Monteverde Rustic Lodge, delightful

Bed & Breakfast - Private room · Santa Elena Monteverde, Santa Elena, Puntarenas, Costa Rica

The Space

Rustic Lodge is a true piece of rustic and family atmosphere that is difficult to find in our busy world. The rooms are spacious, clean and have nice bathrooms. The best thing about the place is the owner - he will explain all the adventure touring options in the area and make reservations for you. It's also just a short walk into the main street of Santa Elena for dinner. Breakfast was included and always had fresh fruit and toast

The Rustic Lodge is pristine, breakfast is delicious and there is free high speed Internet.
Our mission is to make sure that every single guest we have has a great individual experience and that each of you will go home with some wonderful memories.

Friendly, we will go out of our way to make your stay a perfect one. We are all from Monteverde, working here for over 60 years, and are knowledgeable of the area. Please feel free to ask us about our local histories and legends.

  • Great central location for exploring the area at very reasonable rates. Jose and Eduardo were wonderful hosts and quite knowledgeable about the area, providing information regarding the Cloud Reserve, various other tours and recommendations on dining. The morning breakfasts were plentiful and varied with lots of fruit, juices, fresh coffee and a different entree each day. Rooms were clean and comfortable, don't expect a TV and it was a bit noisy as at least four have adjoining walls in the building at the back of the motel complex. That said, we had a very pleasant experience, would recommend the lodge to anyone looking for clean, comfortable and inexpensive accommodations in the area.

  • Really a nice place and a great deal. We loved Monteverde/Santa Elena and this was a great place to access it all. An easy walk to the Santa Elena city center without being stuck in the middle of the bustling tourist center. The staff here was fantastic. Lots of recommendations, assistance and seemed to genuinely want to show off the fantastic place where they live. Also they served a terrific breakfast every morning with never ending delicious, local coffee. Highly recommend this place and the area in general!

  • The hosts at the Monteverde Rustic Lodge are the absolute kindest people! They were happy to offer us coffee upon our arrival and helped us schedule a tour.

Accommodations were simple, with one full size bed for 2 people in a small room. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of fresh fruit each morning! Walk to town was about 10 minutes, but there was a small convenient store and restaurant just down the street.

Overall good value and just perfect for people seeking simple accommodations and friendly hosts:)

  • The room was clean and large. The breakfast and hospitality were wonderful. We appreciated the help with booking our tours and the suggestion of the nice inexpensive Tico close by.

When I booked I was told the last room available for 4 people was $100 a night which was higher than what was advertised on airbus. When we got there it looked like there were other rooms available that would have slept 4. The room we had was very big. Too big to be cozy. I didn't ask for another room because my 2 teenage daughters were happy to have there own beds since there were 2 double beds and one single bed in the room.

The white shiney tile floors looked like an ice skating rink which took away from the rustic ambience. Perhaps the addition of rugs and functional fabric or leather furniture would soften the appearance and create a more rustic feeling to the place.

  • Monteverde Rustic Lodge was one of the highlights of our two-week vacation in Costa Rica. Erick was professional and handled all of our travel from Arenal - La Fortuna to the hotel. Upon check-in we were greeted by Jose who is OUTSTANDING. He was warm, friendly, helpful and went above an beyond to make sure that we knew of all the best things to do and see while in town. He was always available to answer questions and booked us on a great ziplining trip and coffee tour. The rooms are new and clean and the hotel is very cozy and charming. I would highly recommend staying here.

  • Jose and his brother were great hosts, and run an amazing, beautiful and affordable wooden lodge in a quiet part of St. Elena. We had a great visit to Monteverde, and Erick was great in booking and helping us with logistics!

  • We had a great 2 day stay in Monteverde in late December. The owners took great care to advise us on restaurants, activities and were always available to assist us. Their restaurant recommendations were particularly outstanding as was their selection of a guide for the Cloud Forest hike. The room was very nice, clean and large. Coffee was always available in the dining room and it was a very comfortable place to hang out when not hiking the cloud forest, zip lining etc... Everyone spoke great English so we felt right at home. I would highly recommend this hotel for a future visit to the Monteverde area.
