iam very sorry for my check in time, it is over 12:30pm when i arrive at the place. Hitomi is very kind and guide me to my room politely even though i disturbed her. my time is too short that i just spending a night only, it's a vey pity for me to leave so soon. it's a good house and you can feel typical Japanese style and history of the house, it's very clean and tidy. The location is a bit far to kyoto, it takes 25 mins about. in gentle , i think it is a very nice house for tourist, the host is very nice even though she can't speak English.
Hitomi was friendly and very interested to get to know people. She made a book for people with places to visit.
I was there for two days and I did enjoy it! The neighbourhood was quiet and cute.
Comfortable stay, just like home. Around half an hour by J.R. from Kyoto, nice if you would like to try to experience traditional japanese family life outside city.
Hitomi is incredible. She made me feel like her home was my home. She made us fried fish, sushi rolls, crab & ikura sushi, two kinds of sake! Not only did i have a comfortable bed, warm room, fresh meal and hot shower, i also made a new friend with a great heart. i so enjoyed my brief time with her.
if you're considering staying here, you can be sure the accommodations are more than you pay for. visit manpukuji not 5 minutes away. It's beautiful, off the beaten path of kyoto's more famous temples, but very historical for zen and beautiful.
Hitomi was a kind host and her house felt like home. The rooms are quite simple. The dinner was also good! The only thing that surprised me is that the house doesn't have central heating, so it gets cold in the wintertime. Fortunately Hitomi does provide spaceheaters, which works pretty well, but the hallways are still cold. Also, the bed sheets had some hairs on them. Still, overall I didn't mind and was pleased with the value.
Hitomi was a nice host. She was very helpful with sightseeing and cooked well with lots of yakaniku and gyoza. Her house was cold in wintertime, but my room was very well heated and the bed was comfortable. She lives in a safe neighborhood.
Hitomi's house is about 30-40 minutes by train to gion shijio, my favorite area of Kyoto with amazing nightlife. As I did not have a JR pass, it was actually cheaper to eat there and save the commute time than to go back to Hitomi's house. That said, it was nice to know I had a meal if I wanted one.
Hitomi's house was in an excellent location to see the amazing fushimi inari shrine, only a few train stops away. Uji was also great. A town with a lot of history, not packed with tourists and a good, albeit non English, tea ceremony.
Overall, I would recommend Hitomi's house with the above considerations.
Hitomi is a nice parson.
I am stay in her place just one night, but feel warm like home.
