We have just spent a wonderful six days at Liz and Tim's place. The location - in Kayakoy - is delightful, with views across the valley to the old abandoned village. The property itself is extremely comfortable - exactly as advertised, if not better. Breakfasts were both generous and delicious, And Liz and Tim are the perfect hosts - friendly, interesting and helpful, without being intrusive. Heartily recommended - five stars.
Liz and Tim's house is incredibly beautiful -- gorgeous flowers and luscious fruit trees all along the grounds and winding paths of their property. We loved sitting in our "kosh" and looking out over the Kaya Valley, relaxing and reading.
The bedroom and bathroom were clean and lovely. The porch on which we had our breakfast each morning, like everything else about this home, was perfect. We particularly appreciated that our breakfast was left for us the night before, in the refrigerator in our room, so that we could eat at our leisure. One morning we woke early, packed up the breakfast and headed out for a long hike, eating our morning meal on the trail looking out over the sea.
We love hiking and being outdoors and, with the help of guidebooks in the room, consultation with our hosts, and our own exploring, we enjoyed some great hiking and incredible views.
Liz and Tim were great hosts, very friendly and helpful. They went far beyond what would be expected to accommodate us. We can't thank them enough.
We do offer this one important caution: If you stay with Tim and Liz in the Kaya Valley, you may fall deeply in love with this little piece of paradise in Turkey and start dreaming of living there, too.
A wonderful surprise! We originally chose this place for its proximity to fethiye but after seeing the kaya valley we didn't want to leave. The little touches (the lemon curd, offering to iron my shirts) were appreciated. The room was very comfortable and we slept well, our only complaint was a lack of hot water for the shower. We would be back in a heartbeat and will certainly recommend you to anyone traveling to Turkey. Hope to meet again in Turkey, Wales or Canada!
We're calling it - best breakfasts we've had in Turkey!
Liz and Tim were fabulous hosts and they have done an amazing job setting up their property for visitors. They were kind enough to lend us some bikes to explore on and gave us great advice on local sights and tracks.
The room was spacious, beautifully decorated and the facilities were great.
We couldn't recommend Liz and Tim highly enough and are already trying to see when we can come back to visit!
We chose this place to take a break from the touristy hassles of Istanbul and cappadocia and so glad we stayed with Liz.
The place was a bit difficult to find at first but Liz and Tim were ready to be contacted to give us clearer instructions.
We stayed for two nights and enjoyed so much the peacefulness of Kayaköy, biking around and seeing many animals. And getting to fethiye and oludeniz is easy with minibuses. (liz gives very clear instructions for the shuttles which is very helpful)
Liz and Tim were wonderful hosts, giving us suggestions on what to do for our two days at fethiye, lent us bicycles to tour around the nearby villages, helped with our laundry and prepared lovely breakfast.
They surely put a lot of work into their garden and deco, you won't be disappointed if you looking for an enjoyable getaway!
The Kaya Valley is a lovely place with a bittersweet history. Liz and Tim's home, the room, and the view are spectacular. And Liz and Tim are excellent hosts, both attentive (when needed) and hands-off (when you need space). In other words, all the rave reviews are spot on. Highly recommended.
(Kayaköy, October 2014)
Heartbreakingly beautiful pine forests, herb-scented maquis, turquoise seas, rocky limestone coast, ...
Trash everywhere, dishonoring the land. [How many plastic water bottles can this planet swallow?] Why? Anger? Fear?
Light, local, fresh, natural, seasonal foods. Best tomatoes ever!
Short-sighted, desperate tourism. Camels and quads???
Vacant windows of the old Greek village passing silent judgment. Sadness beyond expression. ["They gouged out the eyes."]
And Babadağ watching above all the clutter.
About the Host, Liz
Hello!..my name is Liz. My husband (Tim) and I purchased the property in 2007 following many visits and holidays in Turkey. I live here permanently now and Tim is here as often as is possible (based on his continuing work inthe UK).The valley is an amazing place and we love to share it with our visitors.
We chose the Kaya Valley as it is full of charm and beauty. It remains unspoilt and still retains a village feel that everyone loves. It is impossible not to fall in love with the place and its people -it really is the perfect location for exploring and there is something for everyone here. Some great beaches, stunning scenery and a wealth of activities on your doorstep.
We have a cottage that we rent and we have now developed this part of the house to offer an alternative for guests. Many visitors only want a room and breakfast .... with the occassional BBQ. We can do whatever suits you best.
We know that all guests value their privacy - and this is very private. However I am on hand to offer advice if required and to make sure that you get the most from your stay. Flexibility is the key for us - we will do our best to provide exactly what you want.
We love to walk, bike, swim ... generally be outdoors. This is a great location and, as we know the area really well, we can help you to arrange whatever you want to do.
This area suits people of all ages and is a real alternative to the usual holiday destinations.
