About this listing
Luminoso Salotto con divano-letto, TV LED, antica cassapanca / Bright Living room with sofa, LED TV, ancient chest
“Our houses are really “lived through houses” . They were the dwellings for generations of residents, artisans and traders who used to go to the city of Venise to work and back home to the Giudecca.
These houses were renewed and are now endowed with all modern comforts but there you can still breath the original soul of the Serenissima.
Some of our guests are used to return here all the years for a week, 15 days sometimes or even for just a long week-end. They find here a piece of their memory, a place they know and that is rich of emotions…..a place where there are still the points of reference, also for the daily shopping: the fish market, the wine shop, the bakery, the bars , the restaurants…. These houses allow you to live in a context where people still aren’t accustomed to mass tourism and still consider the guest as a neighbor, as someone they know- almost a friend...

Giudecca: an island in the island
Experience the daily life of the most beautiful city in the world, tasting the lagoon landscapes and the incomparable view of the basin of San Marco: a strategic position to reach the most famous attractions of the lagoon city in a few minutes.
The island of Giudecca is located about 400 meters south of Venice and is separated from the city through the homonymous Channel.
The Isle of Giudecca has always been inhabitated by residents: a walk along the canal, meander in the streets and breathe the true Venetian atmosphere far away from the overcrowded places; these activities will introduce you to the real face of Venice.
In Giudecca's Isle do not miss the small shops, local restaurants, the typical wine bars, that are the most authentic in town! Venice is in front, close at hand, ready to be viewed, studied, photographed at all hours of the day and especially early morning, when tourists have not yet arrived daily, or in the evening, when the island returns the exclusive property of its citizens.
With the boat you can arrive at every place you want: it takes 1 minute to reach the raft "Zattere", 10 minutes to St Mark's Square, Murano, Burano, Torcello, Lido .... and why, if the vacancy permits, do not visit Malamocco, San Pietro in Volta, Armenians, St. Francis of the Desert ... It takes a moment to come across the Giudecca Canal and enter the flow of tourists, as well as a second to come back to the island of Giudecca and savor the calm, and the simple pleasures of everyday life.

We had a wonderful time at Calle Larga. Ms. Ilse, the neighbor, was very helpful and actually waited for us until midnight to give us our key,as we missed a train and arrived later then expected. The apartment is away from the crowded grand canal area on the island of Giudecca but it is still ver easy to get back and forth. We got rolling venice cards for about 22 euros, which gave us 72 hours of public transportation and discounts at a few of the sights. All in all we were very happy with our stay. Oh and there is a wine shop below the apartment!
Although we had trouble getting into the apartment (flight was delayed and Tito didn't answer his phone at all) we eventually connected with the key and had a wonderful stay. The beds are comfortable, the apartment is clean, contemporary, and well appointed. You'll need to be okay with taking water taxis to and from Venice proper, but for us this was probably the best part. We liked being within reach of the action without staying in the tourist areas. And the apt is located right on top of a locals wine store--- a joint where you can take a nalgene and have them fill it with amazing prosecco for a euro!
