The Space

Just 5 miles from Pahoa and 2 miles from the ocean and Pohoiki Bay this sweet cabin (email hidden) to forget about the world. It has a large king size bamboo bed, front porch with a hammock, bath house with big bath tub and 2 hot showers on a coconut tree. There is also a single day bed. Perfect for 1 or 2 adults, or a couple with a friend or child. It's just a short walk to the main building where you can purchase breakfast and or yoga classes. Free internet access at the main building as well. We are currently adding a cook stove and sink to the porch of the cabin. You can also go up to the main house and use the kitchen there or buy meals if we have a cook that week. There are fruit trees on the property. You can pick whatever is in season. The local town has a great health food store, farmers market and yummy places to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

  • Star is kind, welcoming, and helpful as was everyone we encountered at the Oasis.
The daily Chi/Hatha Yoga (within walking distance!) and Captain Gene's Lava Boat Tours were additional incredible blessings that we never would have experienced had we stayed elsewhere.
We loved the big comfy bed and bathtub. The gas stove and sink are installed in the kitchen! Both saved us time and money. We didn't use the main house refrigerator much, preferring instead to keep things closed (and just cool) in the cooler.
There are mosquitos, ants, and loud coquille frogs (it is the rainforest), but as others have said, a little mindfulness goes a long way in mitigating those factors.
Star loaned us clearly printed directions that we used to get to nearby spots everyday. Enjoy the weekly markets! The location between Pahoa and the southeast coast (not far from Volcano National Park and Hilo) was very comfortable for us with a rental car.

  • This space has a fantastically exotic feel to it, and is incredibly private and spacious. There are two separate buildings, the bedroom/kitchen and the bathroom, both of which are private. The lot is within easy walking distance to the main shared lounge and kitchen, but the trees make it feel very secluded. We found the shared kitchen to be a little more useful than the private one, as it is closer to the refrigerator and felt a little more protected from the ants (both areas are screened, but the shared kitchen had a door, while the private kitchen had a screen curtain). The bed was quite large and the mattress was comfortable. We were also pleasantly surprised to find that the bathroom included a bathtub, in addition to the two outdoor shower heads, although we never got around to trying the tub out. Overall, we enjoyed the space and found it to be comfortable and luxurious feeling, with a few rustic touches that kept it exciting and real.

  • A wonderful experience! We really enjoyed our stay at the Coconut Cabin. You fall asleep to the sound of a tropical rainforest. The yoga oasis is a great open building in the jungle as well, hammocks, books, very inspiring. Star was super helpful with all our needs and a really nice host! Thanks for everything!

  • An incredible stay at the Coconut Cabin! The sounds of the jungle might be alarming at first, but we found it to be soothing and really exciting to wake up to. We found our way easily with Star's directions. The room was comfortable and we would recommend it to those seeking adventure.
