we had a great stay at hobo b&b. the room was lovely, good bed, nice breakfast and a wonderful host. we went to venice for the evening and arrived late - this was no problem because we got the key and enough instructions on how to get in. this place is excellent for travellers on the way throught to or from venice.
There are certain places in the world that hold a special place in my heart. Hobo B&B has wiggled it's way in amongst them! Many thanks to Valentina, Missy, & Minou for the warmth and hospitality they showered upon me in their lovely home. The care is apparent in the small details~ the bright clean bedrooms, the breakfast table brimming over with morning offerings, the greeting committee (missy & minou~ tails wagging, motors purring), the shelves lined with travel guides from around the world, and in the smile upon Valentina's face as her enthusiasm for the place she lives shines forth. Hobo B&B is a true gem of Italy. Near Venice as well as other destinations (via train & guidance from the lovely host), it is well worth a stay. I hope to return again one day. Grazie Valentina! Thanks so very much, Vickie (Asheville, NC)
It is spacious, clean, and quiet. Valentina picked us up and dropped us off at the train station when we arrived and left. She is an absolutely wonderful host. You will definitely be well taken care of here.
We were there solely for visiting Venice and one drawback for us was the distance. The last train is at 10:15. We missed it once and there are not many options for getting back! It would also have been nice to be able to pop back to the room to rest for the afternoon during the hottest part of the day and head back out again, but that would've taken more than an hour total of commuting and another 4.80 euros each for train tickets.
But if you have a car and want to explore the other cities in the area like verona, padua, or treviso along with Venice, this would be absolutely perfect!
In short: five stars for hospitality and four for location.
I enjoyed our stay at Hobo B&B. Valentina is extremely gracious, and has built a wonderful b&b from the ground up. She picked us up at the train station with our bags and was kind enough to take us to the airport early in the morning for a small fee.
The only caveat one must realize is the distance from the city of Venice. I don't think the listing emphasizes this enough; it's either a 30-40 minute walk or a 10-15 minute bike ride to/from the station. My mom hadn't been on a bike in 25 years, and was not happy about our daily commute. With her being too anxious to ride the whole thing (1/2 way without a sidewalk), it took us about 25 minutes to ride/bike. Trains come every 20-40 minutes, so make sure you know the schedule and account for the time spent biking/walking.
We had a fine stay and I recommend this B&B, just be aware of the time required to get in/out of the city - especially if you don't bike.
This BNB is really amazing. Valentina lives for her guests, she integrates them so naturally into her own procedures, its really amazing. Each rooms got its own colour. I was hosted in the yellow room which had really nice details - everythinh with relation to the colour. She picks you up at the railway station if you like or lends you a bike. So you can feel completely independent. Cheers!
Valentina is a great host. She made us feel comfortable and at home the moment we arrived. She treats you like a long time friend. She designed her place beautifully; it is spacious and has a nice mix of modern and rustic. We only stayed for two nights but we could see ourselves staying for weeks. The location is ideal for visiting Venice, especially, when you travel by car.
We highly recommend Hobo and would/will go back.
