**** This offering is for the full two-story - detacted house --private to yourself-- (1050 square feet on a 7500 sqft lot). The house includes two real bedrooms / 1 bath - 5+ rooms total, and is comprable to a decent hotel suite. ****
The property is in one of the most ideal locations to enjoy a stay in Mill Valley. Their are nearby stairs that lead to charming downtown Mill Valley (8-10 minute walk) and you are just a block away from the famed Dipsea trail (known for it's yearly race in early June, one of the oldest and most challenging footraces in America).
The house feels very much like a large tree-house. It is nestled beneath the peaceful Redwoods and graced with an open and airy floor plan. Sliding doors "invite the outdoors in" and open onto a deck surrounded by nature.
The two bedrooms can sleep 4 and accommodates an additional person with an available full size Aerobed. The house has a beautiful and restive view through the trees, cantilevered deck with a nice BBQ grill, and 20 Megabits per second WIFI. A beautiful skylight accentuate a charming kitchen. Ample parking is available with a two car port and parking deck. Located in Mill Valley's Cascade Canyon, one of the areas most popular biking and hiking locations.
This cozy getaway is a mere 15 minutes across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco and minutes walk to downtown Mill Valley, which was recently named the 4th best small town in America by Smithsonian magazine. Mill Valley has fantastic restaurants; including Tyler Florence and Sammy Hagar's (both Mill Valley residents) beautiful El Paseo, The famed Buckeye Roadhouse, Gavin Newsom's Balboa Cafe, and Bungalow 44.
The Sweetwater Music Hall has been recently re-opened by Grateful Dead's Bob Weir to much acclaim at the remodeled Masonic Hall. I can attest to the delicious food and fantastic entertainment (The original Sweetwater Music Hall saw the likes of Elvis Costello, Jerry Garcia, and Bonnie Raitt.) Mill Valley also has their own professional theater, The Marin Theater Company, as well as the 142 Throckmorton Theater.
There are fantastic hiking and biking opportunities everywhere! You can hike the Dipsea Trail to the magnificent Muir Woods or if ambitious, all the way to Stinson Beach. Bike from Sausalito and Tiburon through the small Marin towns to Fairfax.

I have lived in San Francisco for over 20 years and have a wealth of knowledge about the bay area and how to enjoy it - from Napa, Marin, San Francisco, Berkeley/Oakland to Silicon Valley and will be glad to offer many suggestions.
I would rate the stay good but not excellent.I location of the house is located among the redwood trees making a great setting. There were several problems we experienced. There is only 1 bathroom and the hot water in the sink was not working. Kevin arrived the next day to fix the problem and said he turned off the water because of a drip. My feeling is this should have been repaired before we came. We did not know how to operate the tv nor the computer because of the technology being used and no instructions. One bedroom had exercise equipment in the doorway. We removed it in order to close the door. On the good side, the house was fully equipped with everything we needed. It was clean and comfortable. Would I stay there again, yes. If you do stay, go to the Vasco restaurant in Mill Valley for a great meal.
Kevin's house is a beautiful, serene house truly in the tree-tops. We had to hike for an hour in Muir woods to get to treetops similar to those you get to live in at Kevin's. He even helped set us up with a wonderful babysitting for our toddler at the last minute. Our family had a wonderful time cooking, eating, hiking and exploring in Marin (when we weren't busy with the wedding festivities we had come for), and much of that was because of the wonderful space we could call home for the time we were there.
Every room of the house has gorgeous views of redwoods. This is a magical place to stay!
Kevin was a thoughtful host -- he provided everything we needed and gave us some tips on great restaurants.
I had a great stay at Kevin's Haven in the Redwoods. The house is very 'user friendly'. Well organized and equipped with everything I needed. Kevin is my kinda host! Very hands off unless I needed something. I was greeted with fresh cut flowers and a lovely bottle of wine from the family winery. The location is wonderful! As you walk down the steps from the off street parking you pass two massive and ancient redwoods that are just two of the many in that forest but the most spectacular. The living, dining room, open plan kitchen give a feeling of openness and spaciousness with the large floor to ceiling windows looking out over the trees. Downstairs the bedrooms, bath and laundry are very nice and again very easy to get acquainted with. The wireless internet was rock solid and fast. The TV with NetFlix and Hulu Plus was just fine for my limited TV watching. The proximity of all the wonders of the area... HIking... Mountain biking... and the city of San Francisco make this an absolutely ideal retreat for vacationers to the area. I am returning home to the bay area after living abroad for 8 years. I am very familiar with the area and was able to line up my next home and new car during the week I was there. I will be living in Napa this time and had to commute on two occasions to St Helena where my new home is. It took under one hour and twenty minutes to get there door to door.... so it's very convenient for wine tourists as well!
