The space

This artistic space features hand drawn fantasy murals and a colorfully tiled shower and bath. A generous downstairs living/sleeping room is topped off by a gold spiral staircase which leads up to a small extra loft bedroom. Just outside are a couple of chairs for taking in the mountain view and soaking up the sun.

We have a brand new wireless router with extremely fast wireless Internet access at 85mb per sec. We also have a new, very reliable tankless hot water heater that never runs out of hot water for the bath/shower.

You will be nestled in a 13 acre mountain village with other cottages, forests and mountain views. Nearby, there are laundry facilities and a communal kitchen / living space with a 100 year old fire place. You’d never know you were anywhere near a city!

Visiting this property is a very unique experience, some describe it as “glamorous camping”. No photo shoots, parties or cats allowed without prior arrangement. Please read the FULL description, disclaimer and reviews, to make sure this is what you are looking for.

DISCLAIMER: This is quite different from staying in an ordinary hotel. We are really in NATURE here - these are older cottages hand-built by artists in the forest. They are very rustic! It's like living in a mountain village, with other cottages nearby. While we work very hard to keep our places pristine and spotless - if anyone in your party will faint if they see a bug or lizard or little frog inside - then this probably isn't the place for you. Please be very careful booking cottages for someone else - like your parents just arriving from another continent - they might prefer something more conventional.

Some folks describe our places as a luxurious form of camping. We make our cottages very comfortable - they have all the basics - electricity - wifi - most have kitchens, bath or shower and comfy clean beds. But they are not like a hotel with perfect walls and a sterile atmosphere. Please look at all the pictures and read all the reviews. We can't offer refunds just because we don't meet the standards of a normal hotel. Most people are charmed by this idyllic and bohemian lifestyle - but it's not for everyone.

FILM AND PHOTOS SHOOTS: This is an amazing property for photography, and film, with 13 acres of rustic cottages, oak forests and sculpted streams. But please note we have special and quite reasonable rates for filming, in addition to the normal rental charges. Please let us know ahead of time so we can work out the details. Commercial filming is not permitted without permission.

Guest access

You do NOT need to meet us upon arrival. Simply follow the detailed directions to the cottage or room and make yourself at home, anytime after 2pm. Staff is available on site if you need anything. Be sure to find your itinerary that is emailed to you when you made the reservation for detailed instructions and directions. Feel free to use the community kitchen and laundry facilities located in the main stone house.

Interaction with guests

There is staff on site to assist you, but you can have total privacy if you prefer. Please message us via the airbnb messaging thread if you need anything!

Getting around

It's best to have a car during your stay. There isn't any public transportation on the mountain. The Village is a mile away which has a general store. If you walk, stay well off the road, there is no shoulder.

Other things to note

Cell phones may not work here, but we have very strong WIFI - with no password needed.

House Rules
No smoking
No parties or events
Check-in is after 2PM

A. We don't allow parties without prior arrangements, so we don't disturb the other guests. It's extremely quiet here at night. If you're having more than the one or two other friends over please let us know in advance.

B. NO FILM or PHOTOSHOOTS without prior arrangement.

C. NO CATS permitted for safety reasons.

D. Dogs are permitted for an ADDITIONAL FEE of $15 per night per pet..

E. Vehicle - All guests must have a vehicle. If you are planning to get dropped off here please contact us first so we can determine if it is appropriate.

F. Infants and very young children - please read the descriptions carefully to determine if your rental is safe and appropriate for your child.

G. Agility - Most of our places require one to be agile enough to climb a driveway, up a ladder, crawl through a small door, or something requiring nimbleness. If you are older, infirm or don't consider yourself agile, you might want to consider another rental. Please read our descriptions carefully.

H. Unusual - Most of our rentals are unconventional and rustic. Please come here expecting something different! For most people this is what is so charming about this magical little village. Some people consider our places akin to a luxurious form of camping! Make sure you aren't expecting anything that's not in the description. The vast majority of airbnb guests are completely charmed by this place. But as one of our reviewers wrote: "This is Old Topanga Canyon Verite (French for "the real thing"). Don't expect Holiday Inn"
