About This Listing
Our quiet, comfortable and cheerfully decorated one bedroom apartment is located in the lovely, central neighborhood of Eastlake. The garden, the lake views and easy access by bus or car to Downtown, South Lake Union, and the University make this your home away from home! No pets and no smoking.
This lovely apartment opens onto the garden of our 3 story house located in the Eastlake neighborhood, with views onto the lake used in the film Sleepless in Seattle. There is a large bedroom with a queen size bed, a comfortable chair for reading or looking out onto the lake, a walk-in closet, a desk, and a sliding glass door that leads to a patio where you can sit and enjoy the garden, the birds, and the view. The living room has a chair for lounging, a table for eating, and a couch for looking out the window or watching cable tv. There is a small bathroom with a walk-in shower and plenty of towels, and a fully stocked kitchen, all completely self-contained and separate from the apartments upstairs. Our house was built in 1912, and we have lived here for over 40 years! It is a very peaceful, hidden spot, in between the University and Downtown with easy bus access to both. We are also close to REI and South Lake Union, and there are stand up paddle board and kayak rentals about a mile away. Two blocks from our house is the site of the original Boeing seaplane hangar as well as the charming houseboats that make this neighborhood so special. There is a local mini supermarket with a fantastic wine selection, a petanque (bocce ball) court, tennis courts, coffee shops, and restaurants, all within walking distance. Wireless and basic cable are included. Upstairs lives my mother, who occasionally fills the air with the sounds of piano playing, and she is also a native German speaker, for those visiting from Germany. This is a nice, quiet oasis right in the heart of Seattle!
No pets, no drugs, and no smoking inside or out.
The garden is yours to enjoy if you wish.
Interaction with Guests
We will occasionally be in the garden doing yard work.
The Eastlake neighborhood is a forgotten little gem, right in the heart of Seattle. It is on the shore of Lake Union and is quiet and charming. There are houseboats, a neighborhood P-Patch, shoreline parks, cafes and restaurants to stroll to, and is only 5-10 minutes from South Lake Union and 10-15 minutes to Downtown and the University.
We are half a block from Eastlake Ave E, which runs between the University and Downtown for easy bus access.
Other Things to Note
This apartment is in the lower level of our house, so it does have slightly lower ceilings (just a cautionary note for those people over 6'2"!). There are several irregular, concrete stairs leading to the Garden Apartment, so able hearts and legs are recommended.
Since this is our home, you might see us doing yard work or cleaning up, but we respect everyone's privacy.
The apartment is not child proofed and has baseboard heaters.
This is a quiet house, so just the normal amount of consideration is nice. No pets. No cell phone talking outside, loud music, parties, no extra guests, etc. as well as no drugs and no smoking, even outside, as it will float up to the rest of us. We are in a very safe neighborhood, but we ask that when you are not home to close and lock all the windows and doors. We also prefer that any lights or heat are also turned off when not home, and no candles. Please, no extra guests on the couch. We hope you enjoy our place! Thank you!
The place was comfy and on a great location.
Nice lake view, fast internet, rented out by lovely people and all for a great price. Triple A
The apartment is absolutely amazing.
My friend and I were very happy and comfortable. Garden view was great and restaurents that Gillian informed were very satisfied. In the house there were many useful things including towels.
If I visit Seattle later, I want to stay this apartment again.
Gillian made us feel very welcome. The detailed instructions were very helpful. The apartment was very clean and located in a quaint area. I would recommend this to anyone.
The apartment was absolutely wonderful! We were so comfortable and Gillian provided so many helpful notes and recommendations. Everything was so clean and organized and we really felt at home. We used her restaurant guide multiple times and were never disappointed. The apartment has the most amazing view of the lake outdoors as well as indoors. We could not have been happier with our stay. If we make it back to Seattle, we hope this location is available. It was perfect!
We felt very welcome, like family. Besides all the useful items, her studio is furnished artfully and comfortably, a home away from home. We loved the view of the garden and the waterfront. We would have enjoyed staying a lot longer there.
Very clean place in an excellent location. Good views of the lake.
