We are located in a warm, friendly neighborhood and close to 2 subway lines. Our apartment is a home away from home with eclectic furnishings and an old world charm. Access to a full kitchen and bathroom directly off of the bedroom.
This listing is for the Master Bed in a lovely 2 bedroom apartment. The room available gets direct sun all morning and overlooks the garden.
If you want to feel like you are home and living in New York this is the place for you!
We cook dinner occasionally and offer anything we make to our guests.
Everything in my apartment is kept very clean. The beds have new and freshly laundered linens on them and clean/new towels are provided. There is a full kitchen with all the utensils and pots and pans you would need to cook a gourmet meal. 4 burner gas stove and oven. Breakfast nook in the kitchen to sit and grab a quick bite or log on to your laptop and have a cup of coffee.
There is a shared living room for hanging out if you want to read a book or just have a chat. We often use it to work from home. We do occupy the common room most of the day so privacy in the common room is rare. Two cats are also included. They keep to themselves for the most part. If you have allergies to cats please be aware. The bathroom is also shared. The bathroom is directly located next to the door of the available room so only one step in the common area to the bedroom.

Ridgewood is incredible! Lots of up and coming gallery spaces are opening up. Wonderful restaurants all around with lots of great fare such as Polish, Dominican, American, Thai, Indian, Japanese and Peruvian food as well as a fantastic farm to table restaurant.
If you are a vintage shopper we also have great vintage/thrift stores around.

Three very lovely roommates, all charming, respectful and professional. Very easy going and personable. Willing to help out.
Staying at Joan/Ian's place was overall a great experience. Joan was a great hostess, conscientious, accommodating and full of helpful information. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was just outside our bedroom door. Joan keeps a neat and clean apartment, very tidy and nicely decorated. She did a great job preparing our stay by having all sorts of informational resources ready for us, including a subway map and index cards with lots of helpful tips and information on what is available in the area.
The apartment is conveniently located only a couple of blocks from the train station which goes directly into Manhattan (or anywhere else in the five burroughs for that matter). The avenue she lives on is overflowing with all sorts of great ethnic restaurants, delis, bakeries, etc. The only caveat we have is that there is a mexican tavern right next door that plays loud music on weekend nights. But overall the price, location, amenities, and Joan herself far outweigh the noise inconvenience. We would definitely recommend staying at Joan's place when visiting NYC.
Ian's apartment is very close to line M and L, it's extremely convenient for us to go to Manhattan. We didn't get a chance to meet Ian, however we met Ian's mom Joan, who is a very cool lady. We had some nice conversation about "into the wild" and life in general with Joan, she was a interesting lady to talk to. Also the decoration of Ian's apartment is elaborate. we loved that we could see the back garden from our room. It must be beautiful in summer without all the snow. Joan provided us tips on where to shop and eat in willingsburg and lend us an umbrella since it was snowing the first day we arrived. We spent our last afternoon in willingsburg and had a lot fun. The check in was very smooth and Ian was very generous to let us leave our luggage in the apartment for a few hours after we checked out. Yes, there is a night club next to the apartment, joan provided us ear plugs. The music selection wasn't that bad, so we actually enjoyed the music at night. We would highly recommend Ian's apartment.
A artistic apartment with great hostess and lovely pets. We met Ian rarely, yet we were very happy to get to be with him. His mother, who is a very kind hostess, helps us a lot to travel the NCY. The location of apartment is very convenient to get to the subway and make daily purchase. We are glad to have stayed here!
Room exactly like the picture and more. Attention to detail, clean, quiet, convenient, privacy. You may meet Ian's mom instead of Ian but she was super chill and stayed to herself. The key worked and was provided nice quality bath towels. Five blocks from L train which connects to all trains on Manhattan. If your not a walker, which is impossible to avoid, the apartment is literally two blocks off the M line, Seneca ave stop. Stay here please. Stop searching !!!!
It would be hard to find a better place for the price. Ridgewood is a safe and affordable neighborhood, and there's a bunch of good, cheap places to eat nearby. I'd want to move to a place like this if I were relocating to NYC. The subway is only a couple of blocks away, which makes it easy to access Manhattan and much of Brooklyn.
Ian and Jose were the perfect hosts (they were super-friendly, provided us with a handwritten tourist guide, and are easy to reach if you need any help). As the other reviewers have noted, there's a bar next door that plays loud music until about 4 am, so it's perhaps not the best place to stay if you're an early sleeper, or need a lot of quiet. The head of the bed is also located near the windows, which are slightly drafty (my friend and I noticed it since we stayed in the winter). Everything else worked fine, and the decor is really cool, as you can see in the pictures.
Was good, Ian was very friendly, he recommended nice places to visit expecially the good restaurants. One big minus that in this place is very big noise from neighbourhood night club, for me was inpossible to sleep even with the ear plugs which Ian always leaving.
