I am a Zapotec from Teotitlan del Valle, I grew up herding a flock of goats or else helping my family at our rug making workshop and also farming our land. I've always been in contact with nature and doing outdoor activities, I can say I know every square mile and every path in our village from the northern montains, the low pasture lands and the cornfields.
My weaving skills lead me to get a bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering; I always liked the production aspect of rug making. After finishing my degree I realised that the industrial production system needed to turn 180° to become more sustainable. I did not hesitate to apply for a scholarship and become an agent of change pursuing a PhD on Sustainable Manufacturing at the Liverpool University in the United Kingdom.
After almost a year working at a University near Oaxaca city, I've decided to close the circle and return with my parents helping them in their farm and weaving workshop. I think that farming and weaving are elementary skills that make us human and I would like to share that with the word whilst finding new ways to make the industrial production system more sustainable.

During your stay
We are happy to help and interact with you as much as you would like during your stay. My brother Celestino and I, both, speak English fluently but my parents only speak a few words and phrases. Although, having said that, my mom has managed to communicate with people from all continents!
We are happy to include you in all the daily activities and family socializing if you are interested :-)
If you would like to join our family meals we charge a flat rate of $100 pesos per meal, eat all you want.
