Every single time that we crossed paths, they were very friendly and most helpful. They were quick to provide any requested items and to answer any questions.
Also helpful is the basket of maps & brochures to area attractions. They have a lot of great information.
The space was as described and the provided essentials were very helpful. The only thing lacking was condiments. It would have been nice to not have to go purchase those since they are used so sparingly.
The surrounding area was absolutely beautiful! Gorgeous views out the back door, very peaceful seating areas along the water, a deck which provided the perfect view of the sunrise, and close views of dolphins searching for food in the waters of the back yard.
The beach, shopping areas, & restaurants were all within walking distance. They were not as close as I was expecting and it's just far enough away that carrying a bunch of items for a day on the beach got a bit wearisome. However, the use of a wheeled bag was very helpful and made it very doable. I highly recommend bringing one with you.
A bicycle would have been helpful for getting to/from the shops & restaurants, especially while it is so hot. However, there is a car service available called Free Beach Ride. There is no base price; the drivers work for tips only. It was really great!
There are a couple of portable chairs available to use, but they are the type that sit up high; like the ones that people take to watch a child play in a soccer game. They are not very comfortable for a day at the beach. There was also a lounge chair available, but it's way too heavy for carrying all the way to the beach. I bought a beach chair (the kind that sits low to the ground and has a high back for lounging), and left it there for others to use. It's very light and easy to carry to the beach. One of those chairs with carrying straps would be perfect, but I didn't want to shell out that much money for it. There are chairs & umbrellas for rent on the beach, but that gets a bit pricey if you're there more than a couple of days.
I had such a lovely time there that I did not want to leave. Seriously. I tried to stay longer, but, sadly, could not make it happen. I would love to return to the area and hope that if I do, that Gail's & Roger's place is available. I could not imagine staying anywhere else. :)
P.S. Scully's for breakfast is a must-do! Best home fries ever & wonderful views of sea life.
On arrival we were wowed by the beautiful waterfront setting. It is a gorgeous spot!! Having Gail and Roger right next door was a delight. They were friendly and helpful while also respectful of our privacy and never intrusive. Gail greeted us after our arrival to answer questions and point out the way to local destinations and we settled in quickly. The written info provided was also quite helpful. We had a pleasant chat or two throughout the week - and Roger rang the bell when he saw dolphins just to alert us. :-)
The apartment is perfect for two for a week, or longer, with all that we needed and more. Ceiling fans throughout were nice and everything was in perfect working order. The fact that we could use their beach towels and chairs was a generous surprise. Johns Pass village offers food and shopping and activities and of course it's just a quick 5 minute walk to the Gulf. We highly recommend this apartment and hope to return.
Gail and her husband were awesome hosts! We really enjoyed our stay at their house. Our apartment was spacious, clean, very well equipped (especially the kitchen) and had a very nice terrace. The location is very close to the lovely beach (5 min. walking distance). You will find everything you need in the area. The only con is the slow Wi-Fi connection, which is due to the Madeira Beach Island location. All in all a great experience, we highly recommend!
Gail's home is phenomenal and I had a wonderful stay. Definitely recommend staying if you are in the Tampa/St Pete area.
Condo is part of a house owned by very nice and helpful people . Both are brits ( so you get free british humor ! ) . Condo is clean and well located .About 5 minute walk to the main beach. The condo has a beautiful view of the intercostal from the large balcony and the kitchen .Small nice Garden. It is a quiet area . You will find the condo well equipped .Recently painted. Free parking . Condo is for one or two persons ( only one bathroom second floor ) . We stayed there for one month and would definitely recommend it to our friends . In the evening , my wife and I often walked in the area and felt safe. Thank you Gail and Roger for a memorable vacation. We felt at home... Marc & Gisele
About the Host, Gail
I have worked in the airline business for most of my career. Now I have moved to Florida with my husband where we own and run a company which assists UK companies who want to start or expand their business in the United States.
We have both travelled extensively, but love to come back to our waterfront home. We enjoy sharing and are lucky to have the room to give guests their own space to be completely independent, but able to share the beautiful views of the water and the lovely garden.
