The Space

PLEASE NOTE-In order to accommodate you or your group appropriately, we will need additional information. For example, your group may not fit in one room, you may wish to occupy more than one room or a level of the home.

Charges vary by number of persons, space, room/s, weekends/special holidays or events and length of stay.

(Stays of 2 weeks or more are Welcome!)

My apologies but it is difficult to address each and every possibility we can provide so the site calculator and/or calendar will NOT be correct.

Please verify availability and rates with the host prior to booking.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance in providing you a memorable vacation and stay.

This home has 4 levels, 3 separate apartments, multiple rooms and a variety of accommodations available for different budgets and needs along with a full size bathroom on each level for our guests comfort and convenience.

As hosts, we typically remain on the property full time and operate as a hostel and/or dormitory style environment. The entire home is not typically available March thru October when we cannot tear ourselves away from this amazing city!

We welcome you to respectfully enjoy our home as if it were your own, with access to the living areas, decks, eat in kitchens, etc.

Our Neighborhood and Why we Love it-

This neighborhood is one of the most notable and desirable. Ideally located to call home base when working in the city or visiting to explore the local attractions. Our clean, safe home is nestled conveniently between the 24/7 speedy Red line and Brown Addison train stops. The #9 (North and South) and the #152 (East and West) bus stops are at each end of our block.

Wrigley Field is just a short walk from our home and baseball fans enjoy free parking as our guest for game nites.

After dark when the "Loop" and downtown sites are desolate, enjoy the uniqueness of one of the best North side neighborhoods, Lakeview. Experience great restaurants, a plethora of bars, shop at our local stores all within walking distance at nearby Lincoln Avenue and Wrigleyville. Just 2 blocks away, check out the up and coming Southport Corridor and Music Box Theater.

The speedy train will have you to the steps of all area sites within minutes; such as Magnificient Mile for the shoppers, Museum Campus for those who wish to explore the Shedd Aquarium, Field and Science and Planetarium. Or if your wish is to wander Navy Pier or take in the beauty of Lake Shore Drive and the miles of lakefront bike paths, this is it.

The Bean, Millennium Park, Grant Park, Soldier Field, Navy Pier, Lincoln Park and the free Zoo all easy trips as are neighborhoods like Old Town for a visit to Second City, great restaurants and nightlife or trendy Bucktown and Wicker Park for shopping or food tours .

Nearby DePaul and Loyola make this a great stay for parent visits or temporary housing for college students on break or while awaiting permenant housing. Situated in a convenient location to all city and suburb hospitals for an easy commute if here for a medical internship or rotation.

Sleep peacefully-We are close enough to the "EL" for convenience but far enough that it is a distant if unnoticeable sound. Rest soundly in a comfy raised loft style bed or a cozy twin air mattress in a shared room for travelers or working guests. Afraid of heights? Ask for the spacious bed underneath the loft:)

Our place is a great option for those adventurous spirits looking to "live like a local" in a safe, clean and inexpensive pad while seeing the sites.

Share this convenient space with fellow travelers or meet other working guests in transition and moving to the area. Enjoy a wonderful breakfast to get your day started while hearing about other guests journeys. Wind down at the end of a long day of site seeing on one of 3 outdoor decks. Learn about where fellow travelers are from and where they are headed. Enjoy impromptu s'mores in the fire pit or a glass of wine with other guests and hosts.

We've got it all! Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and Jewel Osco are just a couple of blocks. We provide Wifi, cable TV, parking, etc. We love hosting out of town guests and ensuring they have a great experience. We realize you are either on vacation or here for business and want you to feel right at home. Whatever we can do to make this a memorable trip, please let us know.

Be our guests! Be our guests! Be our guests :)

*Smoking is permitted on the rear deck only!!

**Parking-This neighborhood has free non permitted parking which is relatively available except during Cubs game nites. We provide free parking passes to our guests on game nites, however, if you would like an in and out covered parking space, we do have one or two available for $25 per day which is a reasonable price for this City. The parking for hotels per nite is $25 to $50 per day!

***Wish to maintain your workout? Visit Xsports Fitness within walking distance. They offer daily guest passes for $20 or weekly for $45.

  • Stephanie and Chris were wonderful hosts. This was my first time using Airbnb and I have to say that choosing Stephanie and Chris's home was the best decision. I was moving to a big city and was concerned if I would be able to find the right place, but Stephanie and Chris turned out to be superb hosts. First, I have to tell you that Stephanie and Chris are very professional hosts; I got answers to my questions in minutes, and with a genuinely welcoming tone (not with the artificial tone you would generally find in hotels)! They were very welcoming and were willing to advice on how to get around. Second, they were pretty flexible with the duration of my stay. I initially planned to stay only for a week, but they were happy to extend my stay by a week on a very short notice. Not only that, they also upgraded me to a real mattress (I initially opted for the air mattress)! Third, there are quite a few restaurants and stores at walking distance from their place, so if you need anything, you can get it easily.

