The Space

Recently restored, the Bed&Breakfast Al Canal is an oasis of tranquillity and peace in the heart of Venice, the Giudecca island, out of the crowded and noisy touristic itineraries.
In 15 minutes you can reach St. Mark square, train station, piazzale roma or tronchetto parking car station by waterbus that runs every 10 minutes.
The B&B is named "al Canal" since it faces a large canal and is located on the ground floor of a typical Venetian 17th century building.

The spacious bathroom with shower is shared by the guests.

Continental breakfast is included and during the warm season it can be served in the garden.
The B&B al Canal is an ideal place where to spend a vacation in a quiet and economic way, here you get to know a popular and genuine Venice. It is personally run by the owner, a “pure venetian” lady who will provide you with suggestions about the most secret and magical parts of the city, where everything is art.

  • We loved staying with Francesca. She was so nice opening her home and so friendly. Our room was exactly as expected and the garden is lovely. We were here in April so still a bit chilly but you can imagine how wonderful the garden would be in all it's summer glory :) we enjoyed being over in guidecca because it was nice to escape the large groups of tourists that were downtown. Thanks Francesca!

  • A few years ago, I studied in Venice for 5 months and also lived on Giudecca. It is still my favorite part of the city. Back then, people who visited me stayed in hotels and most experiences were horrible (very little value for a lot of money). That's why I would recommend this place to everybody, it's like having your own Venetian home for an excellent price. Francesca is a very warm host, she took great care of us and the rooms are very clean. The area is very quiet at night, we were staying on the canal side and it was nice to see the boats sailing by in the morning. We liked the room a lot, it was very cosy with a great view. The breakfast in the morning was also nice, and especially big according to Italian standards. And we loved to stop in the morning near Vaparetto-stop Palanca for a nice cappuccino with a view on the city. If you are ever going to visit Venice and wish also to meet the locals, Francesca's house on Giudecca is the place to stay!

  • Francesca was a great host. She was very helpful and attentive to our needs. We had the Canal room which was great and added that much more to our stay. We didn't expect to be served breakfast every morning which was an added bonus as well.

Although it is a little more of a commute to the main island in Venice, it is worth it. It's a nice quite retreat from a day filled with crazy bumbling tourist on the main land.

    I recommend staying with Francesca.

    Thanks, Frank

  • Francesca is an excellent host who made us feel comfortable and welcome at B&B AL CANAL. She knows Venice thoroughly and advised us about which boats to ride to get to our destinations. Our room was spacious and comfortable and we had a view of a small canal right out the window. We will stay here again when we return to Venice.

  • We loved our room at Francesca's place. We had the canal room and had the most gorgeous view. Our room was spacious and clean as was the bathroom. we were also provided with clean towels.
Francesca was lovely and helpful. She also provided very clear directions as to how to get to her place which is great as Venice is a labrynth of tiny streets and laneways.
Her place is not on the main island but we liked this because it was quieter. It was really easy to get around with the water buses and they leave frequently and run 24/7.
We recommend this place for others looking to visit Venice

  • How wonderful to stay with Francesca - the garden is a beautiful sanctuary, the room lovely and freshly cleaned, the bathroom organized, and a nice size, with a tub/shower with great water pressure. I loved the location - which is quiet and a 5 min walk from the boat. Thank you Francesca - your warmth and welcoming spirit helped make my holiday! Michele

  • The Canal View is a lovely place to stay, very comfortable and easy location in Venice. Being just across the water from the main islands was a great decision, there are ample cafes and shops and easy transport to the major locations.

Francesca is a charming and helpful host, the location is clean and comfortable.
