Right in the heart of historical Arles "La Roquette" which used to be the fisher's district.
Charming "Arlésienne" house with modern-typed furnishing. Her biggest pro: the presence of a green garden, private, where a large table will let you enjoy meals outside, in the shade of the trees or the arbour.!
She will charm any art and design enthusiast with her elegant decoration, XX's century design "pieces" chosen. On the walls are several contemporary paintings and photographs.
The house is 150 sqmeters + green garden, well exposed to sunlight (south-east), & was totaly renovated in june 2012 therefore is in good condition, all the architecturals details that made provencals houses typical & beautiful have been retained.
We choose to keep the original floors (tiled cement ) in original condition ,
Situated in proximity of all kinds of shops (food, clothing...) and touristic destinations (museums, art galleries, ruins...).
La Roquette is a safe & very lovely district,
You will be at walking distance (less than 3minutes walk garantied) of several bars, restaurants & any attractions...
And good ones, we'll provide you our best choice, the best addresses! Where to be!
Every saturday, is organised one of the biggest and most beautiful open-sky market of Provence, one end of which is 100 meters away from the house. You can actually go everywhere by foot from the house, no need to use your car once you are there.
La Roquette is The place to be in Arles!!!
On the ground floor : entrance, living-room with view on the garden, and a spacious kitchen fully equipped (dish-washer, huge fridge and freezer, wine fridge, large working plane);
A wood stove is there for the relatively cold days of winter.
First floor : small library and a desk with printer and internet connection, 1 bathroom with "italian" shower, 2 bedrooms, one of which has a balcony over the garden.
Second floor : one tv room, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with a big bath.
Vast, free & safe parkings can be found 100 meters away from the house.
As we are strongly involved in sustainable development,
this house has been renovated using as much as possible the original materials and techniques. Insulation has been made with hemp, woodwork were custom built by a local craftman, and painting are water based.
Rooms are equipped with slatted beds, mattresses, pillows made from natural and renewable components in bamboo, soya, wool, linen and natural latex (rubber tree resin) certified Max Havelaar. Sheets and towels are made of organic cotton.
At least, all cleaning and washing products are as muvh as possible organic. Rooms are cleaned only with steam, soap from Marseille (very famous natural and traditional french cleaning product), black soap, vinegar and sodium bicarbonate.
Gardens are conceived and maintained without any chemical products, only organic treatments are provided.
The house is really amazing. Such beautifully arranged tasteful pieces of furniture, appliances and art is really seldom to be found. On foot walking up rue de la Roquette to Place Antonelle you have shops for vegetables, fruits, meat (Gibolin), cheese (Fromagerie Aux Délices de Fromager), bread, pastries and great wines (La Cave du Grand Sud) including Casino and Carrefour City supermarket within five minutes. So even if you do not manage to visit the famous market that is in Saturdays and Wednesdays it is truly a paradise for foodies. The kitchen is well equipped - so we ended up cooking every night except one during a whole week.
Merci pour ce merveilleux séjour ainsi que votre accueil dans votre très jolie maison!
This is a wonderful & lovely house, spacious, practical and very clean. We appreciate particularly the location, in quiet and close to everything.
The perfect place to be
A very attractive full decoration of nice details, the kitchen is very complete, there is everything! And a special distinction for beds and rooms chambers (sheets in thread or in percale!) very comfortable...
Of vast very practical parking lots nearby immediate. Before renting a car, we came by foot since the station in about ten minutes.
Our children appreciate a lot the garden which was even brightened up in November and shielded from the wind (mistral).
We deeply hope to return here during a next stay!!!
Great house in a good area of Arles. Sylvie is wonderful and most responsive to any problems. There is a young lady that will respond within hours for any problems. Only downside, if you want to consider it a downside, is that parking (if you have a car) is limited. There is a parking area a short walk away and often times is full. The trick is to sit there and pounce on the next available spot. Keep in mind that for the larger city market on Saturday morning, parking is even more limited. If you are parked in the wrong area, your car will be towed. Be aware.
Staying at Sylvie's house in Arles was an absolute delight. It is filled with wonderful artworks, furniture, lamps, comfortable beds with beautiful linen sheets. The bathrooms were lovely & clean & the kitchen very well equipped with quality Items. This house has every comfort you would need, plus a gorgeous secluded garden. It is situated in a great spot to discover the delights of Arles & close to the bus station if you wish to explore further afield. Sylvie was a charming host, so thanks Sylvie for your magical house!
Sylvie's house was as beautiful as we expected.
It was so charming and with so many lovely touches to make it a wonderful place to stay in Arles.
Jacqueline greeted us warmly and left the house to us in a very clean state.
We really enjoyed our stay at Sylvie's house and wished we could have stayed longer.
Merci beaucoup Sylvie.
The city house downtown in Arles is located perfect to discover the very interesting city by foot without any problems. The house is so nicly decorated that when you come in, you feel like home from the first second on.. Sylvie has an extraordinary taste, so by wandering through the house, you will discover interesting things in every corner. Moreover Sylvie is a very helpful host, that trys to make your stay as comfortable for you as possible. I can highly recommand this house and host!!!!!!!!!!
The house is in the middle of everything, very authentic feel like you moved to 19 century, Garden is amazing, we had some issues with mosqutos but they disappear after 8 pm every evening.
We had a great time in Arles. The private outdoor space was amazing after being the hustle and bustle of Paris. The house was spacious and was a great place to relax.
Sylvie's house is beautiful, and my family very much enjoyed our stay there. Jacqueline was very accommodating when we had to arrive later than originally planned, and she left the house very clean for us. The garden out back is so charming--the perfect place to share a glass of wine after the kids went to bed. Sylvie was forthcoming with suggestions for us, and she even arranged a crib for our little one. Arles is a beautiful old town; it felt less touristy than Avignon or Aix. The produce at the Wednesday and Saturday markets was amazing. We felt like we had never tasted strawberries before.
Arles, is definitively one of the best kept franch secrets in La Provence. We were absolutely seduced not only with the old town but also with the house, full of nice details, very chic decorated, an incredible garden.....wow....just a highly urecommended dream to go!
