Part of a stone house that is set in a large, mature garden on the hillside overlooking the Kaya Valley. The room has its own private entrance and benefits from a luxury en-suite shower room. A large, private first floor level dining terrace with spectacular views over the valley towards the 'ghost town' of Karmylassos. The room is air-conditioned, has a refrigerator and tea/coffee making facilities. There is an adjacent room with its own large shower room that can accommodate additional guests. It has twin beds.
Access to a large swimming pool that is located adjacent to the property.
Breakfast is included and arranged to suit the needs of the guests.
The valley has a number of restaurants that are within walking distance of the property. The town of Fethiye is approx 15km and the resort of Olu Deniz also about 15km (both accessible by Dolmus). The local beach at Gemiler is approximately 7km. Keciler is a peaceful, rural village but with lots to do in the area.
If you are looking for something a bit different then this might be for you.
'The Valley' is a protected area due to its history and key sites of interest.
A rural setting but within easy access to the popular tourist resorts of Olu Deniz (with the famous 'Blue Lagoon') and Fethiye.
Located in the small village of Keciler, you will be able to explore the valley and all that it has to offer.
We have bikes that you are welcome to use ... but walking gets you to local shops and a wide variety of restaurants.
There is an excellent dolmus (bus) service that gives access to the beach as well as out to Fethiye or Olu Deniz. From Fethiye you can also use the buses to get to other areas such as Gocek, Sakklikent Gorge etc.
The area has lots to offer. Great walking, boat trips, quad biking, horse riding, paragliding etc. etc. As much ... or as little..... as you want to do.
Free internet access.
We will do guest washing by request.
You will be amazed by the friendliness of everyone.
Guest access to room/s and associated shower rooms. Private dining terrace.
Interaction with Guests
We are on hand to help and give advice.
However the guest room has its own access and guests can be as private as they wish.
Very friendly and welcoming valley.
Quite rural setting but within easy reach of restaurants, local facilities and the larger resorts nearby.
Fabulous base for walking and exploring.
Good local bus service.
Taxis available from the valley of local towns.
Car hire gives greater flexibility and convenience but not required if guests are prepared to walk a little and use local services.
There are a lot of steps in the garden and providing access to the room. Care is required on these.
The terrace has a drop to ground level and climbing/ sitting on the terrace wall is prohibited.
The garden has many large plants and care needs to be taken, particularly with some of the large palms and cactus plants.
We chose this place to take a break from the touristy hassles of Istanbul and cappadocia and so glad we stayed with Liz.
The place was a bit difficult to find at first but Liz and Tim were ready to be contacted to give us clearer instructions.
We stayed for two nights and enjoyed so much the peacefulness of Kayaköy, biking around and seeing many animals. And getting to fethiye and oludeniz is easy with minibuses. (liz gives very clear instructions for the shuttles which is very helpful)
Liz and Tim were wonderful hosts, giving us suggestions on what to do for our two days at fethiye, lent us bicycles to tour around the nearby villages, helped with our laundry and prepared lovely breakfast.
They surely put a lot of work into their garden and deco, you won't be disappointed if you looking for an enjoyable getaway!
The Kaya Valley is a lovely place with a bittersweet history. Liz and Tim's home, the room, and the view are spectacular. And Liz and Tim are excellent hosts, both attentive (when needed) and hands-off (when you need space). In other words, all the rave reviews are spot on. Highly recommended.
(Kayaköy, October 2014)
Heartbreakingly beautiful pine forests, herb-scented maquis, turquoise seas, rocky limestone coast, ...
Trash everywhere, dishonoring the land. [How many plastic water bottles can this planet swallow?] Why? Anger? Fear?
Light, local, fresh, natural, seasonal foods. Best tomatoes ever!
Short-sighted, desperate tourism. Camels and quads???
Vacant windows of the old Greek village passing silent judgment. Sadness beyond expression. ["They gouged out the eyes."]
And Babadağ watching above all the clutter.
Absolutely perfect! We stopped at Tim and Liz's as or first stop through southwest turkey after 4 days in Istanbul. I honestly could not imagine a more perfect place to relax and unwind after the hustle & bustle of the big city. If you are any where in the area you must stay with Tim and Liz. Thank you thank you thank you.
Liz and Tim are wonderful people, i love the house so much. They can also provide some advise for my trip(the only regret is seven capes). Here every day make me very happy, with the crow woke up, eating Liz prepared breakfast, the beginning of a perfect day.I can take minibus to everywhere i want,it is really a full of love house.
My wife and I's stay at Liz and Tim's place was flawed only in its brevity--we could have stayed an extra week, month or year and never been more content. A quick word on the accommodations: A thoughtfully furnished bedroom with a view of the distant mountains and abandoned town of Kayakoy in the distance, a modern bathroom (with rainfall showerhead!), a refrigerator stocked with a delicious and healthy Turkish breakfast, and a generously proportioned patio from which to view sunrise, sunset and everything in between. And the local activities: In two short days, we managed to fit in a bike ride to a nearby beach, a home-cooked meal by a local restaurateur, a hike to Oludeniz, another hike to watch the sunset from Afkule Monastery, and one more delicious meal at a local restaurant. And last but not least, our hosts Tim and Liz: Friendly, attentive, down-to-earth, knowledgeable and extraordinarily generous of their time and property. To say the least, we were thrilled with our stay, which was the perfect capstone to a two-weeks long honeymoon in Turkey. Highly recommended!
We had a great experience. Liz and Tim are warm people, the view is amazing, the room is clean and every morning we got a nice breakfast. Also nice restaurants are nearby. A car is recommended when you would like to explore the surroundings.
Hello!..my name is Liz. My husband (Tim) and I purchased the property in 2007 following many visits and holidays in Turkey. I live here permanently now and Tim is here as often as is possible (based on his continuing work inthe UK).The valley is an amazing place and we love to share it with our visitors.
We chose the Kaya Valley as it is full of charm and beauty. It remains unspoilt and still retains a village feel that everyone loves. It is impossible not to fall in love with the place and its people -it really is the perfect location for exploring and there is something for everyone here. Some great beaches, stunning scenery and a wealth of activities on your doorstep.
We have a cottage that we rent and we have now developed this part of the house to offer an alternative for guests. Many visitors only want a room and breakfast .... with the occassional BBQ. We can do whatever suits you best.
We know that all guests value their privacy - and this is very private. However I am on hand to offer advice if required and to make sure that you get the most from your stay. Flexibility is the key for us - we will do our best to provide exactly what you want.
We love to walk, bike, swim ... generally be outdoors. This is a great location and, as we know the area really well, we can help you to arrange whatever you want to do.
This area suits people of all ages and is a real alternative to the usual holiday destinations.
