Janice was very accommodating, taking care to meet us even though we were later than expected. She recommended a free show at City Hall and delicious cheap oyster omelets in the area, among other foods. The next day she sent me a text message with further recommendations for foods and events in Tainan. We enjoyed tasty and filling breakfasts at her mother's home and were offered the opportunity to participate in a Confucian blessing ceremony for the new year. At the end of our stay we were driven to the train station. We very much appreciated her attentive hosting and well-wishes!
Janice and her family were nice. We learned a little of Taiwanese life from them. I have 2 notes to future guests. The bed is hard and you need to stay out all day. Those 2 points weren't problems for us. Actually I slept very well there.
The reservation was canceled 24 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
From the train station, it takes 10-15 mins by bus and walk to the house. Host is super nice and introduce us the different places where we should visit and breakfast is provided.
perhaps the only bad not positive thing will be you could not come back very late as this will inconvenient the owners of the house. Other than that, i enjoyed my stay and the host is super nice. :D
Private-like homestay at Janice's family. Clean, comfortable, central located. We were warmly welcomed, had a nice breakfast and were even brought to the station by her dad! Worth staying, and even more worth talking to Janice.
My brother and I stayed at Janice and her family's place for a couple nights during the Chinese New Year's holidays, and overall had a really good experience! Everyone was very friendly, and made us feel very comfortable in their house. We got to enjoy a couple of tasty Taiwanese style breakfasts, and were even welcome to join them for a hot pot meal on Chinese New Year's day. The place was clean, and the beds, although a little hard, didn't bother the two of us at all. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic Taiwanese "homestyle" experience.
We had a great time in Tainan and recommend to stay at Janice' place. Janice and her family are very friendly. They helped us with a lot practicalities that are important when traveling, so we could have a great time exploring the city. To enhance our inherently positive impression the mattress could have been a bit more comfortable.
Janice was an excellent host, kind and friendly . Their home located in a nice neighbourhood. She has kindly guided us around the neighbourhood and her mother has kindly prepared great breakfast. The stay was great to explore Tainan, learn about the culture and Janice and her family were excellent to know!
Janice and her parents are really, really nice, welcoming people. If you stay here, perhaps check with Janice about the bed, however. When I stayed, it was a thin Taiwanese-style sleeping mat on the floor. When I mentioned it, she quickly found another sleeping mat to put on top, but it wasn't what the listing said was a "real bed" or "futon" (expected a thick Japanese-style futon at least).
