OUT & ABOUT
Ystrad Meurig is a small village with an abundance of character. It lies on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains and has a wealth of history. Recent excavations by Lampeter University discovered remains of buildings dating back possibly to the 6th century. It is thought to be the site of the Royal Llys or Hall Complex of the Ceredigion Kings and Princes.

The Ystwyth Trail passes close by, so this property is an ideal starting point for a cycling adventure along this trail, which connects the seaside town of Aberystwyth, with the old market town of Tregaron; home of Rhiannon Welsh Gold.

Strata Florida Abbey (Valley of Flowers) is a short distance way, just outside Pontrhydfendigaid, near Tregaron. The abbey was originally founded in 1164.

The area is ideally located to offer quality sea fishing, game fishing both river and still water and course fishing.

A short drive to Aberystwyth provides an abundance of shops / bars / restaurants and cafes along a promenade which then takes you right to the funicular railway up the cliff to the camera obscura.

A steam train from Aberystwyth will take you to Devil’s bridge with beautiful scenery along the way.

There is an option for Bookabus but a car or cycling is the best way to get around. Aberystwyth is 11 miles and Tregaron is 7 miles.

I have been privileged to live all of my life in this beautiful part of the world, apart from a few years in college.
While I am kept busy in my free time I enjoy walking in the lovely countryside taking in all the aspects of the natural world. I also go fishing nearby in the Cambrian Mountains when I need extra peace and quiet.
