For about the same price our honeymoon cottage provides a cozy location near the beach with a sense of privacy you just can't get at a tourist hotel.
The Honeymoon Cottage is a one-bedroom (queen-size bed) hideaway cottage with its own private garden and beach access to Aliomanu Bay in Kauai. We are located in a rural neighborhood, but just 15 minutes (driving time) from Kapaa, Kilauea and Princeville amenities or a healthy walk (about 20 minutes) to Anahola eateries, post office and general store.
Amenities include: Casual kitchen (w/2 burner cook top, microwave, toaster & toaster oven, full size frig), Living Room, Breakfast nook, Barbecue on Lanai, Cable TV, CD & DVD players, Washer/Dryer and Ceiling fans. Internet access can be purchased for $30/stay. Portable A/C available for $5/day extra. This is often not needed as cool breezes frequently blow, but sometimes and especially if you have breathing problems, when the breezes slow, the A/C would be advisable.
How far to the beach? 35-40 steps depending on how big your stride. There is a private path from the cottage to Aliomanu Beach. The beach is protected by a coral reef, located about 50 yards out. No big waves come into the swimming area. At low tide you can examine the tide pools or walk out to the reef in shallow water, though there are deeper places to swim. For my taste the water is a bit chilly during the winter months, but I do see people out enjoying the water all year long.
Though a car would be great for exploring the island on your own, we'll be happy to pick you up at the airport ($30/each way) or give you one of several guided tours of our beautiful island (driving@$20/hour or neighborhood walking for free)

Interesting experience. Dave is a very gregarious host, giving us a tour of the surrounding beach as we arrived. Unfortunately, we had to walk away after a day and a half. The cottage was quite stale, with little ventilation. Being behind the main house, away from the beach, the bugs and mosquitoes became unbearable. Additionally, there were large cane spiders outside 2 of the windows with numerous webs that gave it a 'creep' factor.
We are so sorry that Mike and his lady had a bad time. The unit has 5 fans and we have a portable A/C unit that can be installed for $5/day fee. Also sorry the landscaper missed the spider webs, but if told about it we would have happily removed them. It was unfortunate that the breeze died down and that means the mosquitoes can find you. We have Terminex service quarterly, but the in the tropics, bugs thrive. We try to do all we can to help our guests enjoy their stay, but since Mike didn't tell us he was unhappy until he had already moved out, we couldn't try to solve the problems.
We had the best two weeks ever! Dave and Deana were very kind and were available whenever we needed help with anything. We also were allowed such privacy that we felt like we were the only people on the whole block.
The cottage is very private with a very cute yard that is perfect for private suntanning and breakfast, lunches, and dinners on the patio table.
The plumaria tree in the yard smells so amazing! It was great watching the flowers build up on the ground throughout our stay.
We took a nice tour with Dave of the properties in the area that are home to various fruit trees! He was very kind and gave us more fruit than we could eat!
Overall, it was a wonderful time and would recommend this cottage for not only honeymoons but a great getaway for two! We will defiantly be returning in the future!
Deana and Dave were very nice hosts. They welcomed us on arrival (we were a little early, but they graciously accommodated us), and gave us privacy for the duration of our stay.
The cottage is in an ideal location if you plan to explore both the south and north shores of the island. The beach really is only a few steps away, it was beautiful, peaceful, and we had it to ourselves most of the time.
The Honeymoon Cottage is a very lovely place to stay on Kauai. Dave and Deana are available to assist if needed and leave you to your self if that is your preference. The cottage is very clean, sweet and seconds from the ocean. It is a great location to get to every other part of the island. There is shopping near by and we loved the convenience of our own place to cook breakfast. We also liked the privacy. Because it was an unusually rainy week in Kauai, we were in the cottage a little more than we would have been if it was sunny and warm ~ the privacy was great! Thanks Dave & Deana
Dave & Deana are awesome, friendly and super helpful! The house is beautifully situated close to the beach and in front of the stunning, and amazing energy of Anahola Mountain.
I highly recommend staying in the sweet honeymoon cottage.
You will hear the ocean, and smell the flowers while eating breakfast :)
Deana and Dave"s Cottage was fantastic! It was perfectly located on Kauai for exploring the Island. The house is bigger in person than it looks in pictures and we really enjoyed the close, nearly empty beach. The multiple windows allow lovely breezes and the house has everything you could want. I borrowed a mask and flippers for snorkeling which was a wonderful perk. The kitchen is casual, two burners, but we easily managed to cook a few very good meals. The lanai is perfect for morning sun and very private. Treat yourself to your own house instead of some lame hotel for the same, and even better price! We are definitely going to return~
