Mezzanine in our dashing warehouse

Loft - Shared room · Leswin Pl, London, N16 7NJ, United Kingdom

The Space

We have a semi private double sofa bed to let in our East London loft . The sofa bed is on the mezzanine level and open into the living room below. We also have a private room for £40 a night so please check my other listing if this suits you better.

We are located on a cobbled courtyard in Stoke Newington, only a few streets north of Dalston, and merely a 20min bus ride to Liverpool Street or Kings Cross.

Please note that at the moment we can't take bookings more than 30 days in advance, so if you are looking for accommodation within the next month, please carry on reading.

Your room:
Your room is in the apex of the roof, on the mezzanine level, its open into the living room below, and sleeps 2 people. It usually acts as our studio, so it has computer connections and even a pair of turntables and a mixer. Its very peaceful in the mezzanine and has lovely views of the flat. It would be perfect for the someone on a tight budget, but who doesn't want to sacrifice aesthetic or comfort. The sofa bed is a double with a futon style mattress, firm but very, very comfortable and good for your back too.

Location:
Stoke Newington is a great area with many bohemian cafés, bars, pubs and international restaurants all within a short walk. Take a
5min walk North and you hit Church street, a 'village like' street full of restaurants, deli's, independent shops, boutiques and a beautiful park (Clissold), as well as one of the ‘magnificent seven’ Victorian garden cemeteries of London (Abney Park).
We are within walking distance of the exceptionally hip area, Dalston, and its many clubs and bars, and a quick bus/train ride to Shoreditch, Hoxton and Brick Lane, famous for their street art scene and creative industries.
We have organic food shops nearby, 24hrs open corner shop, and the Saturday farmers market is 2 min. away.

Transport:
5min. walk to either...
- 24hr bus that goes directly to Shoreditch/Brick lane, the City, Central London, Kings Cross and Victoria.
- Overground train (Rectory Road) which takes you to Liverpool Street Station in 15mins, from where you can connect to Central & West London.
15 min walk to...
- Dalston Kingsland overground train.
We also have a private car park lot available at the back of the building at no extra cost.

Apartment:
We take pride on our characterful home, which is within an old warehouse building and has high ceilings, large windows and exposed wood beams. We have two bedrooms and open plan living room/kitchen. Stuart works with many internationally renowned graffiti artists, and so our flat is its own mini gallery, with many original pieces hanging (and some painted directly) on the walls.
We have a fully equipped kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine, and wifi internet; we can even offer you the use of a computer if you need.
The apartment is on the first floor and is reached by a wide staircase, however there is no lift.

About us:
I am currently traveling, so you will be sharing the flat with Stuart and our two cats, who freely wonder around the flat.
Stuart is Scottish/Caribbean and I am Mexican/ Chilean, we both work in creative fields and love good food!
We are very sociable and relaxed, the area is full of artists and musicians, and so consequently, there's quite often someone popping by for a cup of tea so meeting new friends during your stay is almost guaranteed. But we also respect privacy and quiet times.

Meals:
Our kitchen is always well stocked, with a vast array of exotic spices and sauces from our travels, and we are both avid cooks, so there's always something interesting at hand, any specifics can be bought within a short walking distance. As we mentioned before, we are also surrounded by a fantastic variety of restaurants, catering for everything from meat-lovers to vegans and everything in between.

  • You would be so lucky to secure a booking at Stuart's place!! He goes above and beyond to make sure you feel comfortable, get info about where to go and where to eat. The mezzanine is warm & the cats Lola and Nacho are an added bonus ;) he is a relaxed, happy guy & we would absolutely recommend him, we certainly feel that we've made a friend for life!!

  • Stuart is a perfect host because you can feel that he honestly enjoys being with people!
Prior to our arrival he wasnt just reachable for our questions but has also asked actively for our arrival time, to be prepared for us on time. Also during our stay he was more than hospitable. We arrived very early and although he was up until late at night, he welcomed us with fresh coffe. We had a three-hours chat then, Stuart gave us some nice tips how to discover London besides the typical tourist-routes and he also invited us to join him and his friends to go out at night.
The flat is an event, too - so full of character! On each wall and in each corner you will find something to discover: Paintings, Drawings, Graffities, small and big pieces of art..
If you are not looking for luxury but prefer staying at an individual and cozy place with open-minded people and in an urban neighborhood, I can highly recommend Stuart and his place!

  • Our stay at Stuarts place was nice! He is a friendly person and we felt welcomed in his loft the moment we arrived. We had fun talks and our bed was really comfortable. Thank you Stuart! :)

  • Stuart was a fantastic host! So accommodating, he really made me feel at home with his friendly and open presence. His home is a really cool place, a treasure trove of beautiful things and memories, that I feel very lucky to have been able to stay and enjoy the sights and stories Stuart had to offer. He also told us about some really nice restaurants around the area as well as fast routes to all the places we wanted to see, he was very helpful.

The room was small but comfortable, as was the bed, über comfortable, with cute and clean bedsheets. It was really nice. He provided us with a warm shower and bath, he also offered towels, big, substantial ones, which was appreciated and a range of shower products.

I had a really lovely time staying with Stuart. I found him so sincere and interesting. I hope I can one day stay with him again and I would recommend others to stay with dear Stuart and his lovely home with two cool cats, always.

  • From the moment I arrived to when I, reluctantly, left, I was utterly charmed by Stuart, his welcoming ways and his warm, comfortable and colourful flat.

Stuart was a wonderful host. He put me straight at ease, offered me a cup of tea, and we sat down to chat like old friends. The room I stayed in was great, and the bed was comfortable. A special mention must go to the pillows which were wonderfully soft too.

On the Sunday, myself and the other houseguests wandered around Stoke Newington on a magical mystery tour led by Stuart. I felt like I had been introduced to a little slice of life in Stokey, and it felt good!

I would totally recommend Stuart's place to other travellers. It's interesting, he is wonderfully engaging and interested, and any
visit to London will be made the better by staying here.
