Your room is situated in a eclectic cozy NY-style loft in the middle of Little Tokyo in Downtown LA. You are smack dab in a completely walkable neighborhood filled with cute Japanese eateries and close to every kind of public transportation available. Ideal for people coming to town for a show at Staples Center, a conference at the LA Convention Center or the Westin Bonaventure, cultural events at Disney Hall / MOCA, work or business at Sci-Arc, City Hall, or FIDM.
The room comes equipped with a full sized bed, a desk, and Wi-Fi. Bathroom facilities are shared.
*Important - Overnight Parking is available in an adjacent lots for between $13 / day.
**With your reservation request, please share what brings you into town and what you anticipate your schedule will be like. Also, please share any breakfast preferences / food or dairy allergies that you might have. I love to cook breakfast, and will be happy to fry up eggs for you if our schedules coincide. There will be some self-serve options in the fridge & pantry, but it might be worth it to explore some of the local spots for breakfast. The best coffee place in LA (Demitasse) is just 50 feet away (on 2nd and San Pedro) if you want to get out in the morning, and two terrific breakfast places are within walking distance (Urth Cafe, Nickel Diner). :)
From LAX, you can take the Flyaway (a comfortable tour bus) from LAX to Downtown for $7, and a short ride on the Gold Line Metro to Little Tokyo will put you within 3 blocks of the apartment. It is also rumored the Bus 14 will take you to the front of the building. This is unconfirmed! But I'm working on it. . .
Once you get set up, you can take little buses, long buses, metro rail. . .You can ride Amtrack to the OC and explore LA via Red Line (Hollywood / Universal Studios), Gold Line (Pasadena), Blue Line (Convention Center / Long Beach). . .A Dash bus comes to your front door to give you a tour of downtown Los Angeles. Local express buses can take you Echo Park, Culver City, Venice, Santa Monica, et cetera. DTLA is a public transportation hub.

Alannla (email hidden): caring, available and willing to be a resource for Los Angeles newcomers. She took real ownership of her guests experience, wanting to make sure we were safe, informed and comfortable. The space is fabulous and suited all of our needs for convenience and an authentic Los Angeles experience
How come a landlord who never show up to pass the key and collect the key complaining all the time? It is really no fun.
I failed to get the key from the host from the very beginning, when I leave, no one is going to show up too. I tried my best to put it in a nearby hotel concierge and tipped them, then left messages and emails to the host, but she didn't even try to collect her key at all.
It is no fun at all when the landlord is not sweet and friendly at all, and trying her best to be a trouble maker.
My trip to the States is super, the only thing uncomfortable is this stay.
I really fell in love with this place but it is not for everyone. It is the second story of some small businesses and it is not conventionally arranged in terms of doors, locks, baths and other things. Having said that, I loved it. I loved the location which is right downtown but very small townish. It is almost unreally quiet given its location. It is on the back of building overlooking a walking alley, which is very nice to look at. It is walking distance to many things. I loved the nearby Ramen house and the ice cream truck that showed up every evening. Lots of parks and great architecture nearby. Alanna was lovely and completely responsive.
A friend as well as myself stayed at Alanna's place at different moments. Her apartment is fantastic (spacious, great downtown location) and Alanna (email hidden), felt right at home there.
Thanks Alanna for the great place-and generosity-
Lots of light/clean/easy!
super central for access to public transit if you don't feel like being in a traffic jam! Excellent ramen close by if that is your thing-
Alanna (email hidden). I had the place all to myself and enjoyed a comfortable 4 night stay. She asked what breakfast food I like and stocked the fridge in advance, which was really above and beyond. I'd definitely stay again.
I loved staying in Alanna's sunlit and cozy apartment. It was clean, comfortable and had everything you could need. It is also very well situated in terms of transportation (good if you don't have a car) and many places of interest are nearby. Alanna is very charming, resourceful, generous, easy to communicate with, and a wonderful artist! Her tips for the neighborhood are spot on. I highly recommend her place and would stay there again.
I didn't meet Alanna, but she had very good instructions and we communicated by whatsapp. That went very well. Her house is very cosy and I felt comfortable there. In front of the house is a Japanese supermarket which opens at ten. I would definitely come back to this place. Thanx again Alanna.
Four of us students stayed in Alanna's apartment during this Christmas vacation. We enjoyed the location and the apartment itself a lot. It was great for a group for four or three to share. Alanna was very helpful. We would love to come back again!
Lovely apartment, quite and filled with sunlight during the day. The bed was pretty comfortable. The neighborhood is nice and seemed relatively safe. Plenty of things to do and places to eat within walking distance. Super convenient to public transportation - Pasadena and Hollywood are just minutes away. Alanna is very nice. Great stay, I'd definitely go back again!
