The Space

Okay, just for this one long weekend again:
A typical '30 Amsterdam appartment on the ground floor, overseeing a canal, 10 minutes from the Jordaan and city centre. My neighbourhood, the Baarsjes, is upcoming and very hip! There is a garden and the whole appartment has a brand new interior with a lot of original elements.

The neighbourhood is very lively, but quiet at night. There is public transport within walking distance. Bikes can be arranged. The place is overseeing the canal and is very green.

The neighbours are very friendly and the garden has a veranda. You can cook meals in the new kitchen. There is a big fridge in the garden house if you want to store more than a few beers or wine. The housecat only comes by to eat, she lives outside most of the times. The house is always cleaned before your arrival. Smoking is alowed in the garden, where thereis a roof so you won't get wet when it rains (and it does rain occasionally..;))

Amsterdam has a lot of cool things to see and do. I can help you to find out what is the most fantastic and chill things there are to see and do.

I am back since the 2nd of July from a half year Aruba. I brought back a Caribbean chill and laidback atmosphere besides a very very brown skin. The boat is up and running from August 2013. If I am free I will be your captain. I also have a friend that can take you on the canals. The fees depend on how long you want to go and how far. The boat can also go to De Zaanse Schans or on 't IJ.

Hope to see you soon,

  • i stayed 3 nights and almost 4 days and felt like being at home which is what i was looking for. so simple but nothing is missing, so pleasant and useful in every detail. the cat is the most greatest accompany, who is asking no special care but open to give. everything is perfect clean, calm, comfortable, nice and tasteful decorated with a very nice environment, very typically an A'dam house.
besides the house and the environment i need to tell the well care of Damiaan. even though i could not have the chance to meet him personally, he was always close what if i would have needed his support. he made also a surprise by providing his bike, a typical A'dam bikes. it was so helpful. for me, there is no other option to stay at A'dam. enjoy your stay.

  • We had a wonderful 4-day stay here. The apartment was perfect in terms of transport, quiet and clean. Damiaan was friendly and welcoming. We only saw him the first day, but he checked in with us by phone daily. His cat, who mainly lived in the garden, was supposedly not a people animal, but when we cooked dinner for ourselves the last night she hung around in the kitchen for strokes and a bit of lap sitting. We plan to visit Amsterdam again next year; if Damiaan's life changes progress as he hopes, hosting won't be feasible for him, which is a pity for us. We hope our second Airbnb experience in A'dam will be as enjoyable as our stay at Damiaan's place.

  • If you are looking for a nice place to stay with the best host there is, STAY @ DAMIAAN! The App was really clean and cozy with a beautiful garden and a cute cat. We felt right at home. His place is not far from the city. Close to tram and bus. All in all we were very satisfied with our choice and would love to stay there again on our next trip to Amsterdam.

  • Damian was an excellent host. Shared some amazing pasta with me when I arrived, arranged a bike, and even a canal tour in his boat. Otherwise he was busy working. The house was immaculately clean, great coffee and tea, quiet location, but still close enough to walk or even better bike into the city center for some action.

  • Damiaan was an awesome host. Perfect balance of friendly & welcoming without being intrusive. He was highly communicative and I felt totally relaxed/ at home at his flat. Though I only rented one room I had the whole place to myself for the weekend which I loved- beautiful garden and great location too

  • Morgan and this apartment were great. The place was quiet and not too far from many places we wanted to see. We walked most places but also bought a 24 hour tram ticket and found we could go all over with that! It would definitely have made sense to rent bicycles if we had stayed more than two nights. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was a nice place to hang out in, as well as in the garden. The quiet cat made if feel even more homey. Morgan did a nice job of orienting us to the city and things to do. Only wish we could have stayed longer, but that wasn't Morgan's fault! Amsterdam is a wonderful city and it's a treat to stay in a private home rather than a hotel while you are there.

  • A quiet and cute little place. Very pretty garden. While out from the main attractions, they are only a few stops away by tram. Some pretty cool bars and eateries near by. Morgan relishes his job as host so expect an offer to be shown a certain place or go somewhere together before you even ask. We had our own itinerary though and were recovering from jet lag but appreciated the offer to go out together. Morgan was out quite a bit but the apartment is only a one bedroom and as the lounge serves as a sleeping area for the host we spent much of our time out of the house too. Hopefully in the future it will be rented out as an entire apartment as that would be ideal. Overall we had a good stay. We had breakfast made for us one of the mornings we were there and began to really like the neighbourhood as we navigated our way around.

Dear travellers, My name is Damiaan. You can also call me David, to make it easy on you. I am 38 years old and I have been living in Amsterdam since 2010. Since last year I discovered Airbnb. Using this, I have been able to share my lovely appartement with people all over the world. Last tuesday I came back from working in Aruba for half a year. My good friend Morgan lived here and he went on with Airbnb. You can read all about how he did in the reviews. I love Amsterdam! I love life and sharing life with others. My app is one of the most beautiful places in the world. You'll see through the pictures how nice it is. But come and have a look for yourself. You won't be disappointed. The app is situated very close to the center, in the upcoming quarter named De Baarsjes. It is very close to everything you need in this rural city. It is also very quiet en superclean. It has every comfort it needs to give you the most lovely expercience you want from visiting here. I do everything to make a good host. I can pick you up from airport or train station. I can arrange bikes, the best way to get around. And then there is De Geus, a 20 foot steel boat, that can give you an even more authentic vantage point of this ancient city build on wooden poles. Water runs through the veins of the Dutch people, so jump on De Geus and don't forget your camera! I have a very open mind. I don't Judge people by their beliefs or how they look. Everyone is welcome here. You can do whatever you want, as long as you leave the place as it was before you came in, so the next visitor can enjoy what you have been enjoying. If there is anything that you don't like or what you want to change, please tell me so that I can improve it in the future. I will leave you as free as you want, but I can always assist you with help or advise if you need it. I have a lot of friends that are here to help you if I am not around, working or travelling. You will never be alone in this big city. I hope to see you soon, Damiaan