I also made a couple of friends while staying at Stephanie and Chris's place. These were people who were in Chicago for about a week or so, or who had just moved to Chicago like me. This was a good opportunity to meet and get to know new people.

Overall, I enjoyed staying with Stephanie and Chris, and would definitely consider staying with them in the future. If you are looking for an economical, convenient and friendly place to stay in Chicago, I would definitely suggest them!

Everything about Varun and his stay encapsulates exactly why we love being hosts. His initial email stated "Dear Host, Thank you very much for opening up your place to people like me. Your place makes it easier to find affordable and friendly places to live in while making transitions in our lives. Thank you Airbnb for building such a wonderful platform that helps people share and care for one another!" As Varun stated, he was our guest initially for just one week while searching for a new home here in Chicago. Something we have been thru so we were happy to host him and help in any way we could, especially since this was his first time to such a big city! He booked a comfy raised twin air mattress in our dormitory space in Apartment C and when he decided to stay a week longer, we thought it would be best to "upgrade" him to a real mattress. Varun has already made a new friend of one of our other guests (Nick, who also left a review here) and was also in search of a new home. Another big win about being hosts to us! We hope to host both of their friends and family when they come to visit in Chicago and look forward to hearing all about our guests adjustment to city living at our next "newcomer" cook out.

    Response from Chris And Stephanie:

Rocky and Hunter were 2 family men that drove from Tennessee to see the Pearl Jam concert at Wrigley Field. We learned alot about the group and the show from them-big fans! Immediately upon arriving, they parked their car in our free non permitted parking neighborhood and walked over to Wrigley to join the festivities-never to be seen again:) It is great to know that they had a good time and felt comfortable enough to stay again.

  • Chris and Stephanie were wonderful hosts, very professional and helpful. The location was blocks from a grocery store, as well as a short walk from the subway. The neighborhood is very safe, quiet and inviting for families. I stayed for a 4 night visit to the city, and it was a wonderful "home base" to relax and unwind after going out for the day.

  • We stayed with Chris and Stephanie for 4 nights while we were visiting Chicago. Having some friends in the city, we didn’t need much information about the city even though I’m sure they would have shared information had we asked. Stephanie and Chris sent me information that listed things to do and see in Chicago prior to the trip. On arrival, the house was not as I expected. I knew that there would possibly be other travelers, which is always exciting to hear about what others had seen or done during the day, but from reading the description, I expected all the other guests to be in the rooms with doors. There are a couple of mattresses and beds in the living room that is on the same level as the kitchen. Luckily, there weren’t any guests staying in the living room while we were there, as that would have proved uncomfortable while getting breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was great, with a collection of bagels and spreads every morning. We stayed in the private room with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. During our time there, we didn’t have much interaction with Stephanie, but all our conversations with Chris were great.

Having no cellphone number in the States did make communication difficult, and we were able to ask a friend for their number to give to Stephanie and Chris so that they could give our friend their address. When travelling from airports time can vary, but Stephanie and Chris knew our arrival time and our friend phoned them as soon as we will on our way from the airport to their house. (We were able to communicate with them two days before to give them an approximate time of arrival). Chris was there to great us, he met our friends and gave us a quick tour of the house as we were on our way to a Cubs game. After the Cubs game, our friends came to the house for a quick drink. When Stephanie and Chris came home, they told us that friends were not allowed in the house - our friends left immediately. In the house rules it does mention that friends aren’t allowed over. Even though I had read the house rules 2 months before, I didn’t remember all of them (there are quite a lot) and we apologized for the error.

The location is great as it is close to Wriggly field (they let my friend park his car in their street), the subway and great shops and restaurants.

    Response from Chris And Stephanie:

We are so happy that Joanne and Rory were able to sleep in one of the most comfortable beds we have and enjoyed the amenities provided like breakfast, our extensive list of recommendations, the decks and even our free parking for their friends. Our guest’s vacation, stay and comfort are of the utmost importance to us. Starting with our extensive written description, as many pictures as allowed with further explanation including the semi-private space along with our detailed house rules. Since we are so thorough, it would be shocking when we received the rare comment that things weren’t what the guests expected. Until recently when we were Airbnb guests ourselves. We then realized our own preconceptions may skew our view. Who knew when renting a boat, it may rock too much! We are all too aware of and appreciate all of the pain staking efforts our hosts made to accommodate us. We never let on that we promptly rented a hotel since it was our oversight. When we began as hosts, our house rules simply stated please be courteous and conscientious. After having experiences that resulted in negative consequences jeopardizing the safety and security of us and our home we of course wished to avoid repeating anything of the sort and felt the need to be more detailed. We ask our guests to review the house rules as well as we reiterate the specific accommodations prior to accepting a booking to ensure we are making our best efforts for an enjoyable stay.

