The Space

This artistic space features hand drawn fantasy murals and a colorfully tiled shower and bath. A generous downstairs living/sleeping room is topped off by a gold spiral staircase which leads up to a small extra loft bedroom. Just outside is a hammock for taking in the mountain view and soaking up the sun.

This is a self- contained apartment which is attached by a hallway to our main house. It has it's own kitchenette and private bathroom.

We are dog friendly. Please include your dog in the number of guests:)

This property is situated on 12 acres of land with an artistic and bohemian feel, minutes from the center of Topanga, CA. You'd never know you were anywhere near a city. However the Rustic Stone Cabin is in a separate and very private area of the property.

The location is idyllic, in the mountains with access to nearby hiking trails and creeks.

The world famous Inn of the Seventh Ray is just down the street, with fine dining next to a flowing stream. They have a wonderful Sunday brunch.

We are only a minute to the village of Topanga, and 10 minutes to the Pacific Ocean with lots of Beaches and Restaurants. Amazingly it's less than a twenty minute drive to Santa Monica (PCH fwy), Malibu or Calabasas (101 fwy).

Cell phones may not work here, but there is total coverage of wireless internet.

  • Fun, rustic, quirky. Pretty views. A cute little spot in the woods. Good internet. Not good cell reception. A brief but bumpy dirt road up the hill. Fun for a weekend, but maybe not for a long stay unless you're really outdoorsy.

  • I loved this place, and my kids did, too. It was a series of guest cabins, which I didn't realize, but that was okay. We went for a lovely walk and checked out some of the other cabins. I would definitely stay there again. The scenery was marvelous, and the beds very comfortable.

  • Very special place in the mountains. Beautiful landscape. Quite environment. Close to restaurants and the Pacific. The suite is furnished in very nice and creative way. We enjoyed staying there and would have loved to stay longer. Communication with David was very easy, check-in and check-out were very easy, too. I absolutely recommend this location if you look for something special that you will never forget.

  • We loved our stay in the Mermaid Suite! It’s a beautiful, eclectic space set up in such a peaceful and picturesque area of the mountains in Topanga. David and the community there were wonderful hosts and really made us feel at home. This is a perfect spot for resting, meditation, and rejuvenation, but with active elements as well such as hiking and a trampoline! Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys nature and a unique bohemian experience.

  • Staying here was so great, it didn't feel like LA at all, which was exactly what I was looking for. The staff is super friendly and chill. I will be going back! The mermaid suite is such a unique space.

  • Creative recycled building maybe quirky but it needs to finished off to be safe and attractive in reality, especially at this price! An out-of the-way setting should have clear signage about the location and use of the various buildings such as the communal kitchen and the "Mermaid Suite".The lack of basic provisions like drinking water, glasses, soap, tea, sugar etc which are universally standard at this price, need addressing! Thankfully the beds were clean in this 'rustic' hacienda where the uneven floors, broken tiles, uncovered wiring in the 'bathroom' and make-shift fixtures such as twisted wire on stairs are potentially injurious even for the mobile! I would not have been able to locate the switches and turn on the lights with the help of my US resident friend! I do wonder and saw no indications as to what visitors should do if there were an earthquake or fire -which are possible in this location??

  • Topanga has a lovely Bohemian feel. Plenty of opportunity to rest and relax away from the rat race of LA.
