Guests who rent the Villa Soquel will have the entire 4 bedroom single story ranch style home for their exclusive use. Plenty of parking for 10 - 12 cars.
Note: for stays exceeding three nights, there will be an outdoor maintenance visit by a staff member every third day.
Interaction with Guests
When the Villa Soquel is rented in it's entirety, I welcome and orient our guests and will only interact when invited. The Villa is theirs to enjoy as they please in private.
Ours is a beautiful, lush, green and serene valley located between Capitola Beach and the Los Gatos Mountain communities. We have wineries, horse boarding ranches, a quaint general store, attractions near by like The Mystery Spot! Gotta see that one if you haven't already.
Only a short, easy drive to the beaches, and the many antique stores in lovely Soquel Village. Convenient food shopping (Nob Hill, Safeway, New Leaf, Whole Foods etc.)
So many restaurants within 20 minutes! Pretty much everything but Korean.
No public transit to the Villa Soquel at this time.
Parking for 10 vehicles easy off street at the house.
Other Things to Note
The kitchen is ready for you. Have had dozens of guests prepare their meals here and there have been no requests for any kitchen ware in addition to what is provided!
This house is lived in when not rented. It feels like a home, not like a rental!
The driving speed up and down the driveway from Soquel San Jose Road is 8 MPH. My neighbors have pets and I have wild quail on my property. We do not want to put up fences.
If my neighbors report any guest vehicles traveling at more than a S L O W speed on the driveway, the amount of $100 will be deducted from your security deposit.
No pets please. Please don't ask. It tears me up to have to say no. I own two dogs myself and the reality of the situation is that for several reasons I can't allow pets at the Villa. Sorry about that.
The Villa is a place for creative respite, socializing, re-uniting, re-charging, communing, romantic pursuits and of course, love.
Villa Soquel is not a wild party venue. Outdoor quiet time is ten pm.
You may have up to eight daytime guests with prior permission. Please ask before booking or as soon after as possible.
... Please no smoking IN the house. Smoking anything outside is okay. Please be sure to close all windows and doors nearby when you are smoking outside. No candles inside. No incense inside the house.
Wonderful property - private, clean and well maintained. House is fully equipped and has plenty of room for two families to spread out. Pool area with hot tub and fire pit is perfect for relaxing day or night. Host was very responsive throughout. Highly recommended.
We had a great stay here over Memorial Day weekend despite the chillier than average weather (3 young families). The house sits atop a very steep hill (I made the mistake of 'running back up' the hill to get something I forgot and was totally winded!), but the views of the forest are wonderfully soothing. It was easy to drive down to Capitola and over the Santa Cruz, so we could go berry picking and hiking along the coast very easily. Each day around noon, the sun broke out for a warm afternoon (though still too cold then to swim in the pool unfortunately). The house itself is comfortable, beds were firm. Really a relaxing and fun group space between one living room facing the woods, the outer deck w/ large umbrella and great seating, the family room with ping pong table, drums, keyboard and TV (equipped with Netflix and cable) and the hot tub. It was exactly what we were hoping for.
Daniel was a great host -- super responsive to all my questions in advance. He left music and lights on for us which was very welcoming for our evening arrival. I think the hosts maybe sleep in the RV just down the hill from the house, not totally sure.
We had a number of little kids in our party, a few things I'd note to parents: (1) they have many figurines in one of the rooms, so we took care to not have the little kids alone in there lest something break (we actually stored away a few pieces and put them back after to be safe), (2) if you're a little sensitive to smells, there was quite a bit of Febreeze/scent in the air which aired out over the weekend, (3) there is a list of tasks to do before you check out (e.g. stripping the beds, cleaning the kitchen) so factor time in for that, (4) the bedrooms run along the common spaces so noise definitely traveled a bit -- the master suite is the most quiet space b/c it has an extra door (we used a white noise machine), and (5) no diapers were allowed in the pool/hot tub so we ended up not letting the little ones in despite preparing swim diapers.
Villa Soquel was the ideal setting for our weekend retreat. Conveniently located a short drive from Santa Cruz or the Bay Area, this home features stunning views and comes stocked with everything you need. We especially enjoyed the hot tub (pre-heated) and outdoor fire pit (firewood included). Villa Soquel exceeded expectations on every front and our group would be thrilled to return sometime soon. Thanks Daniel and Kathy!
The house is tremendously beautiful and extremely well equipped for a weekend away with well laid instructions for everything.
Highly recommend Villa Soquel to anyone looking to wake up to beautiful views in a beautiful home. Photos don't do it justice!
The perfect place for our group, awesome accommodations and Daniel was very responsive. Even better than the pictures, comfortable in every sense of the word. I hope we'll be back.
The house was gorgeous, peaceful and a great place to getaway. It was conveniently located near Soquel, but far enough away to feel very secluded. Daniel was a great host, making sure everything was set up for us when we got there and providing a bunch of amenities while we stayed. There were spices, cooking supplies, sunscreen, plenty of towels and even aerobeds. The ping pong table was one of the highlights of the weekend. Overall we had a great experience.
We had a very nice time staying here with one set of grandparents, and a family of 5 including an 18, 14 and 8 year old. There was plenty of room for us to all spread out, cook and enjoy a nice meal together. The ping-pong table was a lifesaver to keep the kids (and adults) occupied, and the 3D Tv was super cool! We also enjoyed the outdoor areas and the firepit. The views are gorgeous and it was quiet and peaceful. The location is convenient to many attractions as well. The house is well stocked with towels, bedding, kitchen supplies, condiments, games, etc! Made for a very comfortable and convenient stay. Highly recommend!!

About the Host, Daniel & Kathy
Kathy and I never really aspired to get into the bed and breakfast or vacation rental business. BUT, HERE WE ARE! Unbelievable chain of events all leading up to the wonderful experience of creating and making available one of the most beautiful and welcoming properties in the county. Life is surprising sometimes!
I am a city boy from New York. I moved to California in 1976. I've lived in San Diego, Orange County and Santa Cruz.
Kathy is from Detroit. She arrived in California in 1985. She is a practicing MFT here in town.
We enjoy many of the activities that the area offers. One of our favorites is taking our dogs to the beach for a long walk on a nice day. We also enjoy shopping in Monterey, or Los Gatos, or Santana Row. We know all of the "good" places to eat for miles around.
I am active from good morning 'til good night! I sleep like a rock on the bottom of a quiet lake. Never been happier with my life!
Rest assured that you will feel very welcomed and comfortable should you decide to stay at our charming and relaxing Villa Soquel in the Santa Cruz Mountains!
If you are a host in the Santa Cruz area, please feel free to refer to our Villa when you are full.
