About This Listing
This beautiful apartment is located in the Spaarndammerbuurt, next to the vibrant Westerpark and 5 minutes from the Jordaan area. Central Station is a 10-minute bike ride away. The whole building is completely renovated, but was originally built in the 1920's, in the so-called 'Amsterdamse School' style. The amenities include:
- A large living room, fully furnished
- A spacious bedroom with double bed
- A smaller second bedroom/study for 1
- A fully equipped kitchen
- A TV and DVD player
- Washing machine
- Spacious bathroom with shower
- Separate toilet
- Bike (lock it well!)
- Lot's of Marilyn Monroe :-)
As a true globetrotter, I've often booked through Airbnb to my great satisfaction, so I would love to return the favor! I only rent out my place when I'm exploring the world or staying with family or friends, so unfortunately my apartment is not always available.
It's a lovely place, with the beautiful Westerpark around the corner (that also includes restaurants, a cinema and theater), great restaurants in the neighborhood and at walking distance from the Jordaan and best shopping street in Amsterdam: the Haarlemmerstraat. Parking is possible (there's usually space) but you do have to pay an hourly fee of about 3 euros. On Sunday's it's free.
- Keep it clean
- Always close the windows and lock the door when you leave
- Don't light any candles
- Try not to break or damage stuff. If you do, please replace them.
- Don't use any personal belongings, besides books and kitchen equipment
- Check-out: noon
Marieke's apartment is beautiful in a very interesting architectural area of Amsterdam. The area is Amsterdam school architecture, all red brick, very charming. The apartment is very close to Westerpark, far enough away from the madness of the center to have quiet downtime but close enough to get to the action quick.
I felt very comfortable staying at her place, it was great! And Marieke was super nice. I highly recommend staying there!
Marieke was a great host. We unfortunately arrived later than we anticipated and she was understanding and gracious. The apartment was beautiful and ideally located. For architecture lovers the view on the Het Schip Museum is unbeatable. All in all a great stay.
I stayed at Marieke's flat for 4 wonderful days with two of my girlfriends. The flat was beautiful and comfortable, perfect for us 3 girls who wanted to have a great time in Amsterdam but also experience the residential side of the city. The flat is well connected for transportation and it costed us only about £15 in total one night to get home from Supper club which was not too far away either. Her flat was really clean, she made space for us in her cupboard so we could store our clothes and make ourselves feel more at home. Marieke even provided us with eggs and some refreshments upon arrival. We loved the area it was situated in as it was away from the craziness of the city. We usually took the bus into central which didn't take more than 10 minutes, and just really enjoyed that 10 minutes of the nice city view. All in all I would definitely stay here again as I don't have any negative views of this place at all!
As a last minute booking, Marieke was fantastic. Couldnt have asked for a more welcoming and kind person.
She was unfortunately away during our stay but her place was fantastic.
The place itself was, being critical, a little out of the way at about a 30minute walk to the station but the neighbourhood was nice and the walk along the canals was peaceful.
About the Host, Marieke
Native Amsterdam(ned), journalist, globetrotter, (responsible) thrill seeker, Marilyn Monroe fan, movie mad (from Asian art-house to cheesy dance flicks), into soul and (mainly oldskool) hip hop and last but not least: a great host!
