About this listing
Our quiet, comfortable and cheerfully decorated 1 bedroom Garden Apartment is located in the lovely, central neighborhood of Eastlake and can accommodate 2 people. We provide towels, sheets, a fully stocked kitchen, and everything you might need to feel at home. The garden, the lake views, and easy access by bus or car to Downtown, South Lake Union, and the University make this a beautiful and convenient home away from home. Must be at least 23 years of age, no pets, no drugs, and no smoking.
This lovely apartment opens onto the garden of our 3 story house located in the Eastlake neighborhood, with views onto the lake used in the film Sleepless in Seattle. The bedroom has a queen size bed, a comfortable chair for reading or looking out onto the lake, a walk-in closet, a desk, and a sliding glass door that leads to a patio where you can sit and enjoy the garden, the birds, and the view. The living room has a chair for lounging, a table for eating, and a couch for looking out the window or watching cable tv. There is a small bathroom with a walk-in shower and plenty of towels, and a fully stocked kitchen, all completely self-contained and separate from the apartments upstairs. Our house was built in 1912, and we have lived here for over 40 years! It is a very peaceful, hidden spot, in between the University and Downtown with easy bus access to both. We are also close to REI and South Lake Union, and there are stand up paddle board and kayak rentals about a mile away. Two blocks from our house is the site of the original Boeing seaplane hangar as well as the charming houseboats that make this neighborhood so special. There is a local mini supermarket with a fantastic wine selection, a petanque (bocce ball) court, tennis courts, coffee shops, and restaurants, all within walking distance. Wireless and basic cable are included. Upstairs lives my mother, who occasionally fills the air with the sounds of piano playing, and she is also a native German speaker, for those visiting from Germany. This is a nice, quiet oasis right in the heart of Seattle!
No pets, no drugs, must be at least 23 years of age, no extra guests, and no smoking inside or out.
The garden is yours to enjoy if you wish.
Interaction with Guests
We will occasionally be in the garden doing yard work.
The Eastlake neighborhood is a forgotten little gem, right in the heart of Seattle. It is on the shore of Lake Union and is quiet and charming. There are houseboats, a neighborhood P-Patch, shoreline parks, cafes and restaurants to stroll to, and is only 5-10 minutes from South Lake Union and 10-15 minutes to Downtown and the University.
We are half a block from Eastlake Ave E, which runs between the University and Downtown for easy bus access.
Other Things to Note
This apartment is in the lower level of our house, so it does have slightly lower ceilings (just a cautionary note for those people over 6'2"!). There are several irregular, concrete stairs leading to the Garden Apartment, so able hearts and legs are recommended.
Since this is our home, you might see us doing yard work or cleaning up, but we respect everyone's privacy.
The apartment is not child proofed and has baseboard heaters.
This is a quiet house, so please be considerate. No smoking inside or out, no pets, minimum age of 23, no extra guests, no cell phone talking outside, and no loud music or parties. We are in a very safe neighborhood, but we ask that when you are not home to close and lock all the windows and doors. We also prefer that any lights or heat are also turned off when not home, and no candles. We hope you enjoy our home! Thank you!
We had a wonderful time in seattle. The apartment was Quote perfect: clean, got everything you need, welcoming... make you feel like home. The little terrace is perfect for breakfast and has a wonderful view.
We didn't get to meet Gillian but she was a great host. The online communication before and during our stay was excellent.
The bus stop is only a few blocks away to take you to downtown.
The neighbourhood was peaceful and our stay was very relaxing and stress free.
We highly recommend.
Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. You get ALOT of space for your money. Bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom, outdoor sitting area with garden...all of it furnished with pretty much everything you'll need for your stay. We never met the hosts in person, but they clearly care about delivering an amazing experience. The neighborhood is quiet but just close enough to downtown (and everyplace else). Parking wasn't an issue. The view is great. Basically, you'll wish you lived there. The only bad thing about the place is that at some point, you'll have to leave and go back home. Just book it. You won't regret it.
This garden apartment was ideal for our stay - beautiful surrounding area, and easy access to transportation & restaurants. The sunsets over Lake Union were unforgettable!
The hosts did a lovely job of providing all the things we needed, and the apartment gave us the perfect place to relax in between excursions. The apartment is spotless and well-equipped. I greatly appreciated having coffee, toiletries and lots of information on all things Seattle. I hope to come back.
We didn't get to meet Gillian but she was a great host. She was very friendly in our online communications. She checked in with us a week before we arrived and while we were there to see if we needed anything. The apartment is cozy, clean and spacious. The view of the lake is awesome! The bus stop is only a few blocks away that takes you into downtown Seattle. There were a lot of restaurants and coffee shops in the area as well. I would definitely stay here again.
Our stay at Gillian and Barbara's was amazing!! I ended up booking the Garden Apartment for me and my now "Husband!!!" and booked the sky view apartment for my mother and family for my August 1,st Wedding. Our stay was perfect!! It was so nice to wake up and walk to our wedding venue and walk right back up after the wedding. So relaxing and stress free. The view was amazing and inside the home was so comfy. We are looking forward to our next stay there!
My wife and I loved the nice apartment near Lake Union, not only because it was near our son who we were visiting, but also because of the apartment and how great it was. The pictures and description on AirBnB were very accurate and the real thing was even better in person. Roomy apartment, comfortable bed, with all kinds of thoughtful details arranged by Gillian. She had left everything I could have thought of, from linens and towels to small appliances, to tissue boxes throughout - even earplugs if needed! Clean and a beautiful little place with an overlook of Lake Union while sitting and eating breakfast. The location was very near Seattle Center and a ton of activities. Our stay could not have been better.
We will certainly be returning on our next visit.
