WHERE. Kenwood is a small community about 1 hour drive north of the Golden Gate Bridge; 15 minutes from Sonoma town; 40 minutes from Napa.
RELAX. The Guest Room has a comfortable queen size bed with Italian linens, a writing desk, closet and private deck to the backyard. Your own Guest Bathroom is a few feet away (not ensuite). The living room offers a soft leather couch, fireplace, a flat screen monitor for DVDs (sorry, no cable as I really don't watch TV). Free, fast secure WiFi throughout the house.
WINE TASTING. Easily walk or bike to over a dozen tasting rooms. See the Map/Guidebook. Many other wineries within a few miles. Most wineries are opened 11 am to 5 pm. Typical tasting fees are $15 to $25, higher for tours, private tastings and reserve wines. Subject to my schedule, on weekends, I can be your private tour guide to some of my favorite tasting rooms. Ask me for more details and rates.
DINING. Cafe Citti is a good casual Italian bistro just a couple of blocks away. Many fine restaurants nearby in Glen Ellen and Sonoma. Just ask me for recommendations or find them in the guest guidebook in your room. On weekends, be sure to make dinner reservations at the more popular restaurants in Sonoma town or Glen Ellen (if they take them).
DO LOTS OR NOTHING. In addition to wine tasting, Sonoma Valley is a great area for hiking, walking, running, and road/mountain biking.
You have full access to the living areas indoors and out. Make yourselves at home!
Interaction with Guests
In the original spirit of home-sharing, I welcome you to enjoy my home and neighborhood. My house is not big but I try to provide as much privacy as possible. I can also be your private wine tasting guide. I often go on runs and hikes, so come along if you like!
A friendly, quiet neighborhood. We don't have sidewalks or street lights. We have to fetch our mail at the post office.
Walk, bike or drive. Bring your bikes or rent them in Sonoma town.
