About this listing
Want to to stay in the heart of Commercial Drive, just 10 minutes from downtown? Come and stay in our recently renovated main floor suite in a 107 year old heritage home, with a look that is more mid-century modern than it is heritage. We have a master bedroom with a teak Queen size bed, a small kids room with an in-betweener bed and a beautiful brand new sofa bed in the living room to fulfill your sleeping needs.
Our modern kitchen is loaded with everything you need to cook up a storm. We have a new 36" gas range, Rancilio Sylvia Espresso machine, Bosch dishwasher and a beautiful dining room with a table that seats 8.
Enjoy the deck off of the modern kitchen to a manicured backyard filled with fresh herbs and a garden. And if the weather permits you can eat outside. This table also seats 8.
Our home is located seconds from the famous Commercial Drive with a huge selection of restaurants, cafes, shops and more. Public transit is half a block away from our front door for you to easily access the rest of the city.
Hope you enjoy your stay!
You have access to the back yard as well as the main floor of house.
Interaction with Guests
The chances are if you're staying at our place we're off to some far away land blowing our kids mind. (Hopefully).
The most eclectic neighbourhood in Vancity. I love it here. Known for the coffee shops and cheap eats. Our version of little Italy.
There is a bus stop just a half a block from our front door. Parking is available out front of the house but be aware of the permit only signs and park accordingly.
Other Things to Note
Cushions for the back deck need to come inside when it rains for obvious reasons.
This is our home and we hope you enjoy it. We have many art pieces on the walls and ask that you please don't touch them (especially the large red resin piece). Please keep sticky liquids off of the living room rug & furniture etc.
Please wash chef knives by hand.
Our house partners are upstairs in the house. Please introduce yourselves and say hi. They don't bite.
Shawn was a great host! Amazing apartment in a great location. Everything was pretty seamless ( I misplaced the front door key, however, I sent him an email offering to reimburse him or subtract from the deposit so I hope he did so). The neighbors are so nice and the back patio is incredible. Cute garden, lovely space. All we could have asked for.
This is a great place to stay! Shawn is a speedy communicator so we could easily connect. The apartment is just as it appears in the photos - funky, clean, inviting, spacious.I booked it for my parents to visit with me. It turned out to be the ideal place. We had room for visits, hanging out as a family in the living room. My folks had a place of their own for naps and slept quiet and comfortable throughout the night.
Great spacious home with all the amenities my family needed. The place is immaculate. It is exactly what I expected from seeing the photos. This is a much better accommodation than staying at hotel. Lots more space to stretch out and relax. Just a short bus ride to the Sky Train station. It was so convenient for us to go sightseeing every day. A number of inexpensive restaurants, bars and health food stores are just around the corner so we didn't bother cooking even though there is a full kitchen with all the utensils we would need.
We definitely would stay here again the next time we are in Vancouver.
About the Host, Shawn
I'm on Airbnb so my family can share our home while we're out of town and we can help show off this exquisite city. It is really amazing here and we're very proud to be a part of this neighbourhood.
I am a founder of an internet startup and my partner Jen owns Hip Baby in Kitsilano on 4th Avenue ((website hidden)) and is also a graphic designer. We just had a little girl 2 years ago this December so our place is very baby/toddler friendly. We consider ourselves "foodies" so our kitchen is set up to cook and we have a long list of great restaurants within walking distance.
Jen and I love the mountains and spend a lot of time in Whistler but the majority of the time is spent in our backyard. It's our little oasis.
