A seven-bedroomed Georgian country house in County Mayo, Ireland in a little village called Shrule about twenty five minutes drive from Galway city. Close to Lakes Corrib and Mask and the beautiful countryside of the west of Ireland. Two of the bedrooms are en-suite and there are three separate bathrooms. Rooms are simply but comfortably furnished and the overall ambiance is one of relaxed informality where you make yourself at home and unwind.
Available for individuals or groups. Ample parking. House is set on three acre site so lots of brisk country walks if you are in the mood. Otherwise just curl up by one of the open fires. Also on the grounds are the ruins of 12th century Norman castle- great for history buffs and lovers of antiquities. Wireless internet available.
There are regular bus services to Galway city and to towns in Mayo such as Castlebar and Mayo. There is a village store for the daily papers and most of your basic needs. Also in the village is a post office, a butcher's and four pubs! In the nearby towns of Ballinrobe and Headford you can find some decent restaurants and some great takeaways. Galway is about 20 miles if you want lively nightlife and culture. Also nearby is the picturesque village of Cong. The local area is rich in history and if you are a lover of castles, abbeys and ancient ruins then this is an excellent base from which to explore the west of Ireland.
You will find a warm welcome and an informal relaxed atmosphere in period surroundings which are also family friendly with plenty of space in which to roam and explore.
