The Space

Located between Kistilano beach and Jericho beach. This 1229 sqft loft like entirely open suite will allow you to enjoy your stay in Vancouver. There is hardwood flooring in all of the suite but the bathroom, which features Italian tiles. Beams are apparent. There is wireless internet, a washer, a dryer, a dishwasher, a DVD player.

There are several restaurants within 2 blocks: Kerkis (greek food), Aphrodite’s Organic Cafe and Pie Shop, La Quercia (upscale Italian restaurant). Wonderful in summertime to admire the beautiful pink sunsets, is the Galley, a 15 minutes walk along Jericho Beach. There are also several Japanese, indian, chinese restaurants and many cafes in the vicinity. Become a Vancouverite and walk your cafe to the beach, any time of the day!

Kitsilano is a popular neighbourhood, with centenarian houses and leafy streets. From your suite, you can walk to several beaches (Jericho, Locarno, Spanish Banks, Kitsilano), the kits outdoor pool (one lap is 137-meter long!), the Jericho Sailing Club (paddle boards available for rent at Ecomarine). Hop in the bus or take your car to visit the UBC campus, the Museum of Anthropology (MOA), the Art Gallery, Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquarium, the amazing downtown Vancouver Public Library, Robson street stores, the seawall, Yaletown... Let's not forget Wreck Beach, the swim-suit optional beach west to UBC!

Buses are 2 blocks away, allowing an easy access to the Vancouver airport, UBC, downtown.

The house is minutes away from the UBC campus and downtown, in a very quiet and charming neighbourhood. Part of the deal is a 500 sqft cedar deck to enjoy the garden and relax.

Although we love animals, it's a no pet apartment rental.

  • My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights over a long weekend getaway. Overall the experience was good and I'd recommend anyone staying here.

Pros - Cool, open space layout. Large floor plan with nice bed and nice shower and tub. In a great neighborhood with many great restaurants within easy walking distance. Also, close to the water and not a far drive from downtown. Easy parking on the street and good, fast wireless internet.

Cons - The suite is actually the walkout basement of the host's permanent residence - this isn't clearly stated in the description and is only evident by looking at the pictures. This typically isn't a big deal although it was quite noisy when the host was home, including what we think was a very active dog (running) and a relatively late (past 11:00) gathering of people on Saturday night. Also, the ceiling height is very low - if you're 6' or over watch overhead for the cross beams! And lastly, the heating isn't controlled separately from the main residence so it was quite cool during the day (when they were gone) and didn't warm up until later in the evening (we visited in February).

Again, our overall experience was nice and I'd recommend this place based on the cool factor of the suite and its location. With just a few adjustments to the clarification that it's a basement, the noise, and the heat, it'd be a perfect 5!

    The Vancouver Connection!
    Response from The Vancouver Connection!:

    Hi Jason,

I'm glad you mentioned these points. You're totally right. We'll add them to the description of the place so future guests will have a clearer idea of what to expect. Having said that when we know well in advance that guests are coming we don't invite people in our place for the reason you mentioned (noise because of wooden floor in a heritage house). Thanks for your feedback. Michel

  • Michel was a great host and the apartment was awesome and unique. Kitsilano is a nice area to stay in Vancouver. We highly recomment Michel and his apartment for everybody who wants to visit Vancouver! If we came back to Vancouver we would always stay at Michel´s again.

  • The apartment is absolutely immaculate and very pleasant and spacious! It is very clear that Michel has put a lot of personal work into it resulting in a well thought through, functional and unique environment! We loved being closed to the beach with lots of walking possibilities and a great view of downtown Vancouver which was reachable within a very easy ten minute car ride or bus connection. We will surely be back! Thank you very much Michel!

  • We thought the apartment was very spacious and well appointed. It was very near the beach and in the pleasant leafy area of Kitsilano. There were good restaurants and shops nearby and buses to take you to the centre of town. Michel was a charming host.

  • We had the pleasure to stay a full week in this wonderful loft/apartment. We stayed there with our son (18 years old) without any problems, because the very nice appartment is big enough for three people. It is very nice furnished and has all what you need (incl. a kicker). The kitchen is full equipped. We felt at home. The apartment is located in the suburbs of Kitsilano and you can reach very easily the beach and with the bus you are within 15 minutes downtown. Michel and Helene are very lovely and helpful people. We were happy that we have met them, and when we return to Vancouver, we will as well return to them, because there is no choice!!!

  • I stayed with my wife and daughter (aged 15) for a week in this stylish apartment. The fully equipped kitchen gave us the option of eating in when we felt like it. Table Football and a vast selection of DVDs and big screen provide in-house entertainment. We also loved the outdoor sitting space on the deck with space both in the sun and the shade just outside the door. Michel and Helene were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. This was our first first visit to Vancouver and we liked being in the quiet leafy suburb of Kitsilano, close to the beach, local facilities and good bus links to the city centre. Thank you!
