About This Listing
Staten Island... the often forgotten borough of New York City. Just a 25 minute Ferry Ride to and from the City of New York! The Staten Island Ferry runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 Days a year (including all holidays) and is Free to get back and forth to NYC. You will also get to see unbelievable views of the New York City Skyline and Statue of Liberty while you are crossing over. Did I mention that the Ferry is Free??? Yes it is one of the best deals you will find in NYC!! Once you cross over to lower Manhattan you will find the Metro that will take you to anywhere you want in the City.
The place is located in the area known as Saint George and is about an 8 minute Metro Bus ride to the Ferry or if you are feeling up to it you could walk. The bus lets you off right on the corner. There are several buses that travel this route so the wait is minimal. I suggest you check out (website hidden) to find approx travel times and distances from our apartment which is located at the corner of Victory Blvd and Jersey St Staten Island, NY.
The room is located in our house on the 2nd floor and shares a bathroom with up to 6 other guests at any given time. It has beautiful hardwood floors and a queen size bed that sleeps 2 comfortably. There is also a 25 " Flat Screen TV with basic channels... not that you will be spending much time in the room.
On the 1st floor you will find the Cafe... apart from the house with its own separate entrance. The Cafe is equipped with kitchen table, sink, dishes, pots & pans, full size stove, microwave, coffee maker and water cooler all at your disposal. There is a refridgerator as well.
The room is for low maintenance travelers. We are normally out and about. Guests that are happy staying with us are typically self-sufficient people who are able to troubleshoot and configure things such as TV, Internet, replace a light bulb, turn on heat and ac by themselves and unclog a toilet with a plunger as well as clean up after themselves. Of course things of a more serious nature will be handled promptly.
***Please note that this is a private room in our home where we live. If sharing the kitchen and bathroom facilities is not for you please consider other alternatives. This IS a safe, clean and economic alternative to pricey NYC and only 1/2 hour away.***

The room was nice, clean and extremely cozy. The sheets and towels were clean, the bed was comfy. We had a lot of privacy since we didn't even ran up with the other guests, the bathroom was also clean and convenient. Our host was always nice, handy and kind. She even let us park in her parking site and helped us with our bags! The house is only a bus and a ferry away from NYC, extremely good! Loved the experience!
If you're looking for an affordable alternative to Manhattan and would rather sail than travel underground, this is a viable option. Conveniently located close to the free 24 hour ferry, with many buses to take you there.
Bendiciones.
Clean and quiet place. I love to take the ferry from Staten Island to go to Manhattan.
Our host was amazing, cleaned the bathroom everyday and was helpful when we were clueless about the neighborhood. Our bed was comfortable and warm. The room was cozy and loaded with a fridge, TV and a dresser for our clothes!!! It was worth every penny! The neighborhood was friendly and conviently located next to every shop you'll need. The ferry was super easy to catch and works all the time, truth. A note to travelers: don't hide money in a trash can, you might forget it's there and then you throw out a thousand dollars without realizing it.
Great, off-the-beaten-track New York City neighborhood. Traveling on the Staten Island Ferry is awesome--the views of the city are spectacular, and the ride is free. From there to the house is easy. 6 minutes on a bus, 15 minutes on foot. The vicinity has lots of great Sri Lankan restaurants and groceries.
This is a great option for people who like to be independent, lodged comfortably, and left to explore on their own. All highly functional, very clean, no frills, and a bargain. The hosts are friendly, easy to reach, and responsive.
Very nice clean place . Host was pleasant and helpful. Although that part of SI may be a bit rough round the edges then don't let that deter you. For what you pay and the convenience of being only 30 mins from downtown Manhattan then you cant grumble.. Loads of convenience stores and food outlets. I was doing the NY marathon and Tonis pizzeria and pasta a few mins down the road was the best carb load preperation place ive come accross :) Great value for money and perfect if you are on a budget.. Thanks J ..all the best