We stayed in Kevin's place during Xmas 2013, for a short visit to SF area.
The location is beautiful and quiet, with fresh air and woods around to enjoy. The house is well organized and clean. Kevin was great. He left us fresh lily on the dinning table and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from his family's winery. We also visit the Page family's wine factory and tasting cellar in Napa and Yountville. It was quite an experience. Kevin's parents were very nice and patient to walk us through the whole wine-making process.
We had a great time and would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a short visit to SF/napa/Silicon Valley. I certainly won't hesitate to stay here again next time I visit SF. Thank you Kevin!
Our stay at Kevin's place was really wonderful. It was my mom's birthday weekend and so the 4 of us (mom, dad, boyfriend and I) headed up to Mill Valley. We got in very late at night but had no trouble finding the place. The house warmed up very quickly and the fireplace gave out a surprising amount of heat. Sitting on the deck in the morning was incredibly peaceful and having french press coffee was an added bonus. The dinning table sat the 4 of us comfortably and Kevin left extra chairs in the laundry room for us to use.
I would recommend Kevin's place to anyone hoping to explore Mill Valley and not just because the house was beautiful and in a perfect location. Kevin really went out of his way to make sure we felt comfortable. The house was clean and well organized and the towels and linens are better than anything I have in my apartment. Even the soap was nice! There were also fresh flowers on the dining room table and in the bedroom, which really blew my mom away. A very welcoming touch. Kevin was very responsive to my emails and I felt confident that had any issues come up he would have remedied them quickly. I hope we get the chance to stay here again, we really had a wonderful time.
We lived in the house of Kevin almost 2 weeks. It is an amazing place. We enjoyed the scent of the forest, nature and silence. The house is very comfortable and light, warm and cozy inside. Has everything you need - equipped kitchen, high speed internet, laundry, parking. If you are traveling by car, I recommend staying at the Kevin's place. Communication with him was easy and pleasant. Thank you, Kevin!
This is a cool place. Kevin's house is relaxing, fully equipped, clean, and the neighborhood is fascinating.
We only had one question after arriving, and Kevin responded right away. Otherwise it was like it was our own place for the week.
One consideration though... Kevin's place is sparsely furnished. Although six people could possibly stay here, you don't have your own seat/bed/space anymore if there are more than three.
And, although part of the charm, this neighborhood is on a steep hillside with very narrow one lane roads. I was simultaneously surprised and relieved every time I got through it without a head-on collision in one of the 30 or so blind corners.
The house is beautiful, cosy and literally in the middle of the woods.
It is quiet and peaceful.
It is perfectly situated as it is only about 30/40 minutes from the City and about 1 hour form the vineyards.
The barbecue on the balcony allowed us to grill every night.
Eating on the balcony was like eating in the woods.
Mill Valley is a charming town.
Out stay was incredible. I am definitely planning to rent Kevin's place again if I decide to go back to San Francisco.
We had a wonderful time in this "Haven." The location is fabulous--hiking right out your door on the Dipsea Trail and Muir Woods just a few miles away. It is an easy drive to SF, Golden Gate Bridge, etc. Marin is an oasis of civilization. The Mill Valley Market has fabulous prepared foods if you don't want to cook or eat out for some of your meals. As well, there is a Safeway and a Whole Foods very close by (Trader Joes was further away). We loved Joe's Tacos! The house is adorable; surrounded by amazing trees and so very, very peaceful. We enjoyed the fireplace, sitting on the deck sipping tea, and finding a movie on Netflix (there is no cable but Kevin has found a few alternatives). Our family of three was very comfortable. Do note that the road up to their house is very narrow so you have to be comfortable driving in the area.
