Small charming stone house with a large lawn, all for you!
Fantastic panorama, silence, relax, fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable bed... good choice to drive 15 minutes by car to stay such a beautiful place!
The property is located 13kms from the centre of Florence, on the hills surrounding the city. The house is a small, stone cottage covered in grape vines, facing south down a valley covered in fig, olive, cypress and nut trees.
With 55 sq mts of inside space, the house has many windows, making it light and cosy. There are 4 different living areas: a bedroom, sitting room, dining room and kitchen, there is also a separate bathroom with full bath and shower. The bedroom has a double bed and extra sleeping is possible with the double sofa bed in the sitting room. The dining room features a working fireplace.
Outside there is a stunning covered patio with seating for outside dining – a must in the warmer months.
The house can accommodate two people with the possibility of two children. There is on-site parking. As the property is 4 kms from the closest bus and shops I recommend visitors have a car.
Included in the rental are:
Bed linen & towels
Crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils
Fridge and freezer
Iron & Ironing board
Heating and Hot water
WIFI & Sat TV
Highly recommended to people seeking a quiet country atmosphere, close to the centre of Florence. The spectacular views from this position provide a continually changing landscape. This is a truly versatile property in an idyllic location.
Thank you for smoking outside.
Tommaso's guest house in the Florentine hills was an absolutely perfect place to stay. We stayed for one week over New Years, and had the times of our lives. The place is incredibly beautiful, quiet and Tommaso has it set up to be extremely comfortable. He left us some beer, water, and a few things to tide us over. You will need a car, as it's up a little street, but the drive is certainly worth it. I would recommend his place to anyone looking for an authentic Tuscan escape. I hope to stay there again.
I spent 5 weeks at this beautiful location which is only a 10-15 minutes drive from the center of Firenze. I had a wonderful time and Tommaso is a perfect host. He respected my privacy and was always very friendly and helpful if I needed something. Not that you will need much, because basically everything you need is in this cozy little stonehouse :) Im a painter and the view from this place is magical, not to mention how quiet it is here. I should not write this because I'm afraid the place will be overbooked :) This is the place to go if you want to experience the best of what Firenze has to offer. This truly is a treasure here on (website hidden). His mother is also a fantastic person not to mention Toby (the little puddle), i just loved him..!! :D Words to describe this place is not enough! :) I can recommend it highly!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Tommaso's cottage. It's comfortable, cozy, and amazingly quiet. The setting is truly beautiful -- lovely vistas of the surrounding hills, valleys, and olive groves. Tommaso's "green thumb" produces a wonderful variety of trees and plants around the house. We sat every night on the terrace admiring the garden and the sunsets. Tommaso and his mother are very friendly and warm hosts. We regarded them as friends.
Here's a couple suggestions for you to consider when you stay at this special place:
If you like good AND inexpensive wine, ask Tommaso for directions to "Amerini Vino" -- a little shop a few kilometers from Europa Parking in Bagno a Ripoli. We took our empty wine bottles to Amerini Vino who refilled them with a nice red for 1.6 Euros/per bottle. The locals go here for their table wine as well as the higher end labels also sold in this interesting little shop.
If you like to walk, consult the tail map and guide for hiking around Bagno a Ripoli that's in the map case on the dining area wall. Look for the booklet "Borghi e Colline" ("Villages and Hills"). The section titled "From Monte Pilli to Bagno a Ripoli" overlaps with Via di Terzano close to Tommaso's cottage. Look for interesting info about the cat sculpture and spring at the foot of the driveway (Campini water spring -- la fonte del Campini).
We hope to revisit Tomasso's cottage someday.
