Other Things to Note
Silent Day Rules...........
What happening on the 31th March.............
Bali's Day of Silence "Nyepi" 2014
Saka New Year 1936 of Hindus
Dear Valued guests,
The Balinese Hindus do not celebrate the coming of the new year of Saka calendar with lavish party; they celebrate it with meditation instead. No activities are allowed to take place. These mandatory religious prohibitions include no pleasure (amati lelangon), no traffic (amati lelungan), no fire (amati geni) and no work (amati karya).
This year, Nyepi Day falls on 31 March 2014.
On Nyepi Day, we will not be able to accept any check-in nor check-out throughout the day.
We notice that you will be staying with us during Nyepi Day, kindly be informed of the below situations during Nyepi Day:
The silence begins at 0:00 am of 31 March 2014 and will go on until the next 24 hours
All shops are closed on Nyepi Day
Guests has to stay inside the resort area
When listening to the music or watching TV in the villa, keep the sound at minimum level
There will be no traffic on that day in the whole Bali island
Ngurah Rai airport will be totally closed on 31 March 2014, so there will be neither arrival nor departure in the airport on that day. All connecting airports around the globe have been informed in advance about this.
Across Bali, the activities are allowed only in emergency rooms and maternity section of hospitals and the arrival section of airport. Any emergencies are taken into consideration and tolerated. The whole island is in silence.
However, operational activities and services in the resort will operate normally.
The Balinese are quite open and generally welcome visitors. You can enter most temples freely. Wear a sash around waist and preferably a Sarong.
Big temples can hire a sarong at the front gate but nice to have your own. You can buy a sarong in Ubud market.
Woman who are menstruating must wait out side the temple.
If you visit a holy spring like Pura Tirtha Empul and decided to try bathing, keep your cloth on and leave the shampoo behind. it is not a bath, but an immersion on holy water. for spiritual cleansing.
Expect to pay a small donation before entering a temple. This donations are put to good use and help with the upkeep of the grounds and the temple itself.....
Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short by a night as we have an active 1 year old and there wasn't much room for her to explore.
The villa itself is in a lovely rustic/rural setting about 10-30mins (traffic dependant!) south of Ubud.
The hosts Gusde and Putri and manager wayan are very lovely people always happy to help. All the other staff were great as well.
The only downside we had was, with two young kids we only get a short window in which to explore/feed them before they need to sleep. And the villa was just that little bit too far out for us :)
Overall, a great place which we would definitely return to once the kids are older.
Good place, good view.thank you for pick up from airport at night. The breakfast is delicious
A little bit off the beaten path, this hidden gem is worth giving a try. I stayed in this villa along with my wife and two of our closest friends for three nights/4 days in January 2015. This property is nestled away on a plot of land inhabited by a large family just a short 10 min drive from downtown Ubud. With its two king-sized bedrooms on separate floors, there was plenty of room for us to spend quality time as a group in the outdoor patio area or perfect adult-sized pool or have couples time in our individual rooms. The facilities are cleaned and sheets changed daily and bottled water is provided with compliment by your host.
Breakfast is served every morning at 8am. Breakfast includes fresh fruit juice like watermelon or papaya, a tray of assorted fruits, and an entree (most likely Nasi Goreng or banana pancakes). Coffee is served upon request and is Balinese style (instant). Everything is absolutely delicious and the service by the staff is prompt and enjoyable. You are greeted with smiles at all times. The staff truly made us feel at home.
We did not have the pleasure of meeting Putri but Gusde, her husband, was our main host and he was delightful. All of the staff, as well, were quick to help us and provide anything we needed/desired. The individual I truly wish to brag on, however, is Wayan. Wayan will quickly become your best friend in Bali. He was the first face to greet us when we arrived and was one of the last faces we saw when we left. Some may be discouraged by the fact that this house is not on a main strip of downtown Ubud but don't worry about that. Wayan and the staff will take care of you.
Within our first 10 minutes at the villa, we were provided with a local cell phone with Wayan's cell phone programmed in. The AirBnB site advertises multiple shuttles offered into and from downtown Ubud through the villa. Downtown, we'd meet at Bali Pesto, a centrally-located restaurant connected to the villa, to get a ride. However, since the villa wasn't totally full, there was more flexibility with when we could arrange transport. We simply had to let Wayan know when we were ready or call him from downtown and we would have a ride within 10 min. Wayan also took us out on our first day in Ubud for a personalized tour of some of the things that make Ubud great like traditional Balinese dance, a local waterfall, and Monkey Forest. He was quick to talk about his wife and daughters and answer any question you had about Balinese culture or his life/family. Of the three places I stayed in Bali, this is by far the best place simply because the staff there makes you feel like family.
When I make it back to Ubud, this will be the place where we stay. I highly recommend it.
Pretty house tucked in a pretty village near Pengosekan. Away from the crowds, but still very accessible to Ubud. Gusde and Wayan were very kind and helpful during my stay. Driving, arranging tours, solving problems. I would definitely stay here again.
We loved the villa and its location! The center of Ubud is very crowded so I was pleased the villa was a few minutes out of the center in a beautiful setting.
The villa is exactly like in the photos and Putri and Wayan were excellent hosts. The private pool is fantastic!
They give you lifts to the center when you need them and good advice on places to see. We wanted to buy some art and Wayan brought us to a gallery out of Ubud where we could buy originals.
My partner got sick during our stay and they were most helpful: they called us a doctor at night and checked on us in case we needed anything.
I hope to go back, great villa and excellent service!
this place was lovely. I booked the 2 room villa so it came with the outdoor pavilion, kitchen and pool. I recommend doing that so that you will have private access to the villa pool. The owners are friendly. The manager, Wayan, is an absolute delight. ask him to bring you on a day trip to nearby places you are interested in. He personalises them to exactly what you like and does them for a very reasonable rate. We had conversations on sustainability and cultural tourism as he drove and even visited traditional Balinese house compounds local Balinese lived in thanks to him. The staff are flexible and really sweet. Breakfast and the shuttles are at flexible timings and best enjoyed if you just let wayan know your preferred timings in advance, you do not have to follow the scheduled ones. Not everyone wants breakfast at 8 when on holiday. Bring Insect repellent/balm , it is in the middle of rice fields after all. it is much better insect wise if you turn the air conditioning on and keep the doors/windows closed after nightfall. The bathrooms are all open concept, please take note if you are not traveling as a couple or with family. Wifi is strong and reliable. The owners also own a restaurant BaliPesto in town.you can order food in from there to dine privately in your own pavilion. The food is pretty decent and all the iced drinks were clean. Breakfast (Indonesian /western, fruit, fresh Juice and coffee/tea) is made by staff who come down to the villa. The restaurant is a convenient place to stop for a rest in Ubud and wait comfortably while the staff there get the driver in for you. Lifts by car to Ubud is included in the cost, which is great but also essential because the villa is some distance from the town centre and walking is impossible at night when rural areas are pitch black. This place is a good mix between a semi professional hotel and having local hosts and a particularly good choice for a place like Ubud.
Villa was an absolute dream. Private villa overlooking the rice paddies a little bit out of town with your own secluded pool for when it gets hot (or to wake you up in the morning). We were able to walk into town (20 minutes to the centre of town) or ask Wayan to give us a live into or out of town when required. He was great at giving advice on what to do and was able to organise tours for us as well (saving us more money). He certainly made our stay in Ubud very worthwhile.
We will definitely be coming back.
