Melanie and Warren are outstanding hosts. They are warm, friendly, relaxed, generous, and happy to share information. We thoroughly enjoyed staying with them and getting to know them. Melanie patiently showed us around the property, introducing us to the animals and answering our countless questions about their homestead's evolution.
This was our second time staying with Melanie and Warren, and it was just as lovely as our first stay! Their homestead keeps them quite busy, but they make it all seem so effortless. Melanie makes a great breakfast with everything made fresh by them - eggs from their chickens, cheese from their goats, bread and granola made by Warren. And even though they were busy with the peak of the farming season and a full house of guests, they still made themselves available for good conversation.
They're home is cozy and the land is really beautiful and peaceful
Warren is also a skilled potter, and we were excited to leave with some new bowls made by him! We'll have to keep going back to complete our dish set! But that won't be difficult, because we really do enjoy staying with Melanie and Warren!
My boyfriend and I were so lucky to have found Warren and Melanie's home (and wish we could've stayed there longer!). We were delayed and got lost but Warren and Melanie were very patient with us. The room was clean and wonderful. The next morning we joined them in their organic farm where they showed us how to milk goats, how to grow shitake mushrooms on logs, and all the wonderful vegetables they have in their garden. Breakfast was scrumptious. I looooved the homemade granola and goat yogurt. My boyfriend loved the spelt bread. And they are so kind to send us away with goat cheese and basil. We were so sad to leave...
We had a really great stay and highly recommend it to anyone traveling in the area. The homestead is perfect for anyone who is looking for a quiet setting with kind and giving people. We can't wait to return!
Warren and Melanie's delightful abode has a cat, Kira, two dogs, Summer and Molly, a bunch of very cute goats, some chickens and ducks, aka. the Ladies. Their farm is easy to find, especially with their very detailed directions here on AirBnB and Google Maps. While we missed Melanie during our stay, Warren was a warm host who made sure we had everything we needed to feel at ease. The tour of the farm, including the milking of the goats and the fresh breakfast were super memorable!!
Warren also generously shared with us insights into what it is like to live on a farm. Seeing mushrooms and ginger growing in their natural state were eye-openers for me. The "nature channel", as displayed by their large bay window, is gorgeous and I can only imagine what it will be like during the fall with the autumn foliage. There is also a pond and if you are lucky, you can also spot a blue pelican! Thank you Warren and Melanie for a great stay!
The description of this place was accurate, however, what you don't see is the friendliness, hardworking and generosity of the host's. The Homestead is full of life and sacredness. I trully enjoyed this experience and Warren and Melanie are a great couple and make all they do seem effortless.(but we know better)
My wife and I traveled to the Burlington area for a family reunion, and found this place to be a wonderful place to stay in the woods near Monkton, quiet and serene. It's a small-farm homestead with goats, chickens, ducks, two very friendly dogs and a reserved cat who occasionally comes out of hiding to enjoy some petting. "This is much better than a motel!" Carole said. It took the edge off the stress of traveling. I didn't think it would be a bed-and-breakfast, but we were treated to breakfast with homemade bread and homemade cheese!
