Interaction with Guests
When I'm home, of course I like to meet new people from different parts of the world and share a glass of wine. However, I realize many guests want a get away and of course I respect privacy.
South San Francisco (a small city of its own) has a great downtown area (not to be confused with the south part of San Francisco) with many shops and restaurants. The apartment is peaceful and quiet with great views of the Bay, yet close to public transportation, and walking distance to grocery stores (1 mile). Trader Joes and Costco, 1.7 miles away!
Bart and Caltrain. Both only 1.5 miles away. Extra commuter bikes that you can use if you are a greenie.
You can take the Bart from the airport to the South San Francisco station, where there are cabs available to take you 1.5 miles to the apartment, or if you have a fitness band, try walking and add about 3000 steps!
Other Things to Note
Walking distance to downtown South San Francisco which has many different kinds of restaurants; Korean, Italian, Chinese, Mexican, Vietnamese, Thai, and several I haven't tried yet.
After damaged sofa covers and re-painting walls several times... NO SMOKING, NO KIDS, and NO PETS. Sorry.
Clean up after yourself. Long term guests must take out their own trash and put in proper recycling bins. This is a quiet household. Parties, OK, but not wild :)
Philip left me with excellent instructions on what would be needed and even have a YouTube Video detailing how to get into the apartment. Philip was traveling but the process went very well and he made me feel welcomed. The description is accurate and the neighborhood nice and quiet. The apartment does have very nice views, clean with very comfortable bed with all amenities and nice HD TV with full basic channels. A very good experience and private.
The listing is accurate and in a very nice quiet neighborhood. It is in South San Francisco very close to the airport. The studio apartment is clean and modern with all amenities. Even some cooking supplies were provided. It has a very nice open feel to it. There is a nice patio outside where you can sit and enjoy the breeze. I would highly recommend staying here. Driving to downtown area during rush hour takes around 30 - 40 minutes. The apartment is a pleasant oasis to come back to after the hustle and bustle of the day.
Phillip met us the first night of our stay, and gave us some information about our location. At first, we had hoped to stay in San Fransisco, but after shopping for some options, we decided to stay at this South San Francisco apartment, and we are so glad we did. The neighborhood is pristine and quiet, and the spot that this house sits on has a majestic view of the area. The apartment itself was clean, modern, and very well designed. We had rented a car, so we had easy access to the entire bay area, but were very happy to come back to this scenic retreat at the end of each day.
We had a wonderful time staying here and wished we could've stayed longer. The place was very nice and clean! Philip was a great host and we really appreciate him and his wife letting us stay here. 10/10!
Phillip was a wonderfull host. The appartment was very nice just as in the pictures, he even lend us two bikes to use. I will definitly recommend you to stay with Phill.
Philip and Wendy gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. The apartment is at a lower level of a larger house (where the hosts live), but fully functional and self-contained. It even has its own very nice stone patio with fabulous views of the hills and the SF airport. The house is located near the top of a large hill. It was very fun to watch large A380s and 777s take-off in the distance. However, the noise was low and with the doors closed you couldn't hear anything inside the apartment.
Inside the apartment is large and very practical. A large comfortable queen-size bed, a sofa-bed, pretty new washer-dryer, large TV, fast wifi, very modern tables/chairs and a modern finish. We were surprised just how much storage space was hidden away in all the shelves and drawers. There is also a separate large closet area next to the bathroom.
Downtown South SF is very close by, a pleasant 10-15min walk. They have nice coffee shops, restaurants (I particularly like Siam Spoon Thai), and a library, among other things all very close by. Department stores like Target, Safeway and a movie theatre are also just 5mins drive.
About the Host, Philip
I am a road warrior afraid that moss will grow on my feet. I travel light, and don't carry much.
Having me as a guest: I'm the type of guest that is equal to the type of guest that I'd like to have as a host. That means I clean up after myself. I respect others' property and privacy, yet I'm open to hanging out and getting to know the host, and would love that also. I like to make a contribution to the household rather than being an energy suck. That could include doing my share of chores, buying some groceries, treating for dinner, etc.
Things I can't live without include my family, friends, bicycle and backpack.
Favorite places include the mountain peak in back of my house, and other high places in Switzerland.
Favorite authors include Malcolm Gladwell and George Friedman.
Favorite movies include Jerry Maguire and Legends of the Fall.
I love all kinds of music.
I've recently become a vegan in the last 3 years and see no need to eat meat or animal products other than an occasional lobster and cheese:).
