Staten Island... the often forgotten borough of New York City. Just a 25 minute Ferry Ride to and from the City of New York! The Staten Island Ferry runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 Days a year (including all holidays) and is Free to get back and forth to NYC. You will also get to see unbelievable views of the New York City Skyline and Statue of Liberty while you are crossing over. Did I mention that the Ferry is Free??? Yes it is one of the best deals you will find in NYC!! Once you cross over to lower Manhattan you will find the Metro that will take you to anywhere you want in the City.
The place is located in the area known as Saint George and is about an 8 minute Metro Bus ride to the Ferry or if you are feeling up to it you could walk. The bus lets you off right on the corner. There are several buses that travel this route so the wait is minimal. I suggest you check out (website hidden) to find approx travel times and distances from our apartment which is located at the corner of Victory Blvd and Jersey St Staten Island, NY.
The room is located on the 2nd floor and shares a bathroom with up to 6 other guests at any given time. It has beautiful hardwood floors and a full size bed that sleeps 2 comfortably. There is also a 25 " TV with basic channels... not that you will be spending much time in the room.
On the 1st floor you will find the Cafe... apart from the house with its own separate entrance. The Cafe is equipped with kitchen table, sink, dishes, pots & pans, full size stove, microwave, coffee maker and water cooler all at your disposal. There is a refridgerator as well.
The room is for low maintenance travelers. We are normally out and about and are rarely on premise. Guests that are happy staying with us are typically self-sufficient people who are able to troubleshoot and configure things such as TV, Internet, replace a light bulb, turn on heat and ac by themselves and unclog a toilet with a plunger as well as clean up after themselves. Of course things of a more serious nature will be handled promptly.
This is NOT a luxury hotel located in the Center of Manhattan. This is a small private room in a shared apartment. If sharing the kitchen and bathroom facilities is not for you please consider other alternatives. This IS a safe, clean and economic alternative to pricey NYC and only 1/2 hour away.

Highly recommend staying in one of Terry's rooms in Staten Island. The commute to the city is very easy and kind of nice to finish the day with a relaxing ferry trip across the harbor and an easy bus ride that drops you off a 1/2 block from the door. In the mornings, I just did the easy 15 minute walk to the ferry but the bus was always there if needed. As for the room, everything you need for a great price. Bonus, the bed was very comfortable.
The aspect I loved most was how clean everything was kept. The shared bathroom was always spotless and I stayed for a little more than a month and there was always fresh sheets and towels every week. The kitchen was nice too as it allowed me to save some money and make a couple meals to take with me everyday. Terry is a top AirBnB host, always very kind and always got back to me immediately.
I went along with my friend Gunjan and we had a nice stay thanks to Terry and Greg. This place is comfortable clean and cozy environment.. Just what was expected and needed for a trip to New York city .. never got a chance to meet Greg or terry but Greg was very helpful over the phone making sure everything was set for us when we arrived. The place is conveniently located and safe. Made life really easy in terms of travel to and from the ferry. Well connected. We Will most certainly want to stay here again the next time around when I visit New York City. The only aspect that cannot really be helped is of the noise from outside that can disturb you if your a light sleeper due to the many garbage trucks moving around. Besides that for a small place to stay and see New York this is the one.
I stayed at this place 3 weeks. Terry and Greg are great and helpful hosts. Very nice place and quiet neighborhood. I recommend for everyone!
Cheap, clean and conveniently located. Thanks!
This was the greatest trip ever!
A Dream travelling with my son and watching his eyes blink to all the lights from the Sky Line from the ferry, when we were heading back to Terry's home each night! Walking downhill in the morning was just what we needed to wake up!
Perfect place to stay a couple of days and enjoy to sleep in a calm neabourghood!
Thank you Terry!
Terry took me in last minute, when my NY plans failed - the room was just right: enough space to safely keep my luggage, while I was out all day and a comfortable bed to get a good night's sleep and be off on adventures the next day. I had no trouble sharing the bathroom with the other guests; I never had to wait to shower. I could also leave my luggage in the kitchen after check-out, which was very cool, since my flight wasn't till late in the day.
If you're a romantic, you'll love going on the ferry to Manhatten each day! And taking the bus to Terry's is a piece of cake!
Very nice there, area is not good looking, but safe anought.
Everything worked perfectly. The room was quite big and clean. The kitchen was also nice to have. Even though the place is on Staten Island it's quite close to the ferry and you get to see the statue of liberty everyday. Thank you Terry!
The room was perfect just to sleep, the kitchen had everything you might need and I really liked the neighbourhood. The ferry was free and it didnt take that long to get to lower manhattan
Small but cozy. Easy to get to the ferry and would recommend to anyone visiting NYC.
