The place is really good, comfy and near from bars, supermarket, pharmacy, restaurants. My friends and I had a great time in DC and it's not that far from the main touristic places in DC, we just used buses. I totally recommend :)
The room has a wonderful and convenient position. It's really close to almost everywhere in D.C
Paul's hospitality is wonderful and he helped me a lot.
I totally recommended this place.
The apartment has it's pros and cons but all in all I had good 2,5 months in this place. It has a perfect location - It's not too far from anywhere and there's lots of shops and restaurants really close. Most of the time I felt like living in a studio since you have water and small fridge in your room. The building is not really well built but what I saw it was the same thing in all affordable places in DC. Luckily Paul and Nigel helped me with everything. When it rained inside, Nigel booked a hotel for me and my gf for the next two nights. When I needed something they brought it to me. The friendliness of Paul and Nigel made me feel really comfortable in this place.
I very much enjoyed staying in Paul's room, which has got everything you could ask for in terms of kitchen equipment (fridge, microwave, stove) etc.
Getting the keys worked out really well in the end with Paul's brother Nigel handing them over to me when I arrived; I had been a bit worried beforehand because noone had got back to the e-mail and text message I had sent, but no problems at all in the end.
The area is really great for shops, for eating out and also for public transport. Definitely to be recommended.
Room ok, location great, organization bad. We talked to the owner the day before arriving, he said no problem if we arrive late, just give him a call a couple of hours before. We tried calling, texting, emailing the next day, no reply. We couldn't get in touch with him, waited 30 min in front of the door, then a guy showed up with the keys who had no idea about anything (parking, internet, etc.). We didn't get the room keys till the next day, so we couldn't lock it and there were other people living in the apt too. Place would be good if the organization were better!
Paul's appartment is in a awesome neighbourhood: you have all the bar's and dining rooms and cafés and even department stores close to you. You have everything! I had a lot of fun there. The appartment is penthouse-kind and cute, although it might need a bit decoration. But what I really didn't like, was that Paul wasn't reachable at all. After confirmation of my reservation I didn't get a single response to my e-mails I left in airbnb and as I was staying at his place in DC, I had always somebody else talking to me. I found it a little strange. And in addition, the internet wasn't working so good.
There are two rooms. We got the smaller one, the larger one was empty so we didn't have to share the bathroom.
The place was very simple and not very clean in general. There where only one very small wardrobe.
The air conditioning and ventilation in our room was good. We wanted to use WiFi with mobile phones. The signal strength was very weak. Maybe a laptop with better reception wouldn't have that problem.
The only way we could communicate with Paul is SMS messages. He didn't reply our messages on Airbnb or email.
We didn't get any instructions how to get in, so it took a while to get into our room.
At first, he left on the bed the keys of the other room. Because i didn't know US style locks, it took me an hour to realize that none of the six keys on the chain is for our room.
Paul's brother visited us on the second day. He helped us in everything, he exchanged the keys to the good ones.
He gave us a visitor parking pass so we didn't have to care for parking fees.
The neighborhood is very good. The subway station is about 10-15 min walking. There are restaurants and supermarket in 100 meter. The streets are overcrowded with parking cars especially at the evenings, so we found parking slot in two streets away.
Eventually we didn't meet with Paul. If he had been there to welcome us, i think we wouldn't have that much problems.
My family and I had a great experience. This place is very simple but had all the amenities we needed, including stove, mini fridge, cable and wifi. Plus the hosts were very sweet and accommodating by helping us whenever we needed. I strongly recommend using their place! You can't beat a great price with a great location!
We never met paul but we stayed in contact.
The kitchen didn't have everything we needed but after asking we get everything we wanted. The location is great and its very fast to get where ever you want. The bath and the room are not luxurious but ok if you are not planning to stay to much in and are more of a outgoing person. Unfortunaltely we had a blackout twice.
Paul's place was as he described and was situated in the heart of
DC. Everything was accessible. His brothers greeted us and was very helpful in getting my friend and I settled. At no time did we feel uncomfortable and what I noticed about him was that he was dependable. I was able to reach him via email or phone and he responded promptly.
I would surely book with Paul again if I ever re- visit Washington DC.
