In general terms the apartment reached our expectations. Its location is excellent, very safe and the surface was enough for the four family members.
The apartment was available as agreed and we had no difficulty in the checkin and checkout.
Some details should be improved in order to be considered for our next trip to New York:
- The common areas of the building were very dirty. In two weeks only once somebody cleaned the stairs.
- The cooking elements are insufficient and old. We had to buy our own (not included in our budget).
- The bed of the living room, Is very uncomfortable.
- Only one key for all four was inconvenient for the return of the rides we did separately.
This place is OK. The photos are a little deceiving in that much of the furniture shown is no longer in the apartment. Many of the light bulbs in the ceiling are burned out so that combined with very few windows and absolutely zero natural light makes it quite dark. It was OK in the evening and night but very depressing in the morning. The hallway is questionable as is the fact that all the shop owners on the street knew exactly where we were going and asked us multiple times if we were headed to 3R or 3F. The women who checked us in and clean the place were wonderful - very nice and welcoming. There is no info provided except for a wifi code and only one set of keys. There is not a complete set of sheets for any of the 3 beds and only 2 blankets. The pull out sofa is really not fit for sleeping so we ended up using it just as a couch.
Check in in terms of getting the keys was very easy and convenient. There are many stairs to get to the unit but it is pretty quiet. The neighborhood is busy and the unit is convenient to everything.
The coffee pot does not work and there are really not enough items to cook a meal.
Max did phone after 10pm on evening to ask me to reset the router for another visitor. He asked how our stay was and I responded fine but I think his check in was more to fix someone else's problem and not really to check on us.
The space did provide more space than a hotel would have and with the coupon Airbnb provided, it was a good deal. But even so, I would not stay here again. I trust there has to be something better with just a few dollars more.
Great place. Easy to get keys, place was clean, good location - it was exactly what we wanted for our NYC weekend.
Inga's apartment is in a great location! So close to the train and since its in Chelsea-it was easy to travel uptown or downtown! The apartment was clean and uncluttered with wifi and tv. We didn't spend much time there as we were exploring the city...but when we did it was a relaxing place to go back to.
Inga was very easy to communicate with and responsive to all my questions and travel needs. The apartment is very tastefully renovated and quite lovely to stay in. Everything new, handsome, and in perfect working order. I love the Chelsea neighborhood -- this location is very convenient to trains and all parts of the city.
Best to know that it's a walk up, with two long, steep flights of stairs. The building itself is nowhere near as nice as the apartment, but it felt totally safe and was remarkably quiet for a NY apartment.
The loft was a great space for me and two friends for the weekend. Some of the furniture pictured is no longer in the place, but we made it work with a queen size air mattress that was in the closet. The location is great, and there were plenty of parking options within a few blocks. I would definitely stay here again.
Max and Inga were great to deal with.
Our stay was organised very last minute and everything ran extremely smoothly.
Great location and very nice apartment.
All the important things were perfect about this place. We loved the neighborhood, and someone met us with the keys just when we needed it and were very accommodating. And the apartment clean and comfortable...plenty of places to sit. A couple of small complaints. The sheets weren't comfortable and sprang off the mattress at will. Also the living room was too hot for sleeping on that pull out couch. I would stay there again in a heart beat. Perhaps I will.
Firstly the positives: The location of the apartment was brilliant. Very close to the subway and only a short walk to great shopping, supermarket, pharmacy and wine shop. The living area and bedroom were spacious, well set out and comfortable.
We are yet to meet Inga or Max. Max is obviously a busy guy as contact via emails and calls were very brief. We were let in by the cleaning lady after waiting on the street with all our luggage for almost an hour after the agreed meeting time. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to be waiting around at night time, or by myself. The cleaning lady was very kind and assisted us with our luggage up the stairs. We were then asked to sign a rental agreement for 1 month! Scary.
The apartment was adequate however the
sofa "bed" is not made for sleeping on and definitely not for 2 adults. Our adult daughters ended up sleeping on and air bed and the other on the couch (in seating position).
There were no tea towels and no sink plugs which proved to be a challenge washing dishes etc. No lid for the hot water jug either! I do recomend that the rubbish is collected for stays longer than 4 days!
Just little gripes but these could easily be rectified.
The best part about this place is the location. It's perfect. Price is great fro what you get. Everything you need is provided. The cleaning lady that met us was very nice. A couple of downsides...communication was a little lacking, which made me a little uneasy but in the end everything turned out fine. It was hard to get answers beforehand via email, which made things a little unclear, but it worked out in the end. It was fine for me, but it does get a little loud in the apartment, so if you are looking for a quiet spot, this might not be the best, but if you are a heavy sleeper, you will be fine.
