Hosts are friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. We have lived in this house for 24 years & my husband has lived in Los Angeles his whole life.
Plenty of easy, free, on-street parking is available.
Guests have access to the private guest house with its own entrance, the entire backyard, a swing set, 2 patios and on-street parking.
Interaction with Guests
Our interaction with guests varies a lot, depending on our schedules at the time they are staying with us, as well as on the guests' interest in interacting. There are times when guests come and go without even meeting us, and other times that we become very friendly and even eat some meals with them. Mostly, we've found that guests prefer to be fairly private, and we respect their wishes.
Our house is in the heart of Santa Monica's safest and most desirable neighborhood. The beach is about a mile away. Chic Montana Avenue, with many shops, restaurants & a Whole Foods Market, is a few blocks away. Sweet Lady Jane, an amazing bakery & cafe where you can eat breakfast or go for a late night snack, is within strolling distance. Brentwood Country Mart, in the opposite direction, is a 15-minute walk or 3-minute drive. If you like ice cream, check out the wonderful Sweet Rose Creamery there, along with a number of other good restaurants and stores.
The house is a 5-minute drive to all Santa Monica attractions: World-famous Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica Place Mall, Santa Monica Pier, Main Street & Abbot Kinney Blvd.
LAX is 20 minutes away, Venice Beach 15 minutes, Brentwood 5 minutes, Beverly Hills 20 minutes, Hollywood 25 minutes, Westwood & UCLA 15 minutes, Disneyland & other Anaheim theme parks 1 hour.
Upscale, quiet residential neighborhood.
Most people who come to Los Angeles prefer to rent a car, but our house is within a short walking distance to 3 different bus stops, and the LA bus system will take you anywhere in the area.
Other Things to Note
There is plenty of on-street parking around our house. You can park in front of our house or across the street. Please don't park directly in front of our next-door neighbors' houses.

Great guest house in Santa Monica! The space is just as advertised; comfortable, quiet, a great place for relaxing. Susan was very accomodating.
I stayed here during a week of meetings in Santa Monica and West LA, and the location proved ideal, greatly reducing the stress of travel and enabling me to focus on the work at hand. The casita is located in a terrifically scenic neighborhood of great old Spanish homes, and offers both privacy and a quiet sleep. The single, open room is quite expansive, with plenty of room for both sleeping and business, and the bathroom is ample if not especially spacious. The only drawback is the lack of a proper kitchenette; cooking facilities are limited to a microwave, toaster over and hot plate, with limited counter space. Fortunately, a host of great dining options are within an easy walk.
Susan's place was perfect. Very quiet and safe neighborhood. Bed is very comfortable and we feel like home.
Susan was very welcoming. Her guest house comfortable, well-located and very quiet--the perfect home-base for our LA sightseeing. We would stay there again. Thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed staying in our guest house. I apologize for the smoke smell. Our guest house is a smoke-free environment, but a previous guest was smoking outside in the yard. I guess some of the smell lingered on his clothes or wafted in through the door. We'll be sure to air it out thoroughly.
Thanks for letting us know.
Susan was very friendly and nice. She really made sure that we had everything we needed and even encouraged us to use her patios and garden furniture.
The description of the place when looking at airbnb online is definitely correct. We thought everything was as expected – It’s always nice not to have unwanted surprises!
I love the area – but I also grew up here – so it was especially nice for me to visit since I live in Germany now.
Beautiful guest house and neighborhood! Thank you for our stay - Jennifer Lee
