About This Listing
The flat is a lovely, cosy and light flat with two bedrooms near Herne Hill, Brixton and Dulwich.
The flat is light and airy on the second floor, has original wooden floors throughout and a bo-ho feel. The flat has also been recently redecorated, and the kitchen and bathroom are both new. The kitchen is open plan to the lounge and there is a dining table with 5 chairs that guests enjoy using for mealtimes and also just sitting, relaxing or reseaching on the internet for interesting places to go in London.
There is wifi in the flat and I also leave a laptop in the reception room for guests to use freely during their stay.
I occupy one of the bedrooms, and the guest bedroom is a comfy double room at the back of the flat, with two windows both overlooking the rooftops of London and the gardens and trees below. The room is quiet and private as it is seperated from the other bedroom, which is a bonus for guests as it provides privacy when needed at the end of a long day sightseeing.
The flat is located about 15 minute walk from Herne Hill which has several nice restuarants, pubs and a beautiful park with a cafe in the middle. It is also a short bus ride to brixton with the tube and all the lively ameneties, pubs and restaurants, including the new and popular Brixton Village with all sorts of small unique and inexpensive restaurants there. In the other direction is gorgeous East Dulwich with its arty market stalls on the weekend, and plenty of pubs or places for brunch.
There are several different ways of getting into central London. From the end of the road, 3 buses go to Brixton where there is the tube - Brixton is on the Victoria line which goes straight into central London. Also at the end of the road are buses straight to London Bridge, where you can walk along the southbank to Waterloo, the London Eye, or in the other direction to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. There is also an overland train which goes North to Kings Cross, the next station is Elephant and castle which is onyl 3 minutes away, and from there you can walk up to the South Bank in 12 minutes.
To help guests with travel plans I provide some drawings of how to get around, as well as use of a large London street map and large tube map, all of which guests have found very useful.
During the week I work Monday to Friday and usually arrive home in the evening around 7pm. Guests are free to use the flat during the day or evening. I really enjoy chatting in the evening & weekends to guests, find out where they have been, and swap travel stories etc. If I have friends over to dinner I'll invite guests along too if they like so they can get to know some local people. It really is a lovely place to stay and I look forward to welcoming you to my home!
No rules, just smoke outside please.
Nous avons passé un merveilleux moment à Londres et en partie chez Elizabeth.
The apartment is very good, as in the description.
The bus stop 100 meters from the apartment and you can reach the center in 20 minutes without taking the head!
Note to travelers coming from Gatwick airport: a train can take you to 100 meters from the apartment, which we did not know arrived but was very useful for our departure.
Brief Elizabeth has welcomed us and was very kind, and I'll get back gladly if the mood takes me back to London!
Elizabeth was gracious enough to host us fairly last minute. Her place is a 5 minute walk to Loughborough Junction rail station which I felt was the easiest way to get in/out of the city (caution - this train runs sporadically so having citymapper or some transit schedule on hand is imperative to using this station). Otherwise, brixton underground stop is only a 10 minute bus ride away. The neighborhood itself is just a teeny bit sketch, stores close early and there's a disproportionate amount of fried chicken/Caribbean chicken restaurants. Her place is just as advertised (there are 40+ reviews available so I don't feel the need to go into too much detail). It's an older flat, 3rd floor without lift access but the stairs were manageable even with large luggage. bedroom was very homey and comfy with plenty of electrical outlets available. Her bathroom is shared with a flatmate although clean. As far as Elizabeth herself, she is so helpful. She offered tea when we first came in. appliances, laptop computer, and travel books were made available for guest (website hidden);dr: Fairly convenient albeit older home for use as a home base from which to explore London via metro, but don't expect to spend much time in brixton.
It was my first experience with airbnb and it couldn't be better. The room is exactly how it is shown in the pictures (perhaps even bigger)and Liz is really kind! I could cook, use the washing machine, have some stuff in the fridge...the truth is that I spent a good time there and if I ever come to London again, I would love staying there.
It is also well-located. There is a train line that takes you directly to the centre in 10 minutes!
My trip was a flying visit, the room was lovely, fresh bed sheets and towels. The flat is great and very homely, well located for the purpose of my visit, but also not far from Loughborough Junction to make your way quickly into the city.
Liz was lovely, very helpful and I would stay again.
Excelente localização, tão fácil de obter os comboios frequentes de Lougborough Junct para Downtown. Liz é muito descontraído e permite-lhe desfrutar do apartamento e usar o Wi-Fi.

About the Host, Elizabeth
I am a young 34 year old professional living in South East London, in my own flat I have recently lovingly re-decorted throughout. I work in Notting Hill in a property company. My main interests outside work are going for long runs in nearby parks, going out for great food & wine, as well as the odd night out dancing, cooking, films, theatre and really everything else interesting London has to offer. Meeting interesting people from different places is essential to my life. I also go to weekly Spanish classes which are a lot of fun and try to keep up the language I learnt travelling.
I love travelling in all sorts of ways and have had a few long trips both in South-East Asia and Australia and most recently in Mexico and Central America, and though haven't too much time to go wandering at the moment, this is why have decided to rent out my second room and hopefully host some of the travel spirit at home!
