Doble room with own and private room and nice view, , Kitchen and spacious and confortable dining room, WiFi and washing machine.
Close of stores, restaurants and public transportation (bus, metro).
Five minutes to the beach, and near of Olimic port, Forum and Sagrada Famila.
Overall - an extremely shaky start but an ok experience in the end.
Location - good, Poblenou about 20 mins metro ride from Rambla etc, apartment about 5 mins walk from a lovely beach. Neighbourhood itself pleasant, if a little quiet.
Host - we arrived late (1am) as our plane had been delayed. We had forewarned Luis about this but received no reply. At the apartment no one answered even after a long time and so we were stranded. The number Luis had given us was out of use. By this time it was 1.30am so we obviously did not want to stick around any longer. Found a nearby Holiday Inn and used the wifi to attempt to contact Luis. Still no reply to our email hours before. Managed to ring Air Bnb offices (in the US so cost us a lot of money!) and Ty, the customer service rep could not get in touch with Luis on either of the numbers he had provided. So we had to book in that night at the holiday inn (significantly more expensive than the apartment) and Ty sorted out a refund for that night. We finally got in touch with a guy called Salvador who was supposed to greet us and arranged to check in at 11am the next day. Salvador was not there when we got to the apartment in the morning. We hung around for 45 mins and he came back and found us - it transpired he had waited around for 15 mins (we were a little late waking up after the sleepless night - understandably) and gone off to tend to some personal business. We weren't impressed with his attitude as he tried to make out he had done nothing wrong the night before and that it was all our fault, despite the fact we had air bnb on our side and we had the emails and attempted telephone calls to prove it. There were no attempts by either Luis or Salvador to make it up to us for the chaotic previous night. We had an apology from Salvador in the end but not one from Luis. Once we were all checked in however, it was fine, we had no contact with the hosts; they just left us to it.
Apartment - private bathroom, very clean, good kitchen facilities, pleasant communal living room. HOWEVER very poor security - we had an absolutely tiny padlock for our door and the balcony (first floor up from the busy high street below) did not lock properly.
After several stays, I discovered Poblenou good, ambient place, close to the sea, the center and got own Rambla , the apartment is clean, well located, well organized, good for short and long stays, thank you
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The stay at Luis home didn`t come into being because there was a technical problem with the booking system.
I have spent one week in Luis' apartment. It is clean, well-appointed and as advertised. Its location is convenient both to reach the beaches and to go to the city center. The street in front is lively and has a lot of restaurants, bar, shops and convenience stores. On one hand, this provides several alternatives and does not force to walk a lot to sastisfy the basic needs. On the other hand, this makes the neighborhood rather noisy as well. People can speak loudly until 2-3 am and life begins again around 7 am at most. This may be a problem if you want to sleep, especially because only light curtains cover the windows and no shutters are present. Aside from these considerations, which are positive in the overall, I must say that I was disappointed by the behavior of the host. We had satisfying and reassuring communications during the reservation process and before my trip. Unfortunately, this was not enough to have a pleasant and "surprise-free" experience. More specifically, we agreed on a time of arrival for the first day, i.e., 1 am. However, I could access the apartment only 7 hours after my arrival, i,e, at 8 pm, which is a big delay. In practice, the host was not available when I arrived and there was no way of contacting him. I had to wait for almost 3 hours before being able to get in touch with a person that could provide some help (the person that actually lives in the apartment, which as I said made me enter the apartment 7 hours after my arrival). A second problem has been experienced for my departure. The day before my departure, at 1 am in the morning, I was told that I would have had to free the room within 9 hours, i.e., 10 am, since the room had to be cleaned before the arrival of the next guest. It goes without saying that I would have appreciated a longer notice, at least 24h, especially considering the problem I had when I arrived. Anyways, I freed my room at 10 am as requested, but noone came to clean the room. I actually left the apartment at 4 pm (I received the permission to do so), ans still noone had come to clean the room. In practice, I could have lived my last day a lot more calmly if I had been told to free the room later. Summarizing, I spent one week in Luis' apartment, hence the impact of the problems I had for the arrival/departure has been limited to a couple of days. Had I spent less time in Barcelona probably my review would have been much worse, especially if considering the noisy neighborhood.
