Bill made us feel very welcome and the Peacock Cottage was just as we expected. I wish my kitchen was as organized and well-stocked.
We enjoyed watching the peacocks. Just know, that if you are a light sleeper, those peacocks wake up early!
William was a great host. He responded to questions very fast. His place is like a slice of heaven. You drive up to this tropical paradise and here is the little cottage. The view from the living room was outstanding. The place is a nice size for 2 people and it's nicely decorated and the kitchen has plenty of utensils for cooking. The only noises we heard at night were the peacocks and a train going by. If you are a light sleeper then this may bother you. Would definitely stay there again.
This is a lovely cottage with a great kitchen, living room and bedroom. It has a water view. The three peacocks were gorgeous. If you are fearful of little critters like geckos, water bugs or slugs then this is not the place for you. We saw just a few in our 5 day stay. This was very close to Vero Beach.
This was a delightful, comfortable and beautiful place to stay in April. The designer living room, fully stocked kitchen, and extensive outdoor patio options (including a hammock), made our week-long stay perfect in every way. We slept well in the extremely comfortable king sized bed, awakening to the sound of the peacocks... three beautiful fully-plumed males. This cottage is perfect for a couple, but would be too small for a third. One of the best things about Peacock Cottage is the location... Old Florida at it's best. The well-kept trees and plants make one feel as if you are traveling back in time... I found it to feel much like Hawaii. I look forward to returning with my family (renting from Bill again and taking on one of the other houses on the property). Even with the other two houses, this is a very private location that totally works whether renting one or more houses. The house and grounds are perfectly clean and inviting, with Bill providing all the insider advice and extras that make the trip even more wonderful - Bill loaned us binoculars, enhancing our trip to Pelican Island, a National Wildlife Refuge.
Sebastian Inlet is a haven for nature lovers, bird watchers and those who enjoy the beaches and water sports. We went to the Treasure Museum, and the Manatee rescue center. My favorite activities were walking along Indian River Drive - a wonderful jogging/walking path along the inlet for miles, and drinking 100% grapefruit smoothies at Hales (2 miles to the South). The seafood in the area is great too, as is the fishing.
Overall, I would return here again and again.
This city boy had a moment of trepidation arriving at Peacock cottage. It's set in an amazingly beautiful and lush spot, which, although just yards from the road, is every bit as quiet, peaceful and lovely as described. Bill was so kind. Our mere mention of bike rental interest prompted him to provide (voila!) 2 bikes. OK, mine was sized for an NBA Center but what a great thought! In fact, the cottage is beautifully and thoughtfully furnished. Very good kitchen supplies - we cooked many of our meals... The walk in shower is heavenly. Comfy living room, great for us to watch the '49ers win on MNF.Bill was so great to resolve early Wi-Fi issues which then worked fine for most of our stay.
As promised the adolescent peacocks came calling, honking flying and were a treat to the soul.
The bed is as small a queen as I've seen and has its own vocabulary of loudish squeeks and groans when settling in. I was nervous about that too at first but again- the overall experience of this beautiful space, the breezes off The Indian River completely made up for and soothed my city boy whining,,,and I slept just fine and plenty, thank you..
Lisa and I found a favorite place for happy hour, dinner, boozing and schmoozing: It's Squid Lips, north of the cottage, then East on Davis Street. Friendly folks and peel-and-eat Shrimps covered in Bay spice with cocktail sause to die for! Dolphins at play nearby, Egrets, Pelicans....
Lots of other little local finds too- even the mildly touristy Captain Hirams was a good choice to watch the Jets' sad defeat on Sunday afternoon. Pleasant crowd. Stick with Squid Lips for the food.
Treat night dinner for Lisa's birthday: Ocean Grill in Vero. I may be a grouper groupie! Dressed up a little and enjoyed the choice of drinks....
So, Bill- Mission accomplished for a really wonderful stay which met my Lisa's every Birthday expectation and actually exceeded mine. All the best to you and yours for safe fun Holidays and a sweet year.
We spent 5 days at Bill's Peacock Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The surroundings were lovely - landscaping, strolling peacocks, near the water.
Bill was a good host. he was friendly, available, responsive, but not at all intrusive.
We were new to the area and he was very helpful in providing recommendations for places to go, including several very good restaurants.
We'd definitely go back!
We have just returned from 5 weeks staying at Peacock Cottage. We found everything about this cozy little cottage comfortable and easy to maintain including the shabby chic furniture. Although small, the high ceilings, modern bathroom and up to date kitchen make it seem much bigger. You can relax on the couch and watch TV or look through the sliding glass doors and enjoy a glimpse of the Indian River Lagoon.Or, step out through the glass doors to the patio table and enjoy your drinks, a meal and the same view. And yes, the peacocks will visit!
All the appliances are in working order - just be sure and press the start button for the dishwasher a second time!
Landlord Bill is a thoughtful host and will promptly attend to any of your requests. He values his Old Florida property and it certainly shows in the well maintained lawn and huge trees.
