About this listing
Private room, sharing bathrom, kitchen, balcony and lounge with host. Shared lawn accessed by a few steps down from the balcony, where if lucky you can have a chat with the nice neighbours! Quiet neighbourhood which provides a truly realistic insight into everyday life in eastern Oslo.
Easy to reach from city centre by metro/bus within 25 minutes, as well as easy access to a trek in the woods.
You have access to wireless internet, towels, ready made bed. There is tea and coffe in the kitchen, which you can help yourself to at any time. Feel free to use the balcony or lounge or feel free to withdraw to your room. I am available to give advice on Oslo in general on where to go, what to see and where too eat. You are welcome to dine at home, and feel at home.
The apartment is on the first floor, it contains two bedrooms, a small hall, one bathroom, kitchen, lounge and a space for dining. There is also my precious balcony with a sofa and a barbecue, and entrance to the shared lawn with tables and benches.
Within 5 minutes there are several busstops and two supermarkets. It takes 10 minutes on bus to get to the woods where there are plenty of trails and small lakes. If the timing is right you can borrow my bike (s) to go there or to the citycentre.
I believe a stay at my place is best for young friends or couples, one parent and child, or other openminded people in general. We are also a gay and lesbian friendly household.
Everything. Feel at home!
Interaction with Guests
Quite a lot if you feel like it.
Quite easy if you are used to use public transport. Be aware that if you travel on a budget get your transportation sorted out. Oslo is expensive if you do not have a travelcard as described on worldwideweb RUTER norway.
Never had a difficult guest. I bet you will contribute to this wonderful tradition. You are most welcome :-)
Absolutely 'idyllic suburbia'! Our host was warm and welcoming and exceptionally helpful, the accommodation superb and the location great - in lovely suburban surroundings but with quick easy access using public transport to the city. And a convenient supermarket close by.
Altogether highly recommended.
Siv is a really nice woman. At the moment we met her I just feel like that I've known her for a long time. She is very open and very warmhearted. She even borrowed a bike from her friend for me, but so pitiful I am just too short to ride it. And she gave us many useful suggestions so that we had a good time in Oslo. Beyond that she also let us to try her homemade bread and jam. It was fantastic!
From the moment we came to Siv's flat, we immediately felt at home. Siv is a great, very outgoing and relaxed person. She gave us lots of traveltips and let us use her apartment as if it was ours. The flat is fully equipped with everything one might need and very easy to reach by bus from the city center. I can totally recommend staying at Siv's place!
Siv is a great host, very welcoming, very friendly. The house is located in calm and beautiful Oslo suburb, about 15-20 min walk from the nearest metro, 5 min from bus station (both use same transport card). The house has everything you need - fully equipped kitchen, nice bathroom, a beautiful backyard. You will have a nice room, it was well enough place for two of us.
Siv advised us places to see in Oslo, and even had a special guest shelf in the fridge with national treats :)
Definitely recommend to everyone. Best place for a reasonable price.
We had a really enjoyable stay with Siv. She was very kind and flexible. The flat was comfortable, warm and we used the kitchen a lot. Siv was away for most of the time we stayed at her place but we had everything we needed.
The location was great. It is outside the centre as described but that wasn't a problem. We borrowed her bikes one day and rode into town. It is down hill all the way - great fun and very quick! Another day we caught a bus east and went to Lutvann lake. We walked around it. Amazingly beautiful. Not a person in sight.
I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for somewhere cheaper than central Oslo. Siv is a wonderful host.
The house was very cozy and warm. You really feel like at home. Kitchen is well equipped and you can prepare your meal if you wish. Our room was comfortable, for one and two persons it's OK. The district it's not in the centre but it's easy to take a bus and get to the centre, the transport in Oslo is very good. The district is calm and quiet, you can really realx. You have a shop near the house if you want to buy some food, but remember in Norway you cannot buy a beer / alcohol after 20.00 and in the weekend after 18.00. Siv is very friendly person and makes you feel good at her home. I recommended!
This place was great. I was a little worried that it would be too out of the way since it is in the suburbs, but we actually loved being outside of the city a little bit. The area is gorgeous, and it is close to the public transportation and the airport shuttle. The room was a little small, but it worked well for us. Siv and her son were very accommodating and helped us navigate Oslo as well as giving us some tips on what to do and see. Highly recommended!
If you are coming from/going to Gardermoen Airport I would suggest using public transportation. I think it costs 90NOK while the airport express cost 160NOK.
About the Host, Siv
Active and sporty, working full time. Love traveling myself and appreciate to welcome travelers when I have to be at home myself. I spend much of my time outside, on my bike, with my skis or downtown with friends. When at home I spend more time in the kitchen than in front of the telly. Or I might just sit down reading. I love living in Oslo and will be glad to share some of my enthusiasm about this place with future guests as I already have done with the ones staying at my place through (website hidden).
