Our attractive, comfortable bedroom has a skylight, half-moon window, and comfortable double-size futon. We're in a unique historic district with lots of character and easy access to an exciting, vibrant downtown Raleigh scene and the NCSU campus.

The Space

Our unique and beautiful 100-year old home is in the Boylan Heights historic district. It is an easy walk to downtown, the Convention Center, Sheraton Hotel, NC State University and the Glenwood South entertainment district with many great restaurants. We also have our own neighborhood brew pub two blocks away where you can enjoy an outstanding view of downtown Raleigh from the outdoor deck. We're only a few blocks to city and regional bus lines and the Amtrak train station. The room has recently been painted and redecorated. The double futon is very comfortable. Wifi is available and you're welcome to check your email on one of our computers. Wait 'til you relax in the huge shower with multiple shower heads in the bathroom across from you room or soak in the old-fashioned claw-footed tube in the second bathroom. We provide an array of breakfast foods for a fix-it-yourself breakfast and coffee/tea are always available. Our spacious house has a large front porch with a swing and a welcoming deck overlooking the backyard. Our home has a wonderful inviting atmosphere and we enjoy sharing it with people.

Guest Access

In addition to the guest's bedroom, guests have access to two bathrooms, laundry room, our dining area for breakfasts we provide or for meals guests bring home, our back deck overlooking the garden and our front porch with a swing.

Interaction with Guests

We give our guests the privacy they want and enjoy getting to know them as opportunities arise, some times over the do-it-yourself breakfast we provide or in the evening when guests return from their activities. We're also happy to make recommendations for restaurants and places to go and we provide a comprehensive map of Raleigh's downtown areas. We're in and out a lot ourselves so our guests have a key and come and go as they like.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood's beautifully restored houses, gardens, tree-shaded sidewalks make for an enjoyable walk. One block away our neighborhood hosts a weekly Saturday market with food and arts and craft vendors and food trucks. Sometimes there's a big food truck rodeo just up the street. Two blocks away is our neighborhood brewpub with a deck that has the best view anywhere of downtown Raleigh. A few blocks away there's access to Raleigh's very large greenway system for taking a walk or run. Just opened nearby is a bakery and a coffee roasting business.

Getting around

We are convenient to the Amtrak rail station (4 blocks), city and regional bus transportation and a free circulator bus that covers the downtown area. A 15-minute walk takes you from our house to downtown Raleigh, the convention center, hotels, lots of restaurants, free museums and frequent weekend festivals. A 10-minute walk take you to the Glenwood South entertainment area with tons of restaurants, bars and clubs, a hopping place on weekends. We are a 20-minute drive from the airport.

  • This was my first airbnb experience, and it was a good one! I enjoyed my stay at Ginny and Tom's and would stay again. The description is very accurate. The room is spacious, comfortable and homey and the house clean. The location is convenient to downtown, yet easy driving and parking with a safe, neighborhood feel. Ginny and Tom were kind, hospitable and easy to coordinate with.

  • Ginny and Tom are very welcoming and helpful.
The spacious attic room in their house is a calm haven in a delightful leafy part of town. Lovely rocking chairs (I tried them both) and a swing seat on the porch. Full access to spotless shared bathroom and kitchen with everything you need, including breatfast foods, and squirrels and birds to watch from the back deck. Would definately stay again.

  • This property is exactly as advertised. It is a room in a private home, located in a neighborhood of old, well-kept houses on tree-shaded streets at the edge of downtown Raleigh. The location was ideal for me - within walking distance of all of downtown Raleigh, and only 4 blocks from the Raleigh Amtrak station. Furnishings include a comfortable bed, chairs, and a small desk. The cost was very reasonable, and includes use of the kitchen for do-it-yourself breakfast. A wide variety of restaurants are within easy walking distance. Tom and Ginny were friendly and gracious hosts. I'll be back!

  • Unfortunately, I wasn't able to spend much time getting to know Ginny and Tom because I was traveling to Raleigh for business and spent my whole day at the convention center downtown. However, they were very friendly and accommodating throughout my stay.

The room is very true to the pictures. It's bright, open, and the bed was very comfortable. The only thing that I noticed is that the bedroom door does not have a lock, as far as I could see. This didn't really bother me, but I could understand how some people might prefer a locking bedroom door.

Overall, my stay in Raleigh was delightful. The house is very close to downtown, and I was able to walk everywhere that I needed to go. I would definitely consider staying with Ginny and Tom again if I'm ever in Raleigh.

  • I had a lovely weekend at Ginny and Tom's. I was in Raleigh for my daughter's graduation. With all of the family coming in, it had the potential for being a stressful weekend, but the room I stayed in was quiet and peaceful and helped me to relax at the end of two very busy days.

  • Ginny and Tom graciously share their beautiful home. Accommodations are very comfortable . . . . and the shower is terrific! The neighborhood is lovely and the house is also very accessible by foot to downtown. When in Raleigh, a wonderful place to stay.

  • I had a great time in Raleigh staying with Ginny and Tom. The room was exactly as pictured. Very light, bright, large and sunny and immaculate and very comfortable bed. I was in town to do the Rock n Roll Marathon and the location was perfect. I could easily walk to everything downtown. The shower was really good too and very large with good pressure. The hosts were very pleasant and easy to be with. Easy entry access and breakfast items were offered as well as coffee and tea. Would recommend staying with Ginny and Tom

  • Ginny and Tom's house is clean, comfortable and convenient, as well as attractively decorated. It's located in a quiet, pleasant neighborhood within easy walking distance of downtown attractions.

Ginny and Tom themselves are urbane and welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with them and recommend them heartily!
