Great location
90% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Upstairs bedroom with a balcony overlooking a forest, creek and the Metro-parks is in a recently-updated 160 yr old house set back off the road on a serene, quiet 5 acres surrounded by lovely trees and wildlife and a hot tub and summertime pool

The space
This room is airy and peaceful with a full bed, comfy recliner, flat-screen tv, mini-fridge, electric water kettle, and ceiling fan. It features a glass-railed balcony so you can take in all the nature without obstruction. There's plenty of room in the dresser and closet for your belongings. We've provided robes in the closet for your use while traveling to/from Hot tub, pool, or bath. We have extras/different sizes, just ask.

There is a full bathroom across the hall exclusive to the upstairs with a shower and tub and towel provided. You will have upstairs bath all to yourself (Hosts' bed/bath as well as another 1/2 bath for pool and family/guests are on the main floor).

The main house and upstairs are pet-free. Our cat lives in our attached office and outside.

Guest access
Guests have access to the upstairs bedroom, balcony, and bathroom, entering the house through a side door near the stairs.

A washer, dryer, and an iron are available for use in the basement very near to the room and entrance.

Guests have access to the heated chlorine-free pool in the summer and chlorine-free, clothing-optional jacuzzi year-round. Pool is only open in the summer, approx. June 30 - Sept. 1.

Please feel free to explore the property and the surrounding forest & creek/river which leads directly into the metro-parks.

Other things to note
Our home is a peaceful, friendly atmosphere, with a retreat-like feel.
Family is very important to us and Sunday evenings some of our family gathers in main house and plays cards and games.
Family, grandchildren and family-friends may be using the pool or hot tub at any time.
Occasionally there may be some of our family members staying in the room next to you. They will try to be quiet and leave the bathroom for your use only.

If you find that you are loving the surroundings and would like to take home a photo-memory, Al is an excellent, award-winning photographer and would be happy to do a portrait session of you for a very reasonable fee.

Location

Berea, Ohio, United States

Berea is one of the 50 safest cities in Ohio (#36) according to the FBI crime report statics.
Our home has all the conveniences of urban living including a 5 minute drive to the Cleveland Hopkins airport and dining/shopping/movie theatre right around the corner.
You can walk down the street a few blocks to take a hike or bike ride on the metro park trails, or hike right from our back yard into the park.
You could head to historic downtown Berea to pick up some pizza or sit down for a steak while you're in town visiting your child (perhaps?) at Baldwin Wallace College which is also 5 minutes away.

If you're in town for a convention or work in the city we're only 20 minutes from downtown Cleveland, the Convention Center, Rock n' Roll hall of fame, Casino, science center, stadiums, and Lake Erie. What a treat to return at night to a quiet and peaceful room after your excursions in the city.

If you're on a road-trip, we're very close to the Ohio Turnpike (80).

If you don't have a car we're very close to public transportation, Cleveland's Rapid Transit will take you right downtown in a flash.

If you need a ride from/to the airport just ask Anne, if available, she'll be happy to drive you for a very reasonable fee.

Al and I are both Cleveland natives. I am a retired race horse trainer and boarding stable owner/operator and my husband, Al is a retired master photographer. We've been happily married for almost 50 years. We put a lot of energy into creating and maintaining a beautiful and welcoming living space. We are all about family, but when our four grown children and fourteen grandchildren are busy with their own lives we are busy with various hobbies. Al is a senior olympic medalist in volleyball, as well as an avid card and game player, Japanese garden enthusiast, and forever a brilliant photographer. I love birdwatching, reading books, helping people through volunteer work, walking in the park with our dog Chloe, being active in my church community and gardening. We've always opened our home and hearts to friends and sometimes even strangers in need of a bed or a family for the holidays. Airbnb seems like a natural fit for us. It makes us happy to provide a welcoming, comfortable space for people and we enjoy learning about other's lives.
