About this listing
An 1860 Terrace, Chunky House has been sympathetically renovated to retain it's period charm. Fitted with modern bathrooms, a country style kitchen, separate living and dining rooms, this is a property that will meet the expectations of people looking for an upmarket experience of Melbourne in a friendly 'at home' environment.
This room is fitted with two single beds and cupboard storage. (Please see other listings under Fitzroy Terrace for extra accommodation) There are two bathrooms, one private and one to share should both rooms be occupied.
The kitchen is fully available to share with me, however with so many great cafes around you'll probably decide to go out for most meals. I provide the tea and coffee basics and we talk about the rest if that's ok with you.
One car parking permit is also available on a 'first in best dressed' basis. ($50 refundable deposit applies)
Fitzroy is Melbourne’s equivalent of Soho in London and New York, the Left Bank in Paris or Greenwich Village. Here you will find a profusion of restaurants of every nationality, wine bars, clubs and venues famous for music from all over the world.
Public transport via tram is about a minutes walk out the front door and it's pretty easy to get anywhere you'd like without making too many route changes. I'll have some public transport maps for your reference and lots of advice. Walking is a great option with the CBD being a mere 15 minute brisk walk away
Please no eating or alcohol consumption in bedroom. Leave kitchen clean for next person. All the rest is good common sense.
Great location and wonderful home. Keren was very friendly and made me feel very welcome. The home is very peaceful and private, I would highly recommend. Also having a parking permit was incredibly helpful.
Karen's house is absolutely gorgeous, ideally located in Fitzroy. I had all I needed for my 2 day stay. I did not spend much time there as I was out and about exploring Melbourne for most of my stay but I can only recommend staying at her house.
Keren is very kind and helpful. She made me feel at home and also showed and gave me some very handy maps of Melbourne. The bed was perfect and everything is nice and clean. The location is great in the heart of Fitzroy, which is the best place to visit a nice cafe or to do some lovely shopping. I really enjoyed my first Airbnb experience at Keren's place and I would definitely recommend it to others.
We were warmly welcomed by Keren into her art-filled home, which is located in the hipster cafe district of Fitzroy. Being able to go for a divine breakfast or dinner a few steps out the door was wonderful. The tram connection is similarly convenient and a short ride to the CBD. Keren gave us maps and loaned us Miki travel cards which were hugely helpful and easily topped up at the corner store nearby. I Loved the soft but supportive bed and warm linen and slept very well, but my travel buddy mentioned she prefers a bed with more give. Powerpoints and a heater (also a fan) in the room were appreciated. Our window looked into a sweet courtyard too. We would have found a bin and a few more hooks/wardrobe to hang out clothes helpful, but made good use of the hook on the door and the bin in the polished bathroom- which also had plentiful warm water with great water pressure! Be aware the house is a beautiful terrace with the lovely timber floors of that era, so care on the stairs is needed to keep things quiet when returning late at night- fortunately Keren's other guests were really considerate. Keren was a great host, happy to chat but also recognising when her guest had shopping fatigue! She has thought things out really well as a host and staying in her home was a key feature of a great holiday.
This was a great place to stay, with a fabulous location just off Gertrude St. It has really easy tram links to the city, or is only a 15 minute walk if you're so inclined.
The beds were comfortable and the rooms were warm - it was a total delight to relax here after a long day of exploring the city. You really feel at home in the communal areas. The locking system was great, no hassle with keys!
The rooms and property are exactly as described in the images, warm and welcoming. Keren was also a fantastic host who was very accommodating to all our needs. She really does open her home to you and is great at giving recommendations for the area. I'd definitely stay again!
Thank you Keren for making my two night stay relaxing and comfortable. Bed was great, everything I needed was available and the location terrific. The car park was an added bonus as well.
Keren's house is located in an excellent location, just off the busy street of Gertrude (lots of boutique shops, restaurants, cafes, and the tram). Keren was a great host, she was welcoming and was full of tips for first time Melbourne visitors! We stayed in the room with the two single beds, it was clean and tidy. Everything listed on the posting met my expectations.