  • It was a wonderful stay with Chris and Stephanie. They are a nice host and put every effort to make my stay wonderful and convenient . The location can't be better than that- just 5 min walk from the two metro lines in a quiet neighborhood. The house is clean and the fridge was stored with Bagels which are pretty good. I wish the Wifi signal would be stronger, but no problem connecting to it. They will be my preferred host for next visit!

  • Hi,

I was the guest of Chris&Stephanie for 5 days. During my stay they were very kind. They were responsible as hosts and they also created a friendly atmosphere. The location of the house was very safe and convenient for someone who comes to Chicago for the first time. I`m so glad that I stayed in their house in my first few days in Chicago.

  • Cris & Stephanie are delightful hosts! They are so attentive and kind to their guests. I have stayed with them twice now and I have been consistently pleased with their hospitality. Both times I had two other guests with me and they also want to visit Cris & Stephanie again! There was ample parking on the street. The bedroom was spotless and had fresh linens. The accommodations were comfortable and at all times I felt safe and welcome. Their responsiveness to communication (app and text message) was excellent. You can be guaranteed that anything they promise you, they will live up to and they will do their best to make your stay an enjoyable one. They are LGBTA friendly and I would recommend them to LGBTA travelers or travelers of any orientation.

About
Hello Fellow Traveler! We welcome you to our Airbnb listing and appreciate that you wish to learn more about us as your potential hosts. We enjoy meeting new people and look forward to sharing with you what we love about Chicago:) Why have we opened our home? We arrived about 3 summers ago for a 3 day business trip, fell in love with Chicago and never left. This is our 3rd summer! Since we are both adventurous spirits, with some trepidation, we tried this thing called "AirBNB". We had such a great experience because of our host; we thought we would pay it forward. What has been our favorite experience hosting so far? Lollapalooza:) Who are we? Chris and I met in High School and reconnected on the site that begins with Face and ends with Book a couple of years ago. We think we have quite the love story that resulted in a proposal a few years back and would be happy to share it with you on one of your relaxing evenings on our deck or over a cup coffee while you are sorting out your travels for the day-but we promise not to bore you with it! What are we doing here? After we reunited, we had the amazing opportunity to become Environmental Stewards for a wonderful company that brought us to Chicago. One of our company's core values is to stimulate the local economy, find other Environmental Stewards like ourselves and train them for leadership roles. (Another great story if you are out of sorts from your trip and can't sleep one nite-and of course care to hear it:) ) What we think about ourselves as hosts? We pride ourselves in being open and available hosts for a chat, a recommendation, throwing darts, a game of scrabble or an impromptu cook out or s'mores on the fire pit but we also completely respect your privacy and understand this is your trip. We only wish to ensure your travels are more than you would have hoped for thru spending time at our home and meeting other guests. Where have we been? Chris is an Army Brat and has lived all over the States and I have traveled around Europe while living in Madrid, Spain for 3 years. Places Chris has lived: He spent his youth in San Antonio, Hawaii, Denver, Colorado Springs and Maryland (the DC area). As an adult, he lived in Kansas City for a bit, he settled for many years in Norman, Oklahoma (if you've heard of it), Dallas/Ft. Worth, back to Maryland (to get me;)) and now Chicago. Places Chris has traveled to: Boston and other parts of Massachusetts in which he has tons of family and for our business, all over New Jersey (our company has a HUGE presence there and helped tremendously with the Hurricane Sandy clean up), many parts of PA (we really enjoyed our time in Pittsburgh), Philly a few times (best sandwiches we have found yet!) and many more. Stephanie lived most of her life in the Maryland area traveling for work in the DC and Virginia areas but joining her friends on their business trips in the States to visit as many cities as possible. Of course, the fun-damentals like Las Vegas, Miami Beach (along with many other Florida cities that my family lives such as Ft. Lauderdale, Deerfield Beach, Jacksonville) and NYC. More relaxing fun in Savannah, GA; Myrtle Beach, SC (where my mom has retired), Portland, OR, Phoenix, AZ (where my brother used to live), San Diego and Coronado (a couple of times since they are some of my favorite), Hawaii (to see the first grandchild in our family), L.A. (had the opportunity to cruise Monterey's 17 mile drive)... Stephanie's European Travels: Of course many of the big cities like Paris (the food!), Munich (best airport ever!), Frankfurt, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, Malaga, Bilbao, Gothenburg, Sweden (for a dear friends wedding), but also some off of the beaten path that became my very favorite memories like Morocco, Tunisia and more.... Places we will go: Brazil, Fiji, South America, Canada....
