Foresters Lodge is in the village of Blackman Eddy which is at mile 57 on the Western Highway. The Cabana built by local Mennonites is on sixteen acres which is situated on a hill with panoramic views of Barton Creek, and Spanish Lookout.
The five horses on the property graze around the cabana freely during the day and they are available for riding. The deck is a great place to enjoy your morning cup of tea and enjoy the singing birds and sunsets in the evening. There are Mango, Sour sop, Custard Apple, Avocado, Coconut, Papaya and Limes trees on the property. All of these fruit trees bring in animals and birds which make the deck a great spot for bird watching. You may be able to see a Toucan or a Gibnut at dawn or dusk. There are dogs on the property who are all friendly and are in the owners fenced in area.

If you do not have a vehicle I often lend my pickup for guests to go eat in the evening to local restaurant.
Fresh eggs from my hens.
Absolutely no smoking indoors.
Interaction with Guests
A little, I always check to see if all is well or if there is anything needed each day. If guests want the interaction I will stick around although I dont like to be too pushy, I feel that they want to do their own thing and enjoy their time on their own then you are welcome to enjoy the resort.
Breezy, quiet most of the time, lovely sunsets.
Beautiful at night, you can see all the stars, moonlit nights are particularly special. I can see why the Maya placed their pyramids in such a way to see all that beauty.
Busses are every half an hour except sundays.
If you haven't got a vehicle and don't want to cook, there are nice places to eat and I will take you there no problem.
Hey, enjoy the peace and quiet and the homely atmosphere. We would like however that you take care of all the household items, furniture, crockery etc.
Conserve energy, switch off unnecessary lights. Water is caught from the roof in vats so only when it rains we can fill them. We don't often run out but sometimes we get an unusually dry season.
Smoking is allowed only outside and ashtrays are provided.
Conserve energy, switch off unnecessary lights, fans, AC when you go out.
We stayed at Foresters Lodge in Blackman Eddy and found it to be a great experience. Audrey is a knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly host. We had a lot of questions about Belize, and she had a lot of answers. The property is accessible and has excellent WiFi. The cabana was perfect for 4 people and was kept very tidy. We plan to stay here on our next trip to Belize.
In a word- Amazing! Audrey is an incredibly warm, welcoming and generous host. She and Graham helped arrange tours for us and personally escorted us to some of the more difficult to find places. The cabana was spacious, spotless, well- equipped and beautifully situated for great sunset views over San Ignacio. Plus the grounds are lovely and well-maintained with 5 beautiful horses, cats, chickens (delicious fresh eggs!), lots of birds and many friendly dogs. Our kids were especially found of a sweet young puppy named Bambi! Bottom line, Audrey and her staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay here exceeds expectations. Even the other guests we met were friendly and fun to hang out with. We highly recommend Forrester's Lodge- the whole experience was a highlight of our trip!
I cannot say enough good things about Audrey and Foresters Lodge. The cabana was very comfortable and homey, with plenty of space and all the little thing you need to feel at home. It sits on a hill so you get a great view of the surrounding area. It was so peaceful starting the morning by sitting on the back deck with a cup of coffee, watching the birds flying by and the horses grazing around the property. The entire property is beautiful and there is plenty of privacy.
I loved the fact this cabana is actually inside of the fenced area, right next to Audrey's house because not only did I get to visit with Audrey a bit each day, but i was also able to visit with her dogs and cats each day (i love animals and hers are all friendly and fun).
The location is also a great base for exploring the area, so many things to see and do within a short drive. That made it great to go explore during the day yet be back in the evening to cook a nice meal and just relax.
Audrey is wonderful, she goes above and beyond being a good host. She friendly, helpful, interesting, and just an all around a good person. I really enjoyed the time I had visiting with her, I just wish i would have had more time to just hang around the property and visit with her (next time I hope to!). Everyone I saw on the property was helpful and friendly and I really felt at home.
I could go on and on, but will just say staying at Foresters Lodge and meeting Audrey was one of the best experiences I've ever had and one I will never forget. I plan to go back some day!
Audrey was an exceptional host. The cabana was lovely with a beautiful view of the countryside and all of our required amenities for a comfortable stay. The grounds were wonderful- with horses, friendly dogs, lizards, leaf cutter ants, toucans, and other exotic birds right at our doorstep. There was even a puppy! Audrey set up great tours for us at ATM (which I highly recommend) and Tikal. She also gave us insider's tips on activities and local stores to visit. She arranged for one of the staff, Miguel, to take me around the area on her horse Poppy, who was very sweet. Last but not least, as we left we realized we had a flat tire. Her helper switched to the spare and followed us to the local tire shop to make sure we were alright. Lovely people and a wonderful place to stay!
The lodge was as described infact, better. Lovely surroundings. tranquility. Audrey was great. Loved the dogs they're so friendly. Loved the lodge. Would highly recommend it. Wasn't able to make the most of the beautiful surroundings this time, as I was visiting family but will next time. Staying here was definitely one of my favourite part of the holiday. Definitely stay again. Thanks Audrey.
Audrey was an amazing host! Her property was gorgeous, even better than described. She was extremely helpful as far as learning about local spots, and was all around very accommodating. A very relaxing end to my extended trip to Belize.
Audrey's Lodge was a private and quiet piece of jungle heaven!! The place is huge! We only used one room but it could have slept 6. The kitchen, dining, and living areas are spacious and felt like home. The bathroom is large. Everything is clean and during our 6 day stay, they cleaned twice which was really really sweet and unexpected. The actual location is seven miles from the city of San Ignacio. We made friends with a taxi driver who gave us great deals so we had no problem getting into town. We uses maximum adventure tours to check out ruins and cave tubing and they were great too. Everyone in Belize is super friendly. We loved the jungle!!! It was magical. Audrey, her staff, and her pups are wonderful. I totally fell in love with two of her dogs. There are giant iguanas that sun bathe on the rocks on her land. Her five horses graze the grass in the lush and picturesque landscape. Oh and Audrey took us to the big grocery store the first day there so we could cook most of our meals there. Thanks for everything!!!!

I originally was born in Belize but grew up in the U.K. and returned to Belize in 2001 to start Foresters Lodge. I love animals and have 5 horses that I rescued, cat, dogs, birds and all other wildlife that might wander on my 15 acres. I love adventure and like to be outdoors turning my hands to something, I almost finish building a stone bathroom with my workers, hate paperwork and being at a desk. I also practice martial arts and enjoy travelling around Central America Competing and Judging events. I can assist you with the local attractions and adventures in the area. I chose to live in this area due to the abundance in flora and fauna, the tranquility, stress free lifestyle and the temperate weather. I invite you to Foresters Lodge to experience the Cayo District and everything Belize has to offer.
Some tours I can take you there instead of booking in town which is more expensive. cahal Pech, Xunantunich, Zoo, cave tubing, blue hole etc. the only one I can't do for you is the ATM ,that needs a guide.
I am very easy going and placid person, we shall get along like a house on fire, when you get here it will be as if we have always known each other. I would like to
travel more myself, Australia, New Zealand and maybe Africa but which part I don't know yet, Kenya sounds good.
When you stay with us we go all out to please you, you will be taken care of and most of all our prices are great.
